I know there are some 73 comas in octave in Byzantine music. I get confused if I should orientate by intervals of tempered or Pythagorian divisions of scales when playing maqams or ancient stuff. Have a look here: Glissentar by Fatih , it is in my favorites too
I never heard about gerdaniye before, such bad is my knowledge of such a great music, I only started learning maqams this year. I will refer to maqamworld
It's ok!. well if you'r learning arabic theory you must know that they are 'brothers' with turkish,and also byzantine & ancient greek but there are also many differences. when I say neva & gerdaniye,I mean the positions of sol & do!. :)
