Thank you for this video, I was living, stationed in Mannheim in the late 70's. I loved going to Heildelberg for the "Burning of the Castle" in the summer time. This is the most beautiful city I have ever seen. Such diversity, great people, I miss it so much. I now live in Florida, and everynow and then I watch videos of Germany. I want to go and visit. im currently living in on the outscirts of heidelberg in ziegelhausen its a really nice place and its full americans because of the army bases so yes its nearly every german that lives there speaks english and if you then you have to 'Der Shop' its like gummy bears but a german version =D

it depends who you're talking to. there are heaps of students and i think all of them speak english. don't really know about the shops. old people won't really be able to speak english.

but we get loads of tourists there. so come and visit heidelberg;)

The Schloßbeleuchtung ("Castle Illumination") started in 1613 when Prince Frederic V welcomed the English Princess Elizabeth Stuart, his new bride (my relative), to Heidleberg. The event featured fireworks & castle lit with bright colors. That later evolved into the modern event symbolizing the 1693 French invasion which destroyed the castle & much of the city.

The great writer Mark Twain travelled there to write some of his books and other notable people have said that Heidelberg is one of the nicest and most beautiful cities in Europe.
