@aBuruBuruGuy im assuming it was once a spatula. I dont even know the technical term but in germany we call it "besen" which translates into broom. It was used first in jazz music and I imagine a lot of ragtime and jazz bands back in the day where the drumers used all sorts of stuff they could find in the house, could have been a spatula or other cooking supplys :D

I think people just need to realize that there is no such thing as "better than the original," because 1) music is a matter of opinion and personal taste, and 2) the original version is how the song was intended. This song was intended to be a dark, low-key song that stood out because of its meaning more than the music itself (the music itself is still good of course). This cover does not quite capture the tone of the original, but that does not mean that it's bad. They are different, both good.
