  • Great information. Thank you : )

  • The copay is separate from the deductible and coinsurance. Typically, you will have access to use your copay to visit a doctor, for example, WITHOUT MEETING YOUR DEDUCTIBLE OR COINSURANCE.

90% of the time, you will not hit your deductible or coinsurance at all unless you are hospitalized.

As for drugs: Most plans have a drug copay. There may be a deductible you must cover first before the drug copay works.

  • If a policy states 10K deductable, 0% coinsurance, and 0% copay after the deductable, what is a person required to pay? What is the copay BEFORE you meet your deductable? What percentage do you pay on coinsurance if you get sick before the deductable is met? What do you pay on prescription drugs before the deductable is met? I've seen many state 0% after deductable but no information on charges prior to meeting that annual deductable. Do I pay it all?
