  • It's a shame that the electric sitar isn't used anymore :(

  • Funny, back then you always thought songs like this would always be coming out on the radio. For the most part today's music is :-(

  • Blue eyed soul at it's best!

  • Crying that Alex is gone....r.i.p. bro.....one cool dude......thanks you tube 4 keeping his music alive.

  • Yep, I have this tune on 45RPM, original owner…what ya think it is worth?

  • If a 45-rpm which you own has good quality and condition, I think that record is worth.

    Otaku3 (^_^;)

  • @FullMoonVideo Well, Gold is about $1800 an ounce. How much does it weigh?

  • @60otaku3 Another great song from back in the day. This, too, brings back many, many memories. All good with this one though. You have a knack for sending me straight back to my teen years with your uploads. Thanks for the upload and reminding me of all those memories. This, as well as Don't Let The Sun..., are now on my channel as Favorites. Have good days.

  • Thank you for your kind comment to me, BgMsDangerus-san!!

    Otaku3 (*^o^)/

  • @60otaku3 You're very welcome. BTW, being an ignoramous from the USA, what does the suffix "san" mean after someone's name? I sure hope it's a good thing!

  • "-san" means one of Japanese honorifics to add behind the third person's name, is similar to English titles like "Mister" and "Miss".

    Otaku3 (^_^)b

  • @60otaku3 Thank you for you quick reply. I have now learned my something new for the day. My philosophy is that everyone should learn at least one new thing everyday. I learned that from Michelangelo. :-D

  • Favorite Box Top song. Thanks for posting.

  • You're welcome, AdmiralAveil-san!!

  • THIS SONG HIT THE BILLBOARD CHART ON 8-12-67. REACHED #1 (STAYED FOR 4 WEEKS) WAS ON 13 WEEKS. CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT DID'T SALE A 1,000,000 COPIES (GOLD RECORD) EVEN SO IT STILL SOUNDS GREAT AFTER 34 YEARS. REMEMBER LISTEN TO IT ON WOKY 920 OUT MILWAUKEE,WIS. RIP ALEX CHILTON

  • @AOS1738 Still sounds good after 44 years!

  • @AOS1738 It's okay on that error. 34 years, 44 years. To me it seems like it couldn't have been all that long ago. It is their best tune.

  • yes,for me 60's and 70's music was the best!! not that the present ones lack"talent",its just they came from a different genre.

  • I hope all you in Japan are doing OK regarding the tsunamis and the earthquakes. Good luck and peace out!

  • Thanks for your words of encouragement, jimbobubbadj-san!

Because of a major earthquake in Japan, I am sorry that I have caused so many worries.

Now I'm O.K. with my family.

    Domo arigato gozaimasu!

    Otaku3 (=_=;)

  • Whenever I hear this it reminds me of the days of listening to 77 WABC Radio with a little transistor radio under my pillow listening to Charlie Greer doing overnights. A great memory. Thank you.

  • You're welcome, boswell69-san!!

    Otaku3 (^o^)/

  • @boswell69 Lord, you had a transistor radio under your pillow too. I thought I was the only one. Who knew? And, all those memories...!

  • @boswell69 you must remember Cousin Brucey

  • I love the sitar in this.

  • sometimes we forget just how young some of these stars were. chilton was what, 16? mitch ryder, 16? shuggie otis, 15? hey, steve winwood, 15? terry reid, ronnie lane, steve marriot, leave us not forget frampton, what?

  • This song was made back in a time when you had to have something most bands today seriously lack...TALENT!!!

  • A true classic. In the 60’s to mid 70’s, you could tune in 1 radio station, and hear a much wider variety of music. From the Beatles & Carly Simon, to Motown greats like B.B. King & The Supremes, played in random. Singers and bands that could hold a note & had harmony in their lyrics. Few of today’s “artists” can match the magic that was created back then.

I’m glad I grew up in those times, and not in today’s dwindling talent, flash-in-the-pan performers that pass for Musicians.

  • traveling in usa and listening to this song cant be better

  • Classic: An expression or piece of art, style, or individuality that remains timeless. "Cry Like A Baby" is such work.

  • this takes me to the royal tottenham great days

  • I Love This Song!! Thank You Otaku!

  • This is one of the great songs that stuck in my head...from school day's ..Great...!

  • Belongs in the Top Ten of all time, IMO.

  • OK - I'd never heard this before I jammed on it in a pub...but a contemporary version ca't be a bad thing...see my channel!

  • Chilton was taken to the hospital in New Orleans on March 17, 2010, complaining of health problems, and died the same day of a heart attack.[5] According to his wife, Laura (who married Chilton in August 2009), at least twice in the week before his fatal heart attack, Chilton experienced shortness of breath and chills while cutting the lawn. However, he did not seek medical attention, she said, in part because he had no health insurance. [4] He is survived by his wife, Laura.

  • VERY NICE BASS LINE ON THIS SONG.

  • Excellent!!

  • I blew up my first stereo system in my car with this!!!!! 1968

  • Such a great voice....

  • Gotta love that electric sitar :)

  • Kinda " Blue eyed soul ", like The Righteous Brothers !! PEACE......

  • What a great loss. Now I need to go to Memphis, not just to respect the KIng, but Alex, also. It's gonna be a sad trip!

  • Alex Chilton was only 59 even though he had tasted success back in 1967 with "The Letter", yet up until the day of his passing he was still making great music, most recently with Big Star. The best tribute in his memory is to play those old Box Tops and Big Star loud and proud. RIP Alex Chilton (1950-2010)

  • ON FIRE BABY>>>>>DO IT

  • my first taste of ''forbidden rock '' music was boxtops neon rainbow, great band, still love their music 40 years later, yes mum finally relented...

  • I think that this was one of the first pop songs to feature that weird 8 foot long guitar called a sitar. And they didn't even have to go to India to discover it, like the Beatles did.

    Wonderful memories, nice audio quality!

  • I almost forgot how good this song was. I haven't heard it in ages. The Box Tops - What a great name for a Pop/Rock Group!

  • Great song and great to hear it in stereo!

  • Thank you for enjoying, jimbobubbadj-san!!

    Otaku3 (*^_^)/

  • @jimbobubbadj I think it's the best of the boxtops -

  • This is a late 1960's gem. We've all been there and lost love at some time in our lives. I like such songs because they are easy to understand and relate to.

  • Interesting sense of humour, dude. I would't cry either, even if I was "lookin' back on a love so sweet.."! ;-)

  • Great track, thanks for posting!

  • You're welcome, watchinshadows-san!!
