@SRDTL becouse if Kf7, Rd7 and take the bishopon B7 so is not a good move; if Kf8, Rd8, then only viable move Kg7 becouse if not you take the rook on h8, and then Re7 chake mate, thats why Be5

Was the first time that Fischer showed himself in public after 20 years of being "disappeared" . So the correct date is 1992.

Who says fischer could beat kasparov, here is a realistic answer. I asked 4-5 GrandMasters and they all said kasparovs games are harder to understand. Which means they are more complex with greater ideas..

Kasparov has been the greatest player of all times alive and dead... but according to me has been a bad example for chess... he sold off for money... he ruined the international champioship for his politics, he pretended to lose to Deep Blue for the money and to his student Kramnik so that he would not lose to some stranger at a later age - anyway he wanted to go on with politics trying to convince that he is Russian and cares for Russia while he is an anti-Russian pro-US Azerbaitzani

Each chess player had his own style, and each has to be judged under all angles. How many of you know that the hardest player to beat - of all times - was Tigran Petrosian the 1960s grandmaster finally beaten by Spassky? Tigran was the first to play a totally defensive game (no wonder! he was Armenian!).

Fpr me, the first modern player was Nimzovitch. A true great one.

Boby Fischer was one of the greatest players. But he never became the best - he had a long road ahead to do so, but he did not do it. His choice.

Indeed Fischer would come down to play when all conditions were excellent for him and he was certain of his vicgtory. He avoided to play with Karpov. That says it all. And was of course far from ready to come down and face Kasparov the best player of all times.

Albeit I prefer Fischer's go for the win, to Kasparov.

This was not a good game by Spassky. He started out weak and continued to weaken his position. Fischer maintained the classic defensive position and had this game won early.

But Fischer only played when he was confident to win and he certainly had the opportunity to play against Kasparov if he wanted... so I guess not.
