  • Doesn't get much simpler than that. I like alcohol stoves. Good job on the video. - C.J.

  • @PatriotNC1 Simple is good Thanks for watching and commenting ;) c

  • Nice jufs

  • Your videos truly entertaining , fun and informative , thanks so munch !!!

  • This stove is so cool. Great video Cindy. Please do more videos on cool camping stuff. Thanks

  • Does anyone know where you can buy the Bud aluminum bottles? I'm in the Atlanta area and haven't been able to find them.

  • Be sure to label your alcohol containers (and anything else poisonous).

  • @ScottsUtubeWorld I hear that... thanks for watching :) c

  • Yum yum. I've been looking at many of your clips.very nice.Love that stove.

  • Hey Y'all in Florida, still snowin' here, but we really enjoy not having to swat the skeeders, winter campin' sure is a challenge, but fun all the same.

anyway my wife & I really enjoy your clips.

all the best in the new year

    Ter & Mel in CANADA!

  • @SKILLET210 I actually went camping on a vacation in Florida with my family and sold a stove to some Canadians. I also ship to Canada.

  • Hey 4850937 Don't talk to me about rocks..... LMAO!

  • The Trangia has an awesome bloom. Burns for 30 minutes. Can simmer too. 3.5 inches above it is the hottest. Perks coffee fast. Sealed lid to transport unburned fuel.

    Heavy? Candy bar heavy? LOL.

Just set it on any flat surface. A small grate above it, or use my system; multifunctional wind proof pan holder/container. (not selling anything)

NOTHING precarious about a Trangia or my choice of a utensil holder.

My choice is the Trangia. Yours has liabilities.......

    User chooses.....

  • @Tankdriver100 I think you need a stand for a trangia. That's one extra thing to fit in your pack. It's also one extra thing to break. Also, the trangia can carry fuel in it. I would think that it would take significantly longer to prime with a lot of fuel in it. That's my biggest concern. When I choose a stove, I first look for something that doesn't carry fuel.

  • @4850937 "Grams" That is not working for you guy.

Military fire tabs weigh 10+ grams.

A container like I describe shows up a lot. Coffee cans, juice cans. Little smaller.

Plus plenty of commercial fold up stoves to set pots on to be stable.

I'm using old fuel & a full burner blooms under 5 seconds. Don't need a stand.

I want it to carry fuel. Break? What?

Infinite techniques. But no need to take risk.

    Trangia is the winner.

Bottle stove, stay on the porch....

  • I recommend a Trangia.

Has important added features, plus they are safer.

For fun I just prepared a dinner omelet. Full of onions, red pepper, mushrooms, hash browns, ham and cheese. Daaang.....

On my system, outside on the patio...

  • @Tankdriver100 My stoves are perfectly safe when used on a level surface, and with rocks around the pot incase the pot were to flip over. People often complain that commercial stoves don't prime well. Also, the trangia weighs a lot, and I think it requires a stand.

  • @4850937 The trangia doesn't look pressurized, so I don't know how efficient it is.

  • Lush looking legs ;)

  • Intrigued as to why people stack up stoves and pots so precarious that the turbulent wake from a satellite whizzing by, can knock them over. Hmmmm? Punch 1/2" holes around the side bottom rim of a gallon can. 6 lengths of coat hanger wires stabbed through 12 evenly spaced 1/8" holes 1 3/8" up the side, can hold the Alky burner in the hottest range of the flame at the top. A few holes around the top edge. Steel Skewers can hold small pots. Wind resistant & a container for your stuff.

  • @Tankdriver100 Great advice...thank you and happy New Year ;) c

  • @Tankdriver100 Sounds like a bunch of extra stuff to carry.

  • @SoCalDualSport You calling one multifunctional can "a bunch of stuff?

Hiking, tail gating, car camping, coffee perking, off grid patio / back yard cooking, have infinite combinations. Point is, reduce precarious situations. Boiling containers and liquid fire collapsing is not pretty.

    Stay safe and enjoy....

  • @Tankdriver100 Maybe I should of said everything I was thinking. It is a nice system, I just minimize alot. I carry half a toothbrush. I trim my nails before I go (too much weight). I've considered drilling holes in my coffee cup to reduce weight...I didn't do it...but I considered it..

  • @SoCalDualSport You might find a usefull purpose of this type of grill.

Check out ideas from "Making Backpacker Grills" video, if you like.

Almost zero bulk with this guys grills.......

  • @Tankdriver100 That would be a good idea as long as the pot covers the stove. It would weigh more than a gram. Another possibility is to spend some time finding rocks to put around the pot.

  • @Tankdriver100 That is a clever idea. I wouldn't be willing to carry the extra grams, so I would just use rocks. Your idea is good because then you don't have to spend time finding the right rocks.

  • Good job. Thanks for the review. Anthony.

  • Hubba Hubba!

  • hey cindy, what abt the hammock, what brand is it? can you please make a review of it? how much does it cost? thanks

  • @du2lx We'll do a review as soon as possible. These hammocks run about $59 in stores but you can find them online for around $40

    Thanks for watching ;) c

  • How do you like your GSI pots, and pans? I JUST got a set... and i have yet to try it out on my own... but ive heard so many good things about them... and so far i like everything about them...

thank you for the good videos!! take care!

    A.j

  • @arthurlafave The GSI pots are awesome. Gonna go with the Dualist next time though. A little more compact ;) c

  • @SoulSurvivorX2 I picked up the small set as well.. glad to hear you enjoyed it though, and that its good gear!

thanks again for the great videos!

  • I like the corregated platform that your stove was on. Can you tell me about it?

  • @kyletango Nothing special...it was a grill from a fire pit nearby ;) c

  • Cindy this is a White Box Stove copy. At least David should tell everyone he copied the design instead of taking credit for the design.

  • @billinmt3 David mentioned in his video he got the design off the internet. Besides...I don't think anybody has a patent on aluminum beer bottle stoves... chill ;) c

  • Yes you definitely have to check out Minibulldesigns alcohol stoves. You will be impressed!

  • @gladeswarden7016 I made one of those thin wall stoves once, and had some problems with it priming.

  • @gladeswarden7016 Those stoves have their pluses and minuses.

  • Very nice review. I am sure that with a litte more experimentation you will find the setup that works perfectly for you.

@4850937 - very nice bottle stoves. I love the red, white, and blue theme. I watched your videos and you need to relax a little. You make me nervous just watching you. Best of luck, I'm sure that your stoves will be up and down the AT before long.

ps how come no stove makers ever mention the PCT? No love for us west coast through hikers?

  • @OldAltaLifty That's not usually where it's AT.

  • I'm David from Bottlestoves, and I've never tried a supercat stove. They look like they would be the best for bringing water to a boil fast. A supercat would probably be better than one of my stoves for a Mountain House package. I first made one of these stoves because I was looking for something to slowly cook cabbage with.

  • @4850937 Also, this video is better than I would've imagined. All I did was give them some free stoves for a video, but I never expected it to be this thorough. Cindy is the best.

  • Great video! I have to get me one of these !

  • nice video well explained from start to finish

  • @dennismco Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment ;) c

  • Mmmm! Stuffing and jerky? I don't usually like jerky but I love stuffing so this is definitely something I have to try. How much jerky do you use for a package of stuffing? The stoves look great, but check out minibulldesign. He has so many different types.

  • @CampSmarts We just throw in the crumb pieces of jerky at the bottom of the bag.... ;) c

  • Great little stoves there! Very cool of him to hook you up like that. Very nicely done vid btw!

  • @intenseangler Thank you....

  • Obviously you haven't seen stoves from minibulldesign..

  • I have to say David at Bottle stoves is a really nice guy for only charging 7 or 8 bucks for these great well made stoves. Good to know there are still some honest people around just charging a fair price for something they make and not trying to gouge people. I say support this guys efforts for making such a good product for a great price. I am all for the individual business owner. :)

  • Oh just seen this video for the first time must of overlooked it. Glad you found the correct type of alcohol stoves that work and far more efficient. This will work far better for you and it just as small and light as the cat stove. If you get the chance check out this guy "Tinny" Super nice guy he makes some really incredible alcohol stoves and he is very very knowledgeable here is the link "minibulldesign.dotcom"

  • Those stoves are fun to make, but I suggest to run some test to see how much fuel you need. To boil 1 cup of water only about .5 oz of fuel should be enough, although be prepared for a slightly longer boil time when using only as much as needed. As the fuel is running low the flame will die down somewhat which means less heat so slightly longer boil time. However, the benefits is weight savings. Also use the one with less holes for the heine pot so less flames will go up the side. Have fun.

  • Nice video you two and a thumbs up for Cindy looking great while cooking

  • wait! did you say stuffing and beef jerky! does the jerky rehydrate? all served up on a stick!! Wow move over Giada!!

  • Stoves like that work really well, I've got one that a friend of mine made for me. Thanks for sharing Cindy. Take Care:-))

  • i think that stove is awesome...you may have an issue with alcohol at altitude and in the cold.......you may have to wrap a priming wick around it to get it to bloom.if you need some let me know i had to buy a mile of it,lol.that was the only spool size.i have built a few of those...very durable and dependable.good luck with it.

  • Great video. I just purchased my first alcohol stove and hope to try it out soon.

  • @Sgtb999 Do a video so we can see how it works out for ya' ;) c

  • thats briliant... the heat from the aluminum vaporizes the fuel out of the little hoel and then ignites... awesome!

  • @SoCalPreppers Yes they work very well. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment...Happy Thanksgiving ;) c

  • Hammocks and alcohol stoves in the forest are my favorite things. You look good in a hammock. Someone told me I looked good in a Buick once. So I bought one...haaaa.

    Good stuff.

    Happy Thanksgiving

  • @shugemery Aww Thank you Shug! Love your videos...always cracking me up. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well ;) c

  • This is a great concept. However they don't work well for small pots (Beercan or Sp600 pots) and aren't really that efficient (= carrying more weight in fuel) . You will likely have the same problem as supercat with the flames running up the side. Might try the MSR titan pot as its much wider and might cover you both.

As for stove that's a great place to start. but a good goal to shoot for is to boil 2 cups with .75 to 1oz of fuel in 5-10 mins.

  • @HomeMadeHiker Thank you for watching and for commenting. Have a great Thanksgiving ;) c

  • Comment removed

  • Boils in 6 minutes? I would say that little oven works great. Nice vid

  • Yes it was pretty impressive. Thanks for watching and Happy Thanksgiving ;) c

  • That is a great idea.

  • @1crimm Thank you for watching ;) c

  • A friend recommended these stoves to me to help cut my weight down. Like you after using the first time I was sold on them. Great review and showing how to use them. May you and Mike have a very Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow

  • @DennyRec Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving too you as well ;) c

  • Great review Cindy. I like them little stoves, thanks for sharing.

  • Neat little stove. Great job on the review!

  • Nice find, hope it solves your problems on next hike!

  • That's what I'm talking about. Good video guys.....OohRah

  • Those hamocks rock. Wow, I just thew away one of those bottles. I'm not much of a drinker, but the last beer i bought was one of those aluminum miller lite bottles.

  • Great video, just a little thing, Both my X's were Cindy, maybe I have a thing, not only the great videos, that is what may have drawn me here, LOL. Take care and you guys have a very Happy Thanksgiving with your family and thanks for all you do.

  • oh boy. Another stove maker on youtube. Tinny is going to flip his lid on this one.

  • Nice job with the vid! Those r good stoves for sure!

  • Those are pretty cool! Way better than anything I could rig up. Also, you guys do a great job putting these videos together. I have been behind the lens a few times and I know its not easy!

  • The Bushman -Ggreenvideos- has a number of versions of this stove.

  • Good video Cindy those are good little stoves to play around with. You will enjoy tinkering with them.

  • @smokeeater908 Thank you Smoke ;) c

  • Okay Mike, ya have to come thru for us, how are you gonna get Cindy to warm bath water for a trail side bubble bath, think man, think

  • @beelikestowatch hmmmm... thinking, thinking, thinking, thinking ;) m

  • @SoulSurvivorX2 That's all I can ask for, I am sure you will think of something... You Da Man

  • Cindy: I often make chopsticks from a couple of sticks but be sure when you use a stick to take a knife and shave off the outer bark because that is where all the crud is that could make you sick. Also make sure you know what wood you are using. Cool little stoves!

  • @Nebulax123 Sure ...now you tell us...Mike hasn't been off the toilet in days! LOL...just kidding ;) c

  • Nice video, I checked his website and his prices are great

  • @dragonflyhiker Thank you for watching, commenting and checking out Davids site.... he's trying to make an extra buck or two. ;) c

  • Great deal you guys. Cool lil stoves light weight. Nice area you guys are in fun.

  • @guns4funca Still warm here in sunny Florida ;0 c

  • Good stuff.

  • @GunsKnivesSurvival Thank you... ;) c

  • yeah, this is what I told i used on the CT for 30 days

  • @ssprenger1 Awesome. Did they work well for you?

  • Those are kick ass what are you using for fuel?

    Rubbing alcohol?

  • @1yankeecowboy HEET in the YELLOW bottle can be found at wal mart in the auto care used to keep fuel lines from freexing this is the best alcohol stove fuel. Watch it that stuff is almost explosive use extreme caution and use OUTdoors the first time you use this stuff you screw up and your filler bottle flames up it WILL explode in your hand and if you are as lucky as I was the explosion puts out the flame and the alcohol just covers your walls rather than burn them. USE A SMALL BOTTLE 2 FILL.

  • @cdltpx Thanks for watching and for the tips..... ya'll help David out now. He's a good guy trying to make an honest buck ;) c

  • @1yankeecowboy Denatured alcohol ;) c

  • How much are they Cindy

  • @maxbigdog33 Go to the web site listed in the description... there are very well priced and he has different configurations. ;) c

  • Drink more beer to make the stoves, and make some 'shine for the alcohol. Works for me.

  • Nice

  • If he gets a big order he has to drink more. lol

  • @sailingmanuel LMAO!! ;) c

  • ¡Great!
