We wish to build a server that will be powered by an M4-ATX (250Watt) 12VDC power supply and run from Solar / Wind / battery. Currently we are looking at the Intel i5 - 2500K CPU. But if there is a better option let us know! We wish to be able to drop the Wattage consumption down as low as possible during low reserve power situations. well it lowered my temp, barely. still running 65 celcius minimum and 70+ on average, which I know isn't good...

@mechrocktech wow, i underclocked my amd phenom II x4 965 be
the stock was 1,42v!
i knew that was too high, and i was getting high temperatures
step by step, i undervolted a bit everytime, ran prime95 to torture cpu cores
and finnaly i got to 1.20v! and it worked, it was 100% stable and temperatures decreased A LOT
from 60max to 51 max on prime95

Great video undervolting is great way to lower temps especially while overclocking or on a laptop.
