  • people are so fucking stupid, this is clearly describing his elusiveness. ive been called a "little monkey." its not racist.

  • Monkey

  • its to bad sonny liston is not alive. he would tell you how much of a racist cosell was. of course his liberal buddies let him off the hook. to bad Lanny Watkins was not as fortunate.

  • Yes, "monkey" in a different context could be a racist remark, but Cosell was referring to Alvin Garrett's elusiveness, not his skin color! A shame that Cosell ended up losing that job over nothing more than a poor choice of words.

  • ##ck the media. He was no racist

  • Howard Cosell called white people little monkeys too.

Stop sniveling black people and it's not his fault that you will never overcome!

  • Howard was a real chink in the armor

  • If he's not a racist then why did he call him a monkey ? Last time I check , that was a racist comment for black people.

  • Howard always bent over backwards to be more than fair to black athletes. No way was he a racist. It is disturbing that anyone would think he was a racist. There was no announcer in his era who was less of one.

  • Can you say double -standard .I can.

  • @0:34 ...the other commentator hesitates!! ha ha, he can't believe what he just heard!

  • Ask Muhammad Ali if hes a racist. Do your research folks.

  • Man, that sounded pretty racist to me. LITTLE MONKEY!!! Monkees don't play football

  • who let that little monkey out of it's cage?

  • Well is wasn't really a gaff seeing as though he also used the term monkey to describe white players. He was not referring to the players race or the way he looked in any way.

  • Cosell wasn't a racist, he treated people of all races with equal contempt for not being him.

Seriously though, he had used "little monkey" to describe a white player not too long before. This just gave the network an excuse to can the old drunk.

  • Cosell isn't a racist. Muhammad Ali despised white people, but he loved Cosell. I think that alone is validation enough.

  • @PHILLYHEAT215

I don't believe Ali despised white people, since he worked with so many white people and employed quite a few and was close friends with quite a few, Cosell included. What Ali despised was oppressive whites and docile blacks who didn't stand for anything of worth. In fact, he seemd to hate docile blacks more than anything based on a lot of his open attacks against them.

  • Muhammad Ali was one of his closest friends, I can't imagine him being racist

  • Cosell wasn't a racist. But he was a lousy commentator.

  • Cosell was not fired. He left the show voluntarily after the end of the season. People with serious cred like Muhammad Ali know that Cosell was not a racist.

  • What normal people heard: "That little monkey gets loose, doesn't he?"

What oversensitive dicks heard: "Look at that nigger go!"

  • That was his "Little Monkey" comment?

What the fuck man. That ain't shit. Not racist in the least bit. Not what was intended. Fucking people need to grow some balls, and quit being so fucking sensitive.

  • @lickmynutsbitch666 No not touchy but a little scared that white men think about black men so much? Would not want too bend over near you. Boy lover!! lol

  • He wasn't being racist there...

  • My brother told me about this along time ago.Howard Cosell was'nt racist,he called his grand kids little monkeys, and that was a known fact. But because the guy was black people who did'nt know any better thought he was racist..And Im Black.

  • I thought the line came on a TD run, and he said "look at that monkey go" This was the only time he's said it?

  • Howard Cosell Tooooo Pay away .

  • On 15 Jan 88, Greek made comments about how back in the slave days the master would breed his slaves to get a certain type slave and that blacks genetically had bigger thighs that enabled them to

  • @Maestrohbill

Yes and tell me, what is false about that statement??? Slave owners DID breed slaves to be bigger and stronger. Blacks DO have more muscle mass. They DO have higher hip bones. They DO have longer legs. Why is it considered racist do state facts??

  • Seems like around the same time Jimmy the Greek made a comment that knocked him off the air. Anybody remember what it was? Something about slaves being bread for strength and speed, I think.

  • Wow. And I know I watched this game because I've been a huge Cowboy fan since '79. But, I don't remember that comment. Anyway...he made the comment and the rest is history.

  • I like how every comment on this video is a paragragh long.

  • Woops!

  • Meredith agreed with what Cosell said, so shouldn't he have been just as scolded about it as Howard ?

  • @1976GGus1 are you retarted? or just trying to be funny? seriously....

  • Wouldn't that make you racist for connecting "little monkey" to black people. And Any normal non prejudice person wouldn't notice that. Besides for the annoying white nerdy one, who goes out of there way to help the black community, when really they don't even want to they just do so people can notice him.

  • but not acceptable now. And they damn sure wont learn it from their government schools. I even nicknamed a very blond, blue-eyed kid that I dearly love, monkey, shortened to monk because he climbed and darted around so.

I realize that at that time things were very touchy, but Howard certainly was not a racist. AND, ANY PUSILANIMOUS LITTLE SHIT THAT SAYS HE IS...WOULD DEFINITELY BE A SNARK! ( snarks fart in the bathtub and bite the bubbles)

  • Anyone old enough, sportsman enough, and with a brain bigger than a BB, who actually watched and listened to Howard, would know that he was ANYTHING BUT A RACIST. If anything he went overboard to be the opposite. Young people now can't imagine what the world was like when Howard grew up, and they damn sure don't learn anything from their government schools. Many of us that fought against racism in school, sports, the military, and business, have all used descriptive terms, acceptable then....

  • @42sundown Very true! When I was growing up in the 70's you could say almost anything and no one would be offended unless you used the term in a derogatory manner.

  • @Inquisitor6321..You got it kid. I say kid because I was born in 1942 and grew up in the 40s&50s, and got to get a taste of WWII. For example, I was born in a sharecropper's shack 22 miles from a paved road, and if we heard an airplane go over, we would all go outside to see it. We (my family) farmed with horses and mules, bought a farm with Army pay from WWII (101Acres for $840) had a telephone before we had electricity, got 1st car (39 Chevy) & 1st tractor ('46 Ford...See#2

  • @42sundown...#2..Ford/Ferguson in 1950. Before 1950, for a couple of years we lived in a city 44&45 and I was exposed to black kids, but my dad who explained what went on to me, never taught me anything about black people being different, or hatred of any kind. I never ran into any of that until I got to High School. I thought it was stupid then, and I think it's stupid now. I believe every bit of this PC crap is a result of our Universities hammering the Stalinist line....See #3

  • @42sundown...Since the civil rights era, and all the hateful stuff that went on and the conclusions arrived at, the blood shed, and laws passed, you would think it would be better than then, but it's not. I was taught to respect anyone who I came into contact with, nothing said about color. At that time the black kids were being taught the same thing. Now the race pimps and the lefty schools. teachers' unions, and universities are pumping out hate still. Some comments prove it.

  • @42sundown It's a pleasure to meet you! You are aware of the Stalinism that has been used in this country since FDR! It's rare I meet people that are that aware.

If you're interested I would recommend a book titled "The Chief Culprit" by Viktor Suvorov. He was a Soviet intel investigative officer explains in detail about the Soviet (Stalin's) plan to start WWII by financially backing Hitler's rise to power. CONTINUED IN #2.

  • @Inquisitor6321 You can see the same strategy used in this country that Stalin used in Russia to shut down Russia and bring in his communist/police state shift. Worth the read!!!!

You can find a copy on Amazon dot com. It's out of print so supplies will be limited. Fairly priced at less than $25 (Hard cover).

  • @Inquisitor6321...I have checked this book out, ( I still have a goal of reading a book a week) and after readind all of the extensive reviews, decided not to buy it. I have many others on basically the same subject. I recommend ( for any serious citizen, patriot, student, or any politician (especially those flirting with or members of, the left), the Black Book of Communism and the Venona Secrets. Masters of Deceit, None Dare Call It Treason, Destructive Generation,..see#2

  • @42sundown...and Radical Son (and anything else by David Horowitz) to get a complete handle on our political situation. I had just ordered Indoctrination:(paraphrasing) How Useful Idiots Subvert our Schools. I am not a real historian and I have many books like the Black Book of communism for reference books to check in with to answer arguments, I hear so many people parrot the symbolic BS and Bumper Sticker political slogans it makes me fear for our republic. Nice to meet you too.

  • @42sundown...The reason I said I am not a real historian, is that to me, a real historian concentrates on a relatively concentrated area of history and makes that his/her life's work. I am just a person that has such a varied range of interests that I never wanted that much specialization. I have been an Anti-Communist since I read a book, about a boy who escaped coal mines in Siberia, in 1953. Someday I'll find that book again. I'd like for my grand & great grandkids to read it.

  • @42sundown I respect you for this. I am 31 years old and I can understand your sign.

  • @xxpandamidknightxx...Hy young man (I guess). That's basically all we can do, just start out with respect and try to understand each other. I have said so many things, about so many things, in so many places, and to so many people, I would hate for someone to take one thing I said about any one thing, to be the end all of what I'm about. I such a complicated composition of so many different interests and opinions, that I even confuse myself. Glad to meet you too.

  • @42sundown..If there was a lower rung on the "class" ladder than I was, I don't know what it could be. I started out as"the illegitimate son of the Sharecropper's daughter". Born in a shack in the middle of a field, 22miles from the nearest paved road. Thank God that my dad "made" me legitimate, HA! All babies are legitimate unless convionced otherwise by some hateful adult (of which I've known many). I just looked always to my strong father, grandfather, and uncles (4) ...see2

  • @42sundown...and watched them, listened to them, and asked them for advice. I never internalized anything about being poor, because they were all children of the Great Depression, but not products of. They were always working to make life better, and working HARD. I was kind of an ornery little shit because I was sick a lot as a baby and somewhat indulged by the womenfolk. The men carreid me around with them but never bought the pity party. I became straight arrow becauseof them

  • @42sundown...Anyway, to get to my point, I have been a maddog boxing fan since I was 3 yrs old, (long story) but I watched boxing through the best of times. I watched the Olympics, Ray leonard, Howard Davis, George Foreman, and all the great battles of the 60s, 70s, 80s, George's comeback of th 90s and on til now. I have watched, fumed at, screamed at, and cussed at Howard Cosell. At times I knew we had to be watching different fights, but never ever did he harbor any racism. RIP

  • @42sundown

Yeah, but he fucked up though. It would've been just as bad if a black announcer came on and said "Coach Coughlin really believes in slaving his players hard to get the most out of them", or "That Billy Bob Smith plays like a crazed redneck". It just has a bad connotation and implies something out of bounds even if it wasn't intended that way.

  • @AllPro777...Oh but who in this complicated world could utter as many words and not

"fuck up". I never meant to say that it was okay to say that, what I wanted to say was, that as much as he pissed me off sometimes, after watching him for years, was that he was not a racist, and meant no bad, for any man, of any color, race or creed. I'm sure he hated facists and nazis, but might have been a little soft on commies. Just believe he was a good, good man, with a good heart.

  • @42sundown

I didn't know him personally, but I don't believe he was racist either. He just used a bad choice of words in a profession where everything you say is going to be scrutinized.

  • That got Howard Cosell fired.

  • @atworkstation Not so. This was the straw that broke the camels back for Howard. Howard was tired of feeling attacked by the print media over the years and decided to give it up. It was his decision to leave the ABC MNF television booth and do his radio shows.

  • Like? .... I Fucking LOVE it!!!!!!!

  • Jake Gibbs? (@ :28) The man's name is J O E G I B B S, jake gibbs was a catcher for the ny yankees. So glad we no longer have to listen to this howard the drunk imbecile anymore!

  • There were THREE separate "little monkey" comments made by Cosell, (not just one or two).

#1. "You know that little monkey, the theorem was that he was too small for pro football." on 08/29/1972 during a K.C. Chiefs vs. N.Y. Giants preseason HOF game (re Mike Adamle)

#2. "Look at that little monkey run!" (re Unidentified player, game, punt or kickoff return?)

#3. "That little monkey gets loose doesn't he" on 09/05/1983 during Dallas at Washington (re Alvin Garrett)

    What is game #2 above??

  • You know, the funny thing about the exibition game of 1972, "I SAW IT". And he referred to Cheifs RB Mike Ademle, as a little monkey. Mike Ademle is WHITE. I don't remember the score of the game, but I remember watching it with my dad. But MORE IMPORTANT, Howard Codslle was not a racist. And it just occurred to me, that Howard Cosell was Jewish.

  • HOWARD COSELL WAS NOT A RACIST!!!!!!!

  • @Oaklandgirlpitlover1 Well said. I was curious about the comment "Look at that little monkey run". It looks like humble Howard did not say it toward Alvin Garrett but unfortunately, the clip I found was disabled where he did say "Look At That Little Monkey Run, and it seems it was used in a 1972 exhibition game between the Giants and Chiefs. I knew I heard it somewhere, and somehow, it got translated to Alvin Garrett since the word "monkey" was used in this game. Inventorr77 pointed this out.

  • It has already been proven that these comments had nothing to do with racism. Cosell was a major civil-rights supporter of all athletes including Curt Flood, Jackie Robinson, Hank Aaron, Arthur Ashe, Muhammed Ali, and John Carlos/Tommy Smith (1968 Olympics) among others.

  • @NYCNorthNJ777 if you're black then you could be the biggest racist. If you're white, shut up. Because this white man, if I were a racist would not beat around the bush. My comment would be something like "how about the Jew calling a nigger a monkey." I'm uncomfortable to say that but maybe you will get the point no one remotely has been close to expressing or implying such a comment.

  • @KnockedSquared re: your reply NYCNorthNJ777 is spot on. No surprise who also pissed on himself I'm protest when his own medicine is given back...it's almost comical what a sniveling numbnuts hypocrite he is...we all are hypocritical at some points in life, this has to be the most blatant example.

  • @NYCNorthNJ777. No sir, I didn't know Howard Cosell, you should know that as YOU must of known him, and WELL so it seems. I'm not down on your opinion on this matter. Your reply to everyone that has a difference of an opinion than yours a including me isn't busting your nuts because of the difference of an opinion....it's yours asshole replies that are offensive. The least of your worries is whether it was a racial slur some 30 years ago as you seem to be obsessed with berating anyone that

  • In the context said in my opinion it is anything but racist... More describing a man's athletic ability as monkeys are typical tough creatures to catch if they don't want to be caught and great agility. I am not saying that Howard never said the N bomb in jos life, hell blacks say it more than anyone, but he sure wasn't referring to the player as a monkey as a substitute for any racial word.

  • Comment removed

  • look at the monkey run as God as my witness from 2011 restrospect and muhammad ali is cassius clay his brain is putty

    watch?v=PVScwog05Xw

joe fraziers swizzlestick lovey dovey /

  • Cosell has a huge vocab. he should not be calling anyone a monkey

  • Howard Cosell had a really strong civil-rights record. It has already been proven that these comments had nothing to do with racism. Cosell was a staunch supporter of all athletes including Curt Flood, Jackie Robinson, Hank Aaron, Arthur Ashe, Muhammed Ali, and John Carlos/Tommy Smith (1968 Olympics) among others. Hey, he even used to call his grandchildren little monkeys. ABC never fired him bc he generated so much revenue for the network. He wanted to do the news and not football.

  • at last that vile old schmuck got his ass thrown out of broadcasting.

now if we can only get rid of obama and bert and ernie

  • "And those black holes... you watch yourself.."

  • Humanity is so stupid. Making what was obviously an AFFECTIONATE comment referring purely to the guy's athleticism, and the idiots ruin him over it. Why didn't they just EDUCATE ignorant people to the fact that it's a human tendency to make off the cuff comparisons that hve valid aspects?? So many kinds of blatant bigotry just go right by and nobody thinks twice about it. Howard was a great announcer. He was a HUGE part of what MADE football the sport to watch when i was growing up.

  • THAT'S WHY HE DIED......A BROKEN OLD MAN......GOT HIMSELF BLACK BALLED....GOODY GOOD GOOD.....

  • There were 3 "little monkey" comments by Cosell.

#1. "That little monkey... the theory was that he was too small for pro football" 8/29/72 Chiefs v. Giants re Mike Adamle

#2. "Look at that little monkey run!" "He's on the 20... the 30... the 35... he cuts upfield... cuts back... the 45... 50... one man to beat.... LOOK AT THAT LITTLE MONKEY RUN!" During Halftime Highlights MNF?

#3. "That little monkey gets loose doesn't he?" 9/5/83 Dallas at Skins re Alvin Garrett

    Mercury Morris?

  • the hesitation in the other voice is classic, @0:32, "he huh, he huh, certainly does"...LOL

  • @ostreds Don Meredith was stunned!

  • HAAHAHAHAH!!!.

  • #1. August 29, 1972 K.C. Chiefs vs. N.Y. Giants (Mike Adamle) "You know that little monkey... again, the theorem was that he was too small for pro football"

#2. UNIDENTIFIED GAME & PLAYER - "Look at that little monkey run" ???

#3. September 5, 1983 Dallas at Washington (Alvin Garrett) "That little monkey gets loose doesn't he"

#4. September 18, 1978 Monday night game Colts at New England Patriots, but Howard Cosell never referred to Joe Washington as a "little monkey" in that game.

  • Cosell always had a patronizing, condescending attitude toward black athletes, even Ali. Perhaps *especially* Ali.

People would say of Frank Sinatra, "Oh, the doors he opened for Sammy Davis!" But, like Cosell, it was always the white guy (Cosell, Sinatra) as the self-professed hero, the white guy as the self-professed intelligent, courageous one.

Also, if you're an ego-maniac, as Sinatra nd Cosell certainly were, it's hard not to share characteristics with a racist.

  • @hooknosecentral honky,sneeze.LOL!!!!! and stop begging!

  • @hooknosecentral honky shave that chimp and you'll find white skin! you motherfuckers act like apes with your bungee jumping and eating worms and raw meat! fucking devil!

  • people can turn any comment into something "racist" . . . I had a bagel for breakfast today . . . that must mean something . . .

  • He meant monkey as in agile.

  • I h8 when ppl down play a racist knock on black ppl! They do it when Sharpton stands for minorities who don't have resource to defend themselves. Whites immediately bash Sharpton. In this case this WAS a knock on blacks despite if blacks down play it. When is about jews & gays, suddenly it become state of da union address. Passion Of The Christ, Gay Marriage ring a bell? U can't express a candid opinion with da aforementioned without them spinning it as anti semit or gay bashing. Smfh!

  • He didn't say it a racial context. If you were offended by this you're a fool.

  • Comment removed

  • This was not a racist comment. The accusation of racism for stuff like this , is in fact racism because its obvious that those who try to involve race wherever they can, are the ones withthe racial agenda.

  • Cosell is Not a racist in my opinion...and one of the greats in broadcasting. And as was mentioned he and Ali were very close. yep..Im Black and I dont even think it was racial. By the way I was very young when this played and I actually saw the broadcast live.Howard came back after the commercial break and defended himself..saying he had the utmost respect for Alvin . Funny thing.. Alvin said he as not mad cause Howard kinda looked like a Monkey himself... Which is actually true.

  • Comment removed

  • @NYCNorthNJ777 dude...you have too much time on your hands. Trying to reply to every single comment (and not being the original video poster) is s a sign of having mental issues. So just to answer you..in my post I did not say Alvin Garret looked like a monkey. I said I agreed with Alvin when he said HOWARD looked like one. Go back and re-read my post. You really look foolish. Oh and this is my only reply back to you. So enjoy talking to yourself if you reply.

  • im black, nd i think this was blown out of proportion.

  • He used to call his grandkids little monkeys and there's a clip of him doing a college game about 10 years earlier and a white guy is running the ball and Howard goes "look at that little monkey run". Just an expression and obviously he didn't realize it when he said it.

  • @Gossage54 Don't you mean the preseason game in 1972 when Howard Cosell made a "monkey comment" about KC Chiefs running back Mike Adamle? Nobody has ever been able to provide the exact game details of the "Look at that little monkey run" incident which occurred in the mid '70s. Remember, the Alvin Garrett incident as shown in this video happened in 1983. My question to all is --- where is the infamous missing clip of Look at that little monkey run??? What player was it about?

  • @inventorr77 You could be right. "That little monkey gets loose" or something like that may have been the actual comment, but I could have swore I saw a clip where he had used the "running comment" but I could be wrong. I read his autobiography and he had a chapter on this incident. I have to retrace this one myself. Thanks for bringing this up.

  • @inventorr77 Okay, I was curious about the comment "Look at that little monkey run" and it looks like humble Howard did not say it toward Alvin Garrett but unfortunately, the clip I found was disabled where he did say "Look At That Little Monkey Run, and it seems it was used in a 1972 exhibition game between the Giants and Chiefs just as you said. I knew I heard it somewhere, and somehow, it got translated to Alvin Garrett since the word "monkey" was used in this game. You were correct!!!

  • im black, and i don't really consider the word monkey derogatory towards blacks because according to charles darwin, everyone's a monkey. wll tht nd monkeys can move around quickly. sure they fling crap and get on ur last nerve, bt thts a different story.

  • i like it when monkeys throw peanuts at me at the zoo.....lol...those silly little monkeys!

  • @coreyb3128 LOL!

  • Within context you can clearly see that his use of the word "monkey" was not racial in nature. Cosell was one of Muhammad Ali's closest friends.

  • It wasn't racist. Just a poor choice of words that I imagine Mr. Cosell would have taken back if he could.

  • Cosell called Scott Baio "like a monkey" in a Battle of the Network Stars!!! He wasnt racist, he used a script over and over... I have 18 of the Battle of the Network Stars and it was one from the early 1980's.

  • I wonder what would happen if some black guy said, "Man, that kyke is stupid". You can bet that they'd have his black ass at temple the next day praying to shit the Mossad didn't kill him.

  • Being black myself, I would not consider Cosell a racist at all. Like 20carrocks says, it was a term he used with all races of players, black, white and please remember, he was one of Muhammad Ali's best friends and supporters when Ali refused the draft and was stripped of his championship. No matter the outcome, Humble Howard was right there in his corner.

  • @P90X490104 Good for you, seeing that a white man can use the term "little monkey" and not mean it in a racist way. Wish there were more "little monkeys" like you out there =), and if you take it the way i said it, there will be no offense taken. Being a white man, i like to be able to talk to my friends who are black without a censor button ready when i use a term that's totally normal in any other setting but taken in a racist light. Good for you mate.

  • @JustinCase10261 Appreciate the feedback and no offense taken. I have also called many of my white friends and black friends "monkeys", as a joke, but I would say that as a commentator on a national broadcast, although I felt he did not mean anything by it, he should use more discretion. Lucky44124 remember Cosell using this same term with Scott Baio on a tv program among many other white athletes running the ball. Now using "jungle bunny", "coon", "spade" or "nigga", that's another story.

  • Black people, always hatin on whitey!

  • LOL at Dandy Don's 'WTF did you just say' pause

'He certainly...uh...he certainly does as a matter of fact'

  • If Cosell had not been Jewish, he'd have been fired before the game's end.

  • Its not like he called him a niglet

  • Cosell was no racist. He was a good man.

  • It`s beyond stupid to call this a racist comment .Now the williams sisters might be part Ape ! I`m just kidding stop bein so sensitive Blackey Damn you have the president now relax

  • Who do you think you are with your comnment "of course the black community tries to fault the white people" you lame brain!!!!

  • oops...my bad, it was jimmy the greek. duh.

  • as i recall, Cosell got canned for making the HISTORICALLY ACCURATE observation that "white slave owners used to breed the big black male slave with the big black female slaves to get big black offspring." (paraphrased) chris rock said it some 20 years later as part of his "comedy act." is it any less offensive that chris rock said it?

  • @alitlweird Wrong...that was Jimmy "The Greek" Synodios. He made the comments a restaurant in Washington DC to a TV camera crew that was interviewing him.

  • Hey black people should consider it a complement, monkeys are bad ass. What if he said look at that panther run?

  • monkey... he was reffering to the jumpy, elusive, smaller player right?

so black people can't be called monkeys? how bout white? asian? latin?

cosell wasn't a racist. The problem here is whenever you say something, you have to think about it for a minute.

  • Would it have been that big of a deal if he called a White player a monkey?

  • @jazzbo13 We will never know because that's not what he did!!!!

  • @jazzbo13 We will never know because that's not what he did!!!!

  • @ladysunshyne365 He made the comment during a college game with a white player 10 years before the incident with the black player (See Gossage54 comment) and he also made the comment with many other celebrities who happen to be white. A big deal wasn't made of it when used with them; sort of like rap today, a black man using the "n" word, no big deal, but a white guy using the same word, utter choas.

  • Comment removed

  • @P90X490104 Howard Cosell referred to his little grandchildren as little monkeys. Perfectly harmless. And its not like he said "LOOK AT THAT LITTLE NIGGER RUN". I'm black, and I know FOR A FACT that Howard Cosell was NOT a racist.

  • @Oaklandgirlpitlover1 Well said; in fact that comment made me smile but I am sure if Howard would have said that I would not be laughing...........and you are right, he was not a racist and just a remark he used with everyone. Doesn't everyone realize he went to bat for Ali (aka Cassius Clay) when he refused to go into the army and was stripped of his title. Cosell backed Ali from the beginning to the end.

  • @P90X490104 Great Comment !

  • @indyfan22k Thank you. I was curious about the comment "Look at that little monkey run" and it looks like humble Howard did not say it toward Alvin Garrett but unfortunately, the clip I found was disabled where he did say "Look At That Little Monkey Run, and it seems it was used in a 1972 exhibition game between the Giants and Chiefs. • My father was forced to resign from his job on the city council a few years ago due to the local press making ridiculous accusations of “racism”.

All he did was interrupt a colleague (who happened to be black) during a meeting by doing a silly ‘chimp’ impression- waving his arms, smearing banana on his face & making “Oo-oo-uh-uh” noises. It was obviously just a joke (fellow council members laughed) taken out of context & blown up out of all proportion- his life & career were unfairly RUINED.

  • @SuperTruth77 uuuhhh??? really?? that's not offensive??...you are being sarcastic right??

  • @SuperTruth77 Maybe just a joke..but the worst timing in the world.

  • @SuperTruth77 If this is true your father was out of line. Smearing banana on his face? Really? He deserved to be fired, He knew what he was doing. Learn a lesson and get over it.

  • @mspinkytee Gosh, I guess some people need to be smacked with a 2 x 4 labeled "IT'S A FRIGGIN' JOKE!!!!!

  • @SuperTruth77 Did he fling poop around too?

  • @SuperTruth77 Your comment sucks elephant dick! I'm glad ur racist pops "career" got "ruined"! LOVE IT! Typical honkey shit to down play a racist remark. Hey! My cousin's husband who's a JEW, told me a joke 1 time I'd like to share w u; true story btw. MLK day was approaching, my cousin's jew hubby told me he'd seen a black boy with a MLK doll suited up. A white man asked the black boy: Nice doll, is that a monkey? Jew hubby lol. I didn't find that amusing but u know the cracker/sand nigga way.

  • @SuperTruth77 Smearing a banana on his face? Your dad may not be a racist but he is an idiot.

  • @SuperTruth77 your father should not be running for office, he should be running for his life.one day that will be the thing for all of you to do.

  • @SuperTruth77 I agree. The word "racist does more damage than the words nigger, spic, kike, gook, fag all do combined. 95% of the time somebody is called racist it couldnt be further from the truth. It was a word invented by zionist controlled media to use against people to ruin their reputations and credibility. I mean, all this bullshit political correctness makes people think racist=evil. And notice how its always white being called raicts, never the other way around.

  • @SuperTruth77 I mean, even if there is no proof at all the person is racist once the media calls somebody racist the sheeple that get their thoughts and opinions from what the media tells them to think look at the person as bad. Hell, I bet most of the time what people call racist is just somebody telling the truth. When I hear somebody called racist I support that person because that means they are not a politically correct faggot.

  • @SuperTruth77 If your father did those things than he deserved to be fired for being a fucking moron

  • @SuperTruth77 Then like you....your father is complete asshole.

  • @NYCNorthNJ777 Before you talk about 3/5's of a human being you should educate yourself on the Three-Fifths Compromise. It was slave owners that wanted black slaves counted a 1 whole person and abolitionists didn't want them counted at all. Slave owners figured they'd get more representation if they could consider all slaves apart of the population thus giving themselves more power in Congress. Unfortunately people like you are ignorant and use this to continue to play the race card.

  • Cossell was NOT a racist, but that comment DEFINATELY made me scratch my head.

  • If you honestly believe that Cosell would have ever used that term to describe a white player, you can say there was no racism. I dont believe he meant anything by it but it was still racist. He was a white man from one of the most racist era in this country's history - he definitely had some of the common preconceptions about blacks and it slipped out in this incident. It was unfortunate - I knew right away that it was the wrong thing to say. and it was offensive.

  • I wonder what would happen if "Jimmy the Greek" would have said that. lol

  • Cosell got an incredibly bad rap on this one. No one championed the black athlete in that era more than he did. He made one slip, which he didn't even intend as a racist comment, and the race grievance industry came down on him. Unfair.

  • @swami1 HOw did Cosell champ[ion black athletes? He did what every other white man in that business did: work with and report on the best athletes of the day - who all happened to black for the most part.

  • @npgfunk No one fought for or argued for the rights of the black athlete the way Cosell did, especially in the racially charged 1960's. He fought for players rights and racial equality. Your comment is way, way off.

  • @afiouris doesn't matter. people are only offended when it's convenient for them to be. these people are only pretending to be offended. these are the same people who drop racial slurs as frequently as "and" & "the" appear in the bible.

  • it looked like a nigger caght the ball he didnt mean monkey

  • @18wheeler76 blow it out your ass creep.........

  • The real shame is I don't remember Ali coming to his defense, when Cosell ALWAYS had his back.

  • So no black person ever said honkey, whitey, cornflake, cracker etc...huh?

  • political correctness displacing common sense the downfall of America

  • OMFG - whoever complained about that comment should have been taken out back and shot dead....TWICE. Its people like this that make shit out of nothing.

  • @Gaia029 i.e. Al Sharpton, Jesse jackson, Spike Lee, to name a few.

  • @Gaia029 the complainer was one Donald Wildman. Look him up. Another rabble rouser in the same vain as jackson and sharpton.
