I frequently visit this island and absolutely love it... I heard from people that live on this island that Mike Rowe was just here with a friend for a visit and was so intrigued by this "dirty job" that he decided to make a show segment out of it. If anyone is ever in the Ohio area this Island should be on your list of things to do. It is sometimes referred to as the Key West of the north and as a matter of fact Key West has an event every year dedicated to this island called "Put-In-Bay days"

Plenty of Lake Erie Water Snakes on the shores of Lake Erie in Ottawa and Erie County , Ohio. (Huron, Port Clinton, etc...) . We come across most of ours on the islands though.

They are very easily confused with the much more common Northern Water Snake.

i went to this island on lake eerie we walked by one of those black tarps and we lifted it up to see what it was and there were snakes everywher lol. it was cool and there were snakes all near the campsight. we left them alone but it was cool.
