some wires help the performer with some tricks, but if the performer falls, Cirque du soleil has to deal with lawsuits. Thats why acts that threatened a performer has a safety wire.

They have safety wires, but I'm pretty sure that's because there's no net beneath this act. Wouldn't want them to fall to their deaths if they made a mistake. I doubt the wires influence their performance at all. Amazing and inspiring, as usual for cirque de soleil.
