  • FUCK YOU FUCKing Square Fucking Enix this is why i will always fucking hate square fucking enix taking a good game that was going to be released FOR FREE and shutting the project down you fucking idiots i hope you fucking go to fucking hell for all i fucking care you fucking faggots and to rub it in more they shut down the other chrono trigger (a.k.a the 3d version) ROT IN HEL FUCKING SQUARE FUCKING ENIX!!! this is why i will not shall not buy your fucking bullshit !!!!!!!

  • Does anyone know where i can download this damn game??? ahhh!

  • when was this supposed to come out?

  • @elkhuntersniper

AW SHIT LEARN TO FUCKIN OH SHIT FUCKIN READ

  • @demerda HOLY FUCK YOU DID'NT NEED TO BITE MY DAMN HEAD OFF

  • This should be made in to reproduction carts when it's 100% finished

  • @SuperBlackjack22

Dude, Square Enix Sent a Cease and Desist E-mail so they won't Finish it

  • Comment removed

  • Too bad it isn't released. Square Enix should have make a new sequel for Chrono Trigger.

  • @Cococrash11 Search for Flames of Eternity

  • Comment removed

  • I've downloaded and played it...original is better but this is good too.

  • 98% done, but it will never be released.

  • I dont bhate Square, they make games I like...

I just hate stupid decisions of ending fan games

  • Atlus= Squaresoft use to be. Best thing to do is stop buying Square Enix games all together and go for their best competitor Atlus. Atlus has released games like Persona, Disgaea, and the Tales of Phantasia - Tales of Vesperia. All exciting rpgs with great twists and amazing gameplay. If you want what square use to be go to Atlus I don't think you'll be too disappointed people.

  • By squashing worthy efforts like Crimson Echoes, Square-Enix is making it hard for me to support them. Chrono Trigger DS was decent, but there could have been so much more. I'm not waiting for another 15 years for a true sequel. If they really can't be bothered to make a sequel or add-onn, SE should have bought out the assembled Crimson Echoes code, and polished it up for DLC. Their Cease and Desist order was not the best move they could have made.

  • actually, there are links to this game in the internet, unknown users are doing a great job creating exciting versions of games that we loved when we where young;

Damm you square executives! Damm you all!

You can't take this from us, if you can't create a decent new version of chrono trigger, let people who can do it!

I really loved this game when I was young, and it's one of the few linear rpg's that I played more than once...This deserves something other than gather dust in my shelves.

  • If you'll excuse me, I have to go shoot the executives that made the decision to send the cease and desist letters to the people who made this and "Chrono Trigger Resurrection".

  • do someone know if this game has story of Chrono Cross? because I didn't played Chrono Cross yet, and don't want to be spoiled

  • @Square-Enix: (XD) Make Chrono Break already, or just shut the f*** up and let fans do something with Chrono Trigger/Cross

  • What if people hate Square?

They won't stop buying their games.

They won't stop freaking suing people who actually have the initiative and creativity of creating a quasi-new game and DECENT to tie all plot holes for once and for all not new games with just insert more holes and after 20 years is left to dust.

  • *starts building pc so it can pirate all future square games*

  • HOLY SHIT! THE FROZEN FLAME!

  • The 16-bit era was the golden age for all gamer throughout the world.

  • This game has been leaked by an unkown user google it. You can play it!

  • I LOVE YOU GUYS

    FOR MAKING THIS ;3

  • great news! on emuparadise exist a leaked full version of this game.came out today (19th january, wednesday),what are you waiting for? go play it! :D

  • You had 98% ogame completed and you gave up because of one mail? You should fight for your project, not simply give up. Or at least give the sources to someone else, who is not scared of Square.

  • @DarthWiader Cease & Desist letter. If they keeped going, they would have been sent to JAIL. Luckily your entire post is pwned by the fact that they DID keep going after things cooled down. The full version is out a few days ago.

  • @DarkonFullPower Maybe some people would be eager to simply delete efforts of 5 years hard work. I couldn't. If I would receive that letter, I would throw it into trashcan. Google ''Cease and desist wiki'' (and by that I mean NOT article on wikipedia). There are many teams who recived such letter and it did not stop them. They gone to underground (actually, that wiki is devoted for fan translations, but it should works for any fan project). And they've banned japanese corporations IPs :D.

  • @TheAlkochochlik I didn`t say there was no way to stop it. I said that did just what you said in your post.

  • Oh, how goddamn adamant they have to be releasing all those new Final Fantasy games with the ruined battle system and play 'Fangame Crusher' when fans try to remind us all of how the games SHOULD be like. Either allow the great nostalgia-filled tributes or GIVE IT AT LEAST A TRY to bring back the old glories of gaming YOURSELF.

  • fuck you, square. just fuck you.

  • Square died about 10 years ago. Their grand finale was FF-X, one of greatest 128 bits' RPGs. Now what we see is a poor company, making failures after failures, porting their good memories to new era consoles with only one purpose: SALES.

  • @luciojrmega666

Well I must say you are almost correct. Although I do believe that Square has totally screwed over Final Fantasy in my opinion they have not totally ruined Kingdom Hearts (at least not yet). 358/2 Days was one of the best games in the series and to date the only game that has made me cry and I really don't cry easily. Just review your opinion a little, ok?

  • omg that was amazing. 10 stars!

  • i'm learning some tips on Temporal Flux, but is very far to manage to hack it in a good way

  • Wow this looks like it could've been an incredible game. I am amazed by the extreme amount of effort and cleverness put into a fan-made game. I'm sad that it was destroyed because of Square considering it was just a fan game. I would've payed both the makers, and Square $50 each for this game.

  • Most Tales of Games are only being released in Japan, the Tales of Creators are going out of business, we may never see a Tales of Game again, or even a PS3 port of Vesperia, Square Enix is sending cease and desist letters to fancreators, releasing worse and worse Final Fantasy games year by year, and thinks that a way to improve themselves is to release a game with a manly character abroad, while a femme domestically, and casual gaming is taking over. What a fine world for gaming it's becoming.

  • Someone must know where I can find the best ROM leak available of this...

  • @Threeleggedyoyo

torrent or p2p networks, everything illegal is easy to find there

  • lets go deface square enix's sites. maybe they'll learn there lesson.

  • Fuck Squaresoft and Enix merged. Just fuck the hell off. This project would have never harmed anyone. I used to be a FF saga fan (until ffVII, even though I have played VIII and IX), I hated the characters development from FFX on, very spineless, poor, childish, gay. That's what happens when you do something for money and no more for passion. Fantasy is a power of mind, expresses through arts, and it is something thin that colours with beautiness all of human eras. Long live emulators.

  • ya me lo di vuelta es bueno pero lento :P

  • words can not describe how i hate square enix after they took this hack down

fuck your final fantasy square enix! dont you think we would like to play other games like chronno trigger! make new games and not remakes of old ones! damn!

at least there is demo 2 of this game to download anywhere on the internet and you cant stop it!

  • SQE shut this down? What tools. If they wanted to be assholes they shoud've waited until it was finished, bought it for a few hundred thousand, then sold it themselves.

  • This was a tribute to Chrono Trigger, it was intended to celebrate their creation, and they took it down. Good going Square. I hate you now.

  • oh my god this game looks fucking incredible! i wish it was released!!!

  • Man this is some professional stuff.

  • man FUCK SQUARE SHIT

  • This is precisely the reason that people hate Square anymore. Want to get us back on your side Square? Here are 3 very important tips.

    1. Stop suing everybody for paying TRIBUTE to your games.

    2. Stop releasing port after port after port of the old games & just make a fucking new one! I know it is hard, but I'm sure there has got to be SOMEONE creative on the payroll.

    3. If you insist on releasing "enhanced" *HA!* versions of old games, make FFVII so the fanboys will finally shut up.

  • the problems is not Square but ==> Enix

  • @TheShadowBrigade I agree with your points, but if fans want a remake on their favorite game, then what's the problem? Remakes aren't bad things, you know...

  • @Shinkatagi THANK YOU.

  • @TheShadowBrigade Stop making the FF series shittier and shittier. It got horrible at 7 and never recovered

  • @TheShadowBrigade completely agree, and wtf was up with that teaser trailer for ff7 remake anyway?

    SquareEnix: Hey, let's port ff7 for ps3

SquareEnix: Ok, but let's make a teaser trailer first so we can get some feedback from the general public

Fans: YES WE WANT! WE WANT! WE LOVE YOU SQUAREENIX! *Cries out in blissful joy*

SquareEnix: Nah screw it, to much effort

    Fans: Fuck you!

  • @TheShadowBrigade

    Heh, square is dead.

    Enix took over it.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheShadowBrigade 4. Stop making bad games.

*Points at the 3rd Birthday and FF13*

  • @TheShadowBrigade this is the best comm related to square on youtube

  • @TheShadowBrigade you make some valid points

  • i think they should make this game

  • DEATH TO SQUARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • They could just "leak" the finished product out to torrents... Square Enix actually can't do shit if it spreads out to the public.

  • @ReaperX3ro

That's not quite how it works, dude. The "Crimson Echos" team has a court order to never release any materials related to this fan game other than what they'd already released (that can't be helped) and their original creations (i.e. their artwork and so forth is their own property). Any leak would mean someone on the team broke that court order, and there'd be a legal investigation and a hefty fine for the person(s) involved, at the VERY least.

  • damn duuude it looked fucking awsome!

    goddamn squeenix fucking everything up!

  • Square's decision sucks, it's like they're afraid of the competition (Seeing as they release DS port for 11 years old game with barely any new content). Still, they've got the law on their side, cause you need a rom to play Crimson Echoes. So that makes me wonder (please don't laugh too hard): is it possible to create CE as a mod for CT:DS that would require original cartridge in order to play? If it were, Square would have no legal basis to prevent the game from releasing.

  • @TGPotW

But roms are a grey area in the law. Technically speaking, they're all-but illegal because you "own" the game ONLY in its original format, a cartridge in the case of the SNES version of Chrono Trigger, the version required to play this... err... mod\rom hack.

Square-Enix is enforcing it's copyright, the right to choose what to do with their own creations. There's nothing wrong with that in the least, sad as it is to see this seemingly great fan game go to the winds.

  • Why can't square be more like capcom. They're always fine with fangames.

  • so did this game somewhat reveal what that attack on guardia was all about in 1005ad?

  • I'm still absolutely pissed that this wasn't released. Surely there is some big name lawyer who's also a huge video game nerd that would take on the case pro-bono? Ah well, maybe not.

  • Wow, I really hate it when companies hate on someone who isn't even making money on a fan project. I bet it's just the dollars that they themselves wish they could make. Square I love you, I really do but that's a douche move. Can you at least try to back them? I'm pretty sure they wouldn't even want the pay out just the fact that other hard core CT fans got to play their game.. Hell, if they got to release it, where were they gonna get the money from? The limewire toothfairy?

  • @jakemouse

It's not about money at all. It comes down to copyright laws and the fact that roms aren't *technically* legal (right now it's a grey area, but the understanding is that you MUST own the EXACT version of a game you have a ROM or ISO image for- i.e. the SNES version of Chrono Cross, not the DS or PS1 version).

  • fuck you square this game looks so promising!

  • could they not just leak this on a torrent? Square fucking pisses me off sometimes. So much so that I'd wish they'd go bankrupt again, but I wouldn't want Enix to get dragged with them so I'll forget about it

  • i am the biggest fan for CT for more than a decade now. Never stopped loving the game.

Prove me if I'm wrong, but this 'update' to the original game does not look like a worthy sequel. I mean i am sure the developers spent a lot of time on it (for that i am greatful). However you must realize how epic the original CT was. If is basically better than every Final Fantasy ever made (including 7).

  • play it before you pass judgement

  • Badlores, check out the CEMemorial vids to have a look at the whole thing. CE turned out to be pretty epic, and a worthy sequel IMHO.

  • Technically, Melchior is a time traveller, putting quite a large hole in the plot. Lavos sent him from 12,000 BC to 2,300 AD when he awoke at the Mammon Machine. That would make him immune - however, even if it didn't, he's the leader of Chronopolis and the inventor of the Epoch and Neo-Epoch. Surely he'd just take a short trip somewhere in order to gain that immunity.

  • Nuts! I meant Belthasar.

  • That's not quite how the immunity works. In a nutshell as I understand it, Crono and the gang were disconnected from the timeline and immune when the Masamune was removed in 19,995BC. They returned to 2300AD and saw a new timeline and a new 'version' of Belthasar. Belthasar travelled to 2300AD five years before that (12,000BC) and thus he will always be vulnerable to changes made in the 'interim' - between 12,000BC and 2300AD.

  • Melchior however time-travelled from 12,000BC to 1000AD FIRST, and THEN came to 2305AD later. This gives him some experience of the 'interim' which Belthasar does not have. It doesn't give him immunity from any changes made between 1005AD and 2305AD. However, it DOES give him immunity from alterations to the Mystic War, which occurred in 600AD. And since he lived in 1000AD for five years he has experienced the first timeline and taken that experience with him to Chronopolis.

  • So in actuality, after the removal of the Masamune, the Melchior in 2305AD actually IS a 'new version' of Melchior. But that doesn't matter, because all new versions of Melchior encountered in 2305AD will ALWAYS have memories of the original timeline's 1000-1005AD and his time travel to and from there. What he wouldn't be immune from would be changes made between 1005AD and 2305AD, just as Belthasar is not immune to changes made in the interim of his one big hop from 12,000BC to 2300AD.

  • And that's the deal when Belth says he is 'not a time traveller like you and Melchior'... it is a little ambiguous in the video. Could he fix this by travelling around? Sort of. If he travelled and experienced an era in that timeline, he would be immune to any timeline alterations that affect that era. However, he doesn't want to constantly hop around the place. That's where Chronopolis comes in - full of 'Agents' to run around monitoring timeline changes and reporting back to him!

  • So in a nutshell, all new versions of Belthasar arriving in 2300AD from 12,000AD are vulnerable to alterations in the interim. Hence he is vulnerable to the removal of the Masamune which occurred 5 years after he left. But all new versions of Melchior arriving in 2305AD will always carry memories of what he learned about World History (12,000AD-1005AD history) during his stay in Crono's time. This includes the Mystic War (600AD) that the removal of the Masamune altered. Hope that helps!

  • Don't worry everyone, me and my team have already "borrowed" this from square enix's vault the day when they confiscated it. We are currently cracking the archives and will continue making the game if we get through.

  • You'll bite your tongue once you play the leaked version. It's awesome.

Pretty strong word you used there; "screwing"? I don't think so. Think of it as fanfiction is to a book. It's basically a group of fans' interpretation of how CT should have continued. They were just gonna share it to a bunch of fans when Square pulled the plug on their project...

Don't like it, don't play it. It's your loss really...

  • Until Square-Enix stop being dicks, I'm going to continue boycotting them.

  • ...Square Enix is not a company that is being a dick.

  • Yes, they are. It's not the first time they've shut down a fan remake. And for what? They weren't intending to make profit off of these remakes. This is no different than written fan fiction or OCRemixes...

  • just wait, someday hackers will destroy everything they have

  • well i'm hoping that a rich man goes to square enix and kick their ass, after that he takes a lot of people and start to re make CT crimson echoes

  • Much danger! planet...UNHAPPY!

  • FFFFFFFFFFFFF-

  • After hearing this, I downloaded a ROM of FF IV with a smirk.

  • Comment removed

  • Uh, apparently you don't have access to the good stuff sonny. Kids these days...

I just finished grabbing it off of a private tracker and the game is FINISHED. There are minimal bugs which were to be expected anyway.

  • It's still an ancient version of the game. Over 2000 bugs (yes, counted in a bugtracker) were fixed since the leak version.

  • God damn it, i love Square-Enix games, but the company is a dickhouse.

  • WAIT WHAT THE SHIT

  • Kind of a dick move, waiting until it was 98% done to issue a C&D.

  • Man what the hell.

    Wow SE, just WOW

  • W8 a minute, maybe SE took a copy of the patch (cheap assholes) b4 sending the C&D on the project. Try 2 start a petition, it can still be saved with the amount of fans there is for this game!

  • they worked 5 years on this? this game must be long

  • Sadly. Square Enix leased a C&D order for them to cancel this project. Similar to the one for Chrono Resurrection

  • 現在のスクウェア・エニックスは日本でも結構嫌われてるよ

Current square Enix is disliked plenty in Japan.

  • You are form Japan? Great news lolol.

At least we know they are plenty hard fan of CT on Japan ;)

  • At this rate I'm expecting fanfictionDOTnet to be shutdown by SE.

  • Why the fuck doesn't Square Enix just purchase what they already made for whatever they deem fit, then just sell Crimson Echoes branded as Square Enix. I've waited for far too long to play another Chrono Trigger and was pumped until Enix decided to take a huge shit on their fanbase by pulling this nonsense.

  • well five stars.

    f**k you, Square Enix.

  • square enix sucks a lot! Killing a fan made game!!??

SQUARE ENIX DONT RESPECT THEIR FANS, SQUARE ENIX DONT LISTEN THEIR FANS, SQUARE ENIX SUCKS!

Stop with silly acts and listen a little your fans!

A lot of people want a chrono trigger 2 or another chrono game to continue the chrono trigger story and you, Square-Enix, only give to us a remake for DS!? Ok, continues making a lot of remakes, we probaly buy a game for other company.

  • Damn Right!

  • I agree,

  • this C&D is a very sad a crude move on Square's behalf but if this inspires gamers everywhere to make their own mods then it might be a good thing in the long run.

DOWNLOAD TEMPORAL FLUX BEFORE IT'S GONE!!

    START YOUR OWN FAN-FICTION GAME!!

    SQUARE-ENIX CAN'T POSSIBLY SUE EVERYONE!!!

    FIGHT THE POWER!!!

  • savecrimsonechoes

    dotcom

  • I wish it was possible to shrug, pay Square Enix the sum they want, and then release the damn thing with a cold smile. But you'd never get that much cash.

  • I'm glad I put my last Swedish Öre on Squenix years ago...

  • Most Epic Trailer EVAR....

I'm thinking about boycotting SE after this, even though they were technically in the rite with this.

Can they at least keep the code? i mean... I have no idea about ROM hacking, but is it a totaly lost cause>?

    *~t3h C.

  • I could see Square-Enix killing this project -- but why did they wait until it was 99% complete? Seriously, 3 weeks short of release on May 31, 2009, after 5 years of development and NOW they pull out the CnD letter?

Fuck you, Square-Enix. I've never played through any of your games and you've made damn sure that will continue.

  • As someone who has never played Chrono Trigger before and as someone with no interest in this rom hack:

Fuck you, Square Enix. Way to be dicks.

  • this would of beenn so ill

  • you mean it would been awesome right?

  • I'm going to boycott Square-Enix a bit by not buying the next game I would have done and get something else instead.

This was non profit. I see no difference between this and stopping someone who has drawn a picture of Chrono, then when they were putting the finishing pictures to it before making copies for free, saying 'i'm sorry, cease and desist.'

    Its just pointless.

The release of this game could have done nothing but increase interest in their brand and increase their sales.

  • hack

  • can't someone "hack" the site and steal the resources from the development team and than put the items on piratebay or demonoid for the community to finish?

  • no because all hacking tools, products, and any sign of hacking has been removed the site. So the site COULD be hacked, but there would be nothing there to take.

  • Comment removed

  • i always wonder why sega never did a cease and desist order to streets of rage remake but square enix does it to fan-based chrono trigger games : / ?

  • GUYS! I'm really hoping this is heard by the Crimson Echoes team... Yes, you had to "officially" cancel the project. There's nothing saying someone couldn't have "hacked into your server" say...an "angry CT fan" and "stolen" the game and oh, I dunno.. "posted it up on torrent sites, completed, for all to enjoy." :D Just sayin! Great way to cheat the system, and once it hits torrent sites there is NO way Square Enix can stop it. You're not at fault, and the "uploader's" identity remains anon

  • Man, this is very well conceived.

Square enix should stfu since chrono cross was a big disappointment to alot of people.

Hell, even CT DS didnt have much content added, they should hire groups like yours and that 3d CT game.

  • =(

    Damn

    Just... release it, please

it looks awesome and i'm sure it took a long while to develop it =(

    come on, guys.

    stupid Squenix.

  • Whoever does the next Crono Trigger sequel. Please, for the love of the gods, do it anonymously, in secret, and do NOT announce the release.

  • Maybe you should do it yourself then, smart ass.

  • Comment removed

  • maybe SE is making a true sequel.

  • I hope its just if there where to make an announcement then maybe projects like chrono resurrection would not even exist, maybe there will be announcement soon" hint hint"

  • =(( sorry to hear the terrible news

  • All they had to do was just casually give a USB thumb drive out to a "friend" that just so "happened" to have the IPS file in a folder about 4 or 5 trees down from the root directory.

Square can't do jack if they can't prove it was your fault. If it leaks, it leaks. They can't prove it was you.

It's similar to the "Open/no password WIFI router defense" used in MPAA and RIAA copyright cases. worked every time. It's the nature of the net. No ones info is safe, so nothing is unleakable.........

  • they were told to erase all known copies of the game, so if a leak did happen they are still held responsible.

  • Wouldn't hold up in court. If they are sincere enough and claim to remove all the copies it isn't on them. MPAA and RIAA tried to do this and the same defense worked against them. They'd be fine.

It's like the old "Open wifi router" defense.

  • No it wont. People DO NOT have the complete version of the hack, since it was never realized, and in fact never finalized. If a full version were to appear on the internet,it will be obvious that they DID NOT ERASE all copies of the game like the C n D letter ordered to thus they will be fined and tossed in prison for not obeying the order and also altering and hosting roms which is illegal.

  • Wow SE.. :/

    wow.

  • Don't say you're taking it down just because of the C&D. Just call it "chrono trigger forever" and release screens every few years.

  • Damn the torpedos and ask for donations to pay the fine.

  • ;_______;

  • SE must hate their fans.

  • SE now look like huge b******s for waiting 5 years to bring this down.

The fan group should release it anyway (hooray for torrenting) and feign ignorance, as long as there is no concrete-proof linking them to the game it's ok right? (They can change the title, change the credits to show alter-egos rather than real names etc.)

Can somebody in the know explain any faults with this plan to me?

  • WAIT WAIT WAIT. Are You SURE that Square Enix is behind this? Are you sure it's not the sever host being paranoid?

I mean that's what happened with ]EE[, the server host was too afraid of being sued to allow the textures to be released, despite Nintendo not doing anything and the textures being legit. Maybe it's the same situation here.

  • Yes, it was SE. Godaddy etc. didn't contact us.

  • You just know one of the guys who helped create this must've held on to a copy of the game cause I really doubt they would just throw five years of work down the drain. Lets just pray a leaked version hits the web shortly. I'm also surprised at how square is all uptight about fan-made games based on their own creation. When people make their own versions of Mario games, you don't see Nintendo get all pissy with cease & desists. But for some reason square likes having bugs up their ass.

  • Fuck you Square Enix. Seriously. One of the worst developers ever. They treat their fanbase like dirt. They never EVER give back to them.

I say, boycott their stuff. Screw up the opening sales of FFXIII. That'll show them.

Also, are they allowed to shut this down? Get some legal guy to look into this. Maybe its not over yet. and if worst comes to worst. LEAK LEAK LEAK LEAK!!!

  • dear chrono compendium: ignore this bullshit C&D and torrent the damn thing.

  • i dont understand why square would do this. its not like it was for profit. that is some bullshit!!

  • The new portraits look horrible.

  • i think i may have just been convinced to never purchase square games again.

  • Bitches and Whores

  • I was kinda skeptical towards Chrono Resurrection only because it was in 3D, but this looked awesome & Square fucked it all up. This is Fan fiction at its best. And why would Square care if it was a rom file? A CD or Cartridge is one thing, but is square really that obtuse? Don't get me wrong, I love square, but this was a colossal dick move on their part. I say someone leak the damn thing just to show Square that not all projects are meant for profit. Its for the fans, by the fans.

  • I second this, someone leak it.

  • NO WAIT.

    Someone "accidently" leak it.

    Cause. . . accidents happen.

  • I hope that you can find a loophole or find a way to get on to the internet without getting sued.

Or I wish that Square Enix would just published this.

  • Typical SE douchebaggery, wait till something is nearly done, then rush out a cease and desist.

Still though...if they had been smart, they'd have released the game secretly before SE could send them any letter.
