he looks the correct age. his voice is beautiful. what could go wrong? how did it go in bilbao? i hope he was fabulous. there is something 'inocent' about him. thank you for including this.
it means hitting the attack of a note underpitch and then sliding up into the correct pitch, thats what the scoop refers to. its use and its tastefullness are debatable.
excellente, gran voz y tiene una gran similitud con la de pavarotti (oviamente guardando las distancias) pero tiene un potencial único el mejor ames... que he escuchado en mucho tiempo (obviamente despues de los grandes)
Serious...does anyone know his marital status....I am so in love. I just saw him at the Vienna Staatsoper singing in "The FLying Dutchman"...this video does not due justice to the true size of his voice.
Very good. I think he doesn't needs the glisando in the C's as he did it directly in the last one. A voice more from the body that the head... good color of the High C's and the most difficult part of the aria (all thath are not the high C's) was very well sung. May be he sshould beware of the expression... may be he should looks like if he was doing a bit of effort singing this!! hehehehehe!
He's not bad, but if you want to hear the best since Pavarotti, listen to Juan Diego Florez. He doesn't even scoop on the high C stacatti like Pavarotti does.
Opinions always differ, but Pavarotti's rendition is the standard by which this piece is judged, and I'm pretty sure all those who are educated in music agree. Pavarotti is the best. No questions.
Pavarotti is by no means the most most agile tenor ever to walk the earth, generalizing and calling him the best is false, because hes not, it depends on the repertoire. While this role is what made him famous originally, singers like Florez are better in most bel canto roles, JDF is much more agile than pavarotti,a dn pavarottis high Cs sound more strained than this guy
I meant he was the best at singing this aria, not in general. I'd just have to disagree, I think Pavarotti's C's sound more natural than his, and while JDF does seem to be agile he seems to be straining quite a bit. If I had to choose the best tenor voice we have recordings of (just based on their singing) I'd have to go with Jussi Bjorling.
He hooks into the first high C!!! I love this guy. Who cares about his French. He has personality and sounds comfortable with the tessatura. Since Pavarotti became famous with this aria we have gotten mainstream tenors like Alanga and Alvarez trying to get through it. They manage barely. This is a piece that requires confidence and brio as well as top notes. This little guy's got it.
Bravo Cosmin!! All I could suggest you, for this aria, is really to fix your French. It is really too well known to be pronounced incorrectly. I admire the way you technically face this aria, I think I would do pretty much the same thing, if I were as good as you!
I'm not sure about his French....not exactly correct in spots. The voice isn't bad, although the first section is WAY too choppy for my taste. I'd like it better if he'd follow through on his phrasing a bit. The ends of the phrases are just dropped.
I also don't need you to judge me. Who the devil asked you? Perhaps you are an Oxford graduate and I had no knowledge of your genius. Or just an ox (without ford)? Mind your own business, boy, and restrict your comments; don't bother me. I've never made any awkward comment toward your person. I didn't even care if you exist. And I don't want to care from this moment on. Otherwise, I could become quite annoying. Hope I made myself understood.
Young tenor, good voice, some technical problems, needs work, I thought he had a fair bit of trouble around F# and G because of his faulty technique. His high C's (which he aligned rather than separated) were quite good. Would be curious to hear the voice in a theatre.
I'll tell you what I don't understand...why does the conductor have the orchestra diminuendo rather than cut off during the final high C? That's the tenor's chance to shine as I'm sure we all know and his voice gets a bit lost in the orchestra.
Ok... My first language is french and I can tell you : he has a horrible prononciation not only that, he has no idea of the meaning of the words he's singing! As for other tenors that sing high Cs like he does, I dont know, but I can tell you who can sing them way better Pavarotti and Florez for a start. I don't want to be a pull down but I only hope this comment will help the guy and he'll take this the positive way!
The guy sings at Wiener Staatsoper.Where do you sing?I did in the Romanian Radio Choir. He can hit DO.Can you achieve at least SI naturale?I can. Both of them. And I don`t judge. But a pertinent judge is just too much for me and I have to remind him where his place is.
rofl! If you want to present yourself as professional work as professional dont be "a wanna be" learn your strength and weaknesses(which is what I was pointing out) and work on them. If your not ready pass or youll make a foul of yourself. I c glowing future too just keep workin'. Now doktor I think you have no idea to who youre speaking to so scram and keep workin' on those Cs cause apparently its the only important thing. (mehehe) Good luck!
I think I made a pretty good idea about you.can`t argue with someone that doesn`t know how a stage looks like from the other side, one that has no clue about technique, one that wil never sing a meezly lullaby as good as I sing today, with only half of lungs, the 9 high C`s aria from Donizetti. And one more thing:if you can`t spell english, stop.Write french, or you`ll make a FOOL of yourself.End of discussion.
Watch for this bel canto voice-he could become a household name...those high C's are effortless.Would have been nice to hear the audience reaction?...just for a few seconds !
Well, the audience was quite a tough one - some thousand invited people by T-mobile in the huuuge conference centre. The concert was magnificent - an all Belcanto and Verdi program with Cosmin Ifrim and Victoria Loukianetz. I will eventually post some more clips.
Thanks...I appreciate your response, and I assume you can see a glowing future in this fine voice(as long as he takes it slowly), and sticks in the bel canto realm where he is so suited.Look forward to more of your postings-take care!

Pavarotti never sang this one well even once. To hear somebody really great at this aria search for "Yang Yang ah mes amis" and ignore the pianist.
