I just this morning saw the Johnny Winter Guitar lesson video and he spoke very highly of Gate. There's a lot to Gate not many know. Check that video out. Gate's badder than I originally thought. Yeah, music drips off him indeed. Wish I had known of him earlier.

I love this man!!!! He was such a great player and human being. My favorite quote by him was "you have a brain use it". He was talking about doing what is natural to you as opposed to being a copy cat. Nobody can be you better than you. What a wonderful guitarist.

God bless his soul. It lives on with his great music.

Playing style very much like Albert Collins. Saw him and Hoyt Axton together moons ago now...fantastic show.

Gate was playing in the 40's out long before Albert was.

Albert never had the kind of dexterity to work the fretboard like Gate..nobody did.

let me add, lately ive been learning how to finger pick ( i started when i was learning slide ) in the last coule of days i havent used my pck at all, but today i had a little confidence drop, thinking ive would never be able to play as smooth and fast as i did with the pick with my fingers, but this clip regained my faith in my slef, thanks Clarence!
