Someone please upload the scene when all three are in the car pulled over by the cop. So funny! " My God did you hear that? She's not feeling very well.. I've got a dying woman on my hands and you wanna look for a short in the trunk? LOL
Sooooo disappointed, going to see Dolly here in Australia and looked up the setlist and shes not singin fricken 9-5:(( or Islands in the Stream...... I want a refund!
Jane fonda was and is a babe - a real hotty - if you dont bleive me and your a man - check out her latest topless pics - she was married to a plastic surgeon he and was good at his job - ok !!!!!
Its not even 9 to 5 anymore companies dont want to pay us a lunch break that is forced anyway. Now it is 8 to 5 or 9 to 6 or whatever. If I my schedule is 8 to 5 that mean I have to devote those hours to your company and because I get an hour lunch does not mean I can do whatever the hell I want
You're a sexist egotistical lying hypocritical bigot......................classic line from this movie, and I love it..........one of the best comedies of the early 80s indeed
I'm a guy and I thought this movie was hilarious. I just saw it on TV. When they think they killed the boss and took the wrong body from the hospital was the best part.
I'm a guy, and even I love this movie! One of the best comedies of the 80's. Interestingly, it was the 2nd biggest hit of 1980, only The Empire Strikes Back made more money that year (and nothing was gonna beat the Star Wars phenomenon that year).
Look, I got a gun out there in my purse, and up until now, I've been forgivin' and forgettin' because of the way I was brought up. But I'll tell you one thing: if you ever say another word about me or make another indecent proposal, I'm gonna get that gun of mine and I'm gonna change you from a rooster to a hen with one shot! Don't think I can't do it.
This brings back such wonderful memories. I was a secretary when this first came out, and after work a bunch of us "girls" went to see it. We laughed so hard we were in tears and grabbing each other and gasping. This movie remains one of THE funniest and best written comedies ever made. Jane Fonda saying "I can do M&Ms." ROFLMAOPIMP!!!!
Back in 1987, it was announced that Fonda, Tomlin and Parton would reunite in a film called "The Washington Girls". Somehow, it never made it to the filming stage.
IMO, one of the best movies of all time! True female empowerment movie withouot being annoying but hella funny. I was born in 81 and I think first time my mom showed me this movie was when I was like 4 and seen it numerous times through out my life, last time being a few days ago. Love you mom, miss you so much R.I.P.
at 1:02, is that fran drescher that lily tomlin is talking to? cuz it looks soo much like her from the back of her head and everything....somebody let me know please...cuz i know she played in this show
no i think the musical was amazing...i saw it in NY when they ironed out all the kinks...maybe you just don't know good musical theatre when you see it
Does Dabney Coleman smoke cigars in real life? I know that his character,Frank Hart was a cigar smoker, and I have seen him smoke cigars in his other roles as well.
That may be true but that's a moot point; this was made in 1980 long before any of that and on top of that, that doesn't really have a thing to do with the movie. ;-)
I'm seeing the musical version on opening night september 3rd at the Ahmonson in Hollywood and Megan Hilty is playing Dolaree and Stephanie J Block is playing Lill y Tomlin's role and Allison Janey is in it two Megan is so funny in wicked and Dolly is gonna be there so hopelly ill see her but i know that it's gonna be good
Great movie... My favorite line is when a flustered Lily Tomlin tells the police officer who wants to give them an escort (!), "FORGET IT MACK, WE DON'T HAVE TIME" and speeds off!
within the same sequence, the one that cracks me up is when Lily says, "I've poisoned the boss. You don't think they're not gonna fire me for something like that?"
When I was a child in the 80s I thougt this movie was funny, but it wasn't until I graduated from college and worked as a glorified"executive assistant" that I began to TRULY appreciate its genius and humor...an all-time classic! Thanks for sharing the trailer.
@coolrunnings414 I too watched it as child when it came on HBO in the 80's. I was only about 8 yo but I thought it was great. As I gotten older I've watched again and it makes much more sense and is hilarious. Love it.
Love Netflix...dont have to go thru all the bullshit like this to find a movie and Watch it!

Magnolia296 2 years ago 28
In my opinion, Megan Hilty (who plays Doralee in the musical) delivers the "rooster to a hen in one shot" scene with more emotion than Dolly Parton.
JustinAYC 2 years ago 4
NO i think the musical was horable it didn't give the real movie justice, megan seemed so shy. Dolly did this part the absolute best
