wwwhaaaa! I'm soooo jealous!! why am i born in 1997??? this is the best music ever! all the crap from lady gaga to justin bieber is soo )$&%(= . keep hearing this music in 2050!
@Noodles37UK Just Google the who woodstock wiki and you find all the information (setlist, day, etc.). They played their Tommy album live and other stuff.
I saw "The Who" in Melbourne front standing area and lived to tell about it. This was true, raw rock. The best of the best. The stuff space ships pick up. I saw the "Rolling Stones" in Melb. 15 years before and they were raw as well. Rock is in your blood and will never die; I never saw the Beatles, personally. Billy Thorpe, now there was someone, locally. His guitar was so loud, the fish aquarium cracked. Aussie's have since been known for there dexterity when it comes to audio recording. Try
Whoa, this one of the many aspects of The Who should be made an own genre called raw rock or something. Seriously, this performance has so much texture that we should probably go and let our eardrums check for an abrasion right now. Suberb.
@kraken589 Yes they are, It's just that no-body ever had, or has the rhythm section of The Who. Those two are unmatched, they played like lead instruments and played off eachother like no-one else.
Yea, Pete & Roger are great, but they're the lead singer & guitar player, they always stand out in any good band. But you have to be a bit special to stand out playing the drums or bass and both in the same band!
The fact that their was people that wanted to see all 4 of them really says allot!
@ricadrew that's true i get what you're saying they were all great and john and keith were certainly among the best if not the best bassist and drummer of all time.
@MOOCHSNOOP No doubt and don't forget how great JPJ is! They are hands down the greatest R&R band ever!
In fact, they were so individualy great and so tied to each others playing, they couldn't deal with going on as a band once one of them was gone. How do you replace a Bonzo? The Who kept going after Kieth died, and although they were still sounded great, they were never quite the same band without him. And now without John E, forget it!
ya'know ,from about 2:10 on, it turns it some of the most rippin' tearin' rock n' roll a drunkard like me could hope to hear at 4am(about the time they were playing this gig, 41 years ago)
well get real for once,,its not about old or new music, its about , that every body of u can sing or pickup a guitar and starting a band with freinds, its also about good music,i am a who fan like i am a metallica fan,i just like good music, thx go to my vids, bt way i was 7 wen woodstock was, lolz
there is a version of this song from the "orchestra version" of tommy that has Merry Clayton singing - its actually great. someone should post it (if they can find it)
I can think of more than a half-dozen very difficult careers that Pete has fulfilled already, and probably another half dozen that he could, should he wish it. He's brilliant, particularly as a visionary.
i prefer pete's voice to roger's. apparently pete used to be the lead singer and roger played guitar (badly probably) and roger was influenced by his friends to try an get the lead singing role so he asked and pete got sort of demoted really
@Monoloptic Roger's voice is obviously better. Pete's is still good, but a bit too childish sounding. He was never "demoted" though, he was still the main songwriter, guitarist and occasional lead singer. His guitar playing was a very important part of the music.
wow.... reading the postings here... a lot going on.... I remember watching the Tommy movie at least 20 times... and their concerts, they played alot in the bay area.. all their albums.. but losing keith moon... never got over that..
townsend was locked in a room in NYC by his record company until he agreed to go to Woodstock, he was a new father and just had ended a tour. it paralleled the release of Tommy...and was a good "move"
@jammumu: Dude....this "gig?" This gig happens to be one of the most legendary festivals EVER! This is Woodstock man! You talk about it like they were playing some one off concert that was sparsely attended!
I have a questions for you guys. Last night i came across something on this who bootleg site that said it was the full who preformance from Woodstock VIDEO in black and white!!!!!! my question is is that is that true that it is the full video fo the whos woodstock preformance
First off no ones gunna slip him lcd get ur fact straight and LSD last for a good time and it probably feels like forever and it wasnt different back then LSD was stronger back then, then today
The who were my favorite band growing up in th 60s, but John Lennon changed the world; anyway, I hitchiked there from Arlingon, VA. and I would gues this not being a normal event that the photographers had to change the film somewhere along the line ? The Who were fantastic, I was 15 and had the time of my life!
yeah they do but just at the end of pinball wizard and you here pete say fuck off my fucking stage and guess what they didnt show hoffman get hit i was pissed off badly
He did that there, because he knew that Pete didn't gave a shit about "John"... But he had a point, but it was stupid of him to do just to piss off the Who. But still Pete understood, and he digged it. But he was pissed at the same time.
they wouldnt burn anything thats how the who were they kept everything but lots of stuff is given to other ppl and lost thrown out or watever. if u look at the rock n roll circus the rolling stones threw out all the footage mainly cause the who played their asses off and did better than the stones. so mayby the woodstock developer had it and did whatever
yeah thats true, but i heard in an interview with one of the band memebers that pete burned some footage after touring in america during the late 60's tommy era
did'nt he say that in guitar world and thats how they got the baba oriely lrics because baba oriley is about woodstock but the song was named after petes spiritual guider baba oriley
No it wasn't crap... It's just Pete hated performing for Americans and hippies, and plus someone slipped LSD 1-2 hours before performing, so basically he was really tired from the drug when it was wearing it off... He said it was his worst experience ever.
wwwhaaaa! I'm soooo jealous!! why am i born in 1997??? this is the best music ever! all the crap from lady gaga to justin bieber is soo )$&%(= . keep hearing this music in 2050!
