  • THE REAL THING BABY!!!

  • his brother owns the real one

  • @150peacemaker Thats what i heard too but i also heard his beloved number 1 was buried with him .

  • @kingdiamond69 theres a video of jimmy and some fender master shop builders that flew to texas to look at the number 1 and go over it for the replica tribute guitar that they only made like 100 or so. they sold for like $25,000

  • the real one is buried with stevie

  • @CotymoG No it's not. His Bro Jimmy has it. He let fender custom shop come and inspect every minute detail of #1 even down to measuring the output of the pick ups so they could create the $10,000 exact replicas of #1.

  • @CotymoG No who told you that? The real #1 is with his brother Jimmie.

  • @kevykev38 i thought it was cuz my uncle knew stevie for a while and he once said he would like to be buried with it ...

  • Wasn't the authentic #1 damaged badly when a lighting truss fell on it not long before Stevie died?

  • @TheHammerheart Yes. Broke the neck in two. #1 was getting in bad shape by that time and Stevie had pretty much retired it due to having the frets replaced so many times and years of abuse (check the El Macambo show for how he abused it). His guitar tech Rene Martinez swapped necks with one of his other guitars and finally got a new neck from fender installed on #1.

  • I read Jimmie has SRV's #1 with him at all times ...When fender wanted to document SRV's guitar, they met at a undisclosed hotel. And even though its cool to put a replica in commemorating SRV....Kinda sucks that a LOT of people ( video man in this case) think its actually SRV's guitar.

  • I think Jimmie owns the original N°1. My guess is he´ll never sell it, considering it was his brother´s icon. That is more than Delaney Bramlett did with Harrison´s rosewood, which fortunately is in Harrison´s estate hands.

  • i wonder how many times it was refretted ??

    love to know.

just shows, it aint what you do it is the way that you do it.

dedication is what you need people

  • i wonder if they'll ever display the real number 1. last i heard it is in a vault in texas owned by the Vaughan family.

  • who owm this jewel today?

  • go on ultimate guitar and search his guitars on there it has the answers you guys are arguing about

  • you can tell its fake because on srvs real number one the low e string is practically sliding of the fretboard

  • SRV Number One Guitar is with his brother and im pretty sure of that. I dont think Stevies brother would sell his Little brothers Favourite strat for money.

  • i was gona say not the real thing the real one is lost but no one knows some people think stevies brother or someone like that has it

  • I've seen lots of these replicas from the VH Frankenstrat to David Gilmour's black strat. I think they look a little cheesy and are part of a false market. They are not worth the money. They fake the rust, wear and tear but it falls short of the real thing.

  • Now thats a guitar!!!

  • Yeah! I see this every year at the Dallas Guitar Festival !

  • @jrbryce3 Me too! sweet!

  • I knew it was a replica, because it's missing the white-out on the leg of the body near the strap peg.

  • auction sold for 623,000 dollars

  • I had heard that SRV was buried with #1.

  • I read in Craig Hopkins' bio of Stevie that #1 was originally owned by Chris Cross, and when Craig's book was published

in '08 it was valued at $1,000,000. But any guitar in Stevie's hands was pure magic.

  • I saw this video on Vanderbilly and I thought I'd check out your Youtube page.

    I rated this video 5 stars !

  • Thanks for stopping by. I'll be posting another one with SIXSTRING63 playing the backing track

  • No worries Jimmy Vaughan has the real #1.

  • No, Stevie Ray's actual No. One is in Gatlinburg, Tennessee's Hard Rock Cafe.

  • no it isn't. It's in a bank vault in Austin. The HRC one is another replica.

  • I think the neck received the damage only

  • they sell for like $13,000 just at guitar center, I don't even wanna see the MSRP

  • what ever copy or the real mcoy it still will never be played by the great man himself, SRV is the real attraction so I rather have his music.

  • The original was demolished in a stage accident. It is no longer

  • that isnt true...

  • jimmy has the original ..stevie changed the letters to white script and the pick guard was changed to black with black sides but this is a good copy

  • @playnthebluZ bullshit, his brother has nr one,do your homework before you give a comment!

  • @nitrocel123 you dont no what the fuck your talking about do your homework

  • are these availible to buy

  • first thing i saw was the Gold dot inlays, (before reading the video comments)

and i knew it was a replica. but man how amazing is the detail..... cool video.

  • Thank you!

  • @vizeck that "gold dots" are aged MOP dude

  • Doesnt have SRV in top right hand corner of guitar. Never SRV in shiny writing on fret. Have these people never seen him play?

  • I guess yes

  • @bturnerlandscaping09 the SRV on the corner eventually wore off and he put it on the pick guard but it was in a different font

  • Jimmy Vaughan has the Original....He keeps it in a vault, because it hurts him to bad to see it....I think is exact words were.. Every time I see it, it kicks my a** all over again...Or something like that....So he keeps it in a vault.

  • That's what i've heard as well.

  • Jimmie Vaughn owns the original Number 1.

  • could be?

  • stevie still has his guitar...in heaven...

  • yes sir

  • in all seriousness, the real number one is buried with him

  • That is just a rumor , his brother Jimmie keepa it locked in a vault along with Stevie's other guitars .

  • how would you know?

  • Because I watched an interview with Jimmy Vaughn and Tommy Shanon on Television .

  • whatever happened to No.1? I hope they buried it with him....Although I bet Jimmy's got it.

  • I bet you are correct!

  • Its a replica for sure. The original neck removed years ago, from wear.Numerous necks were added and removed since the original. The last neck was destroyed in a stage accident when a lighting truss did damage to it,the guitar was only slightly damaged. The final neck was added and its the last one remained on the guitar until Fender removed it for the examination to do the replica. The gold hardware was added for asthetics and the script SRV decals were added before a "Tonight Show" appearence.

  • Thanks for the cool info!

  • hey it weird that people treat theyre guitars like crap....its like mostly every strat i see..its all scratched and not card for...i have a cheap strat i treat it like my own baby

  • I have a strat and it's pretty beat up but thats not because I don't treat it good, it's just that there is a certain tone and a certain sensuality that comes with a guitar with scars.

  • Most agreed.

  • the original neck was put back on No # 1

after SRV's death and given back to the Vaughan family.

I think Jimmie has only brought it out for

the fender custom shop to examine it for the custom shop replication.

so if you see SRV's guitar and whomevers displaying it claims that its the real No # 1 then they're full of shit!

  • cheers!

  • I don't remember the original having gold hardware. Anyway, if you had the original, wouldn't you put it behind 4" thick armoured glass?! :o) This is a Fender Custom Shop copy.

I didn't know the original neck had been repaired and pt back on though - cheers for that.

  • This is a replica made by TIm Davis.

See the link on the right.

    Cheers!

  • The original neck was replaced due it being refretted numerous times.

the neck that was on it at the time of the staging accident falling on it and splitting it in pieces was off one of his other guitars. (I think "Reds" neck was put on # 1 an a left handed neck was put on "red"

The gold hardware was something Stevie and Renee Martinez came up with

    while brainstorming one day.

So the only things that are original with # 1 are the neck , the body, and the pickups.

  • Hats off to you, thats an amazing level of knowledge! I suppose Fender would have had a difficult time ageing the hardware, gold being a 'noble metal' :o)

  • is that real No.1 strat? I heard that Jimmy Vaughan is keeping the strat now.

  • Its a replica.

  • DunDamage, it did fall but stevie had it fixed and basicly redone

  • Yeah, that's what i heard.

  • I WANT

  • Don't we all lol

  • just saw Lenny his Red Strat and It was the real thing. Guitar Center bought it for 650k and put it on tour in there shops

  • Really? Cool!

  • Im from Scotia ny and SRV played there at a place called Allen's in like 81' or 2', being only one at the time, I have a picture of my father next to him with the real numer 1, it's around vaughns neck backstage but my dad's got his hand on the fret board, coolest shit ever!

  • This can't be the real thing. When Stevie was playin' a part of scenerey fell on the neck of Number One and snapped the neck right in half. Number One lives with Jimmie Vaughan.

  • You are correct, this is a replica.

  • where did u hear that from??? i don't think this is true though because, did you ever watch the video fender made like a documentry about the making of his replica? They say nbr 1 is in a vault in TX and they strip it down completely to get every detail for the "replica" strat. the neck was fine and his nbr 1 was completely playable. aint got no broken neck haha.

  • Classic foreshadowing. I heard about that backdrop blowing over and that Rene Martinez told SRV the neck was done. They found a replacement neck and rocked on until Alpine Valley. You can't stop what's coming as they say in "No Country for Old Men."

  • That's a pretty good replica !

  • Thanks, it was cool

  • that is not the real number one the real one has the srv decal in a script looking style look at pictures of him around 1990 so that guitar is a replica

  • You are correct this guitar is a replica.

  • down boy down! damn tent popped up.

  • lol

  • i had a dream that i was talking to stevie and he told me all about his guitars and playing. then when i woke up, i remembered what happened to him, and i was bummed out the whole day...

    r.i.p. stevie!!!!

  • SRV RIP!

  • I wonder where SRV's actual No. 1 is at? I think once heard his brother Jimmy say it was locked up in some vault at a local bank in Austin, TX.

  • I heard the same thing.

  • I was there when they laid him down. Man it was probably the hottest most humid day I can ever remember in Texas. I recall my asshole boss got pissed that I took off.

But honestly there was no other place in the universe to be except in that cemetary in Oak Cliff on that day. I didn't care if I lost my job. What a shock...still feel it everytime I hear the cat working his magic.

  • Hmm, yeah i remember that day although i wasnt there. I'll aways remember!

  • Word around Dallas from people who really were on the inside is that shes with Stevie at Laurelland. I guess the family only knows for sure. It was kept secrtet to avoid someone desecrating or robbing the grave. Its not too far of a stretch to imagine the two of them together forever though.

  • Amen to that brother!

  • And I think we should also remember to give a tip of the hat to Jimmie Lee. Not only is he taking care of his brother's legacy (a very noble and honorable thing to be doing) but, truth be told, if it weren't for JLV, plus technology, we wouldn't have many of the goodies and fine things that we have today, like the SRV box set, and the like. Must have taken Jimmie a long time to dig through that truck and get out all of the stored tracks, then putting it all together for us. Mighty nice, I'd say.

  • I agree, back in the day, i saw both for like 50cents a show - $1.25 glass pitcher of shiner hehehe

    rock on!

  • shook his hand twice '85 and '89. what a great man and musician. I was in Austin TX this past Sept for work. it was really cool to see the places SRV played in Austin. very cool town.

Shiner.... yes a very good brew for sure. Never tried it before this last trip.

  • Cool.Went to school in Austin - saw SRV in small clubs with other bands and stuff.

    Great player! Texas SON!

  • Everyone keeps saying "RIP", sheesh, if he's the Stevie I knew (at Frivolous Sal;s Last Chance Saloon in Poughkeepsie) Stevie

is up there playing the house down!!! We've all been blessed and touched to have experienced Stevie and we are doubly blessed to have all the technology that allows us to keep his company.,, sweet Stevie V.

  • PTL

  • I suppose that's the safest thing. Too many people put a monetary value on Number One... the real value is the Stevie connection. I wouldn't mind playing Number One once just to know how she feels and what Stevie felt when he played her but it's better she's safe.

  • Amen to that!

  • Wow!!! The Holy Grail of guitars!!!

Thank you for posting this clip. I have always wondered whatever happened to Number One. Thank you!

    Road

  • Jimmy V. has the real #1 stashed.

    Rock on!

  • "WEEE he heeeeee!"

  • Woot!~

  • Wish my strat had a lefty tremolo.

  • I wish you did too!

  • Excellent video!!! Thank you for your invitation!!!

    5*****

    Gaby.

  • pretty sure his brother has it now, only right for srv's number one influence to keep it for him

  • That's what I hear - Jimmy has it in a safe place.

  • Didnt SRV's "number one" get busted in a stage accident just before he was killed? I saw a picture once where the neck was all cracked and split. I wonder if he got it repaired? Wheres number one now?

I was so choked up when he died....I guess he died just like Holly and the Big bopper.

And the rest is Rock N Roll!....RIP SRV.

  • I've heard things. #1 is in a safe place.

    Rock on! SRV RIP!

  • the neck was having issues ( with a played like him bending the hell out of it go figure) and was swapped out and after he died his tech put the old neck back on and gave the guitar to his family. i read that somewhere

  • Yeah, I hear about that too!

  • looked pretty real to me.

  • Amen to that!

  • Its like a dog wondering where its owner is. Looking at it you can almost tell the guitar is waiting for Stevie to come back and that there is only one person that can play that guitar. It's sad to see it alone

  • Stevie Ray Vaughan. Hands down the greatest muscian to ever hold a guitar in his hands and pluck the stings. When he played he made the guitar have its own voice made that thing talk like no one else could. Whenver I hear him play you know right of the bat who the man is thats playing the song. No one can or will ever be able to play like Stevie. He is the greatest to ever live hands down

    RIP SRV

  • AMEN! RIP SRV

  • I wouldn't say "the best" but certainly one of the best.

  • If only the man himself was standing there holding it could you say music has returned to the world. He was the most awesome musician and inspirational guy to ever play a guitar.

RIP SRV. You are really missed.

  • Well put!

  • agreed, and if anyone ever got to play the ctual first wife...man I bet you could just feel the energy coming from it, just the amount of history in that guitar and the abilities that Stevie had to make that baby sing would make anyone tremble if they had that opportunity

    S.R.V. enthusiast FOR LIFE

  • Right on!

  • God! Can you imagine just how much the actual guitar is worth?!?!

    R.I.P.S.R.V.!!!

  • PRICELESS BRO! SRV RIP!

  • He was buried with her. It spoke to him in life and now.......

  • and now the after life!

    Rock on!

  • He was not buried with the No.1!!! Jimmie has it and lent it out to Fender for a 12 city tour in 2007, along with Claptons Blackie, and an original BB King Lucille.

  • So beautiful...

  • Yes!

  • I think Stevie's brother has number 1. Rene put the original neck back on number 1 after Stevie died and gave it to Stevie's family. I think I remember reading an interview with Jimmie where they asked him where it was and he said something along the lines of it being locked up in a vault. R.I.P. Stevie!!!!!!!

  • That's the word in Texas bro!

    You are right on!

    SRV RIP!

  • I know !!!

  • BUT IT'S THE ORIGINAL?

  • Yup, it's a replica! It looks very real in person!

  • They gave that fender the old relic treatment,Fender is doing a pretty good job in the replica department

  • Thanks!

  • i got to play the real one a couple of times sweetest guitar i ever held,n played like a dream.

  • Wow thats fantastic bro! Tell me more!!

  • people here are a little wrong....

Fender did only make 100 replicas of Number 1

but there are some other companys wich makes replicas of this guitar too

but the fender custom shop one is the best and finest replica!...

  • true my friend. this one is a tim davis replica.

    rock on!

  • this is tim davis' replica

  • You are Correct! Tim is one heck of a nice guy and awesome guitar maker!

  • they have like 1000 of these, then they have SRV artist series strats for a little over 2000 bucks... its like number one, but in mint condition, and its my dream guitar

  • Wow, thanks! cool info..

  • no Stevie's Brother has "first wife" but those Replicas are beautiful, I think fender only made about 1000 of them, I could be wrong but I think thats right. I know theres one for sale in orlando FL in a collectables shop thats going for about 20 thousand dolars, lol its funny b/c they have a guitar from the 60's signed by Jimi Hendrix for only 13 thousand dollars xDDDDD

  • Wow, thanks bro!

  • They sell reliced replicas on ebay for like $2000,but thats a good price,I think that Stevie was burried with number 1 as well.I just would do about anything to be as good as stevie ray,he was truly an ispiration.

  • That we was my rockerdude29!

  • He was not burried with it. His brother has it.

  • wasnt he burried with a guitar?

  • nop

  • say what?

  • I don't thinks so. His brother stashed it man.

  • That's what I understand.

  • I can't believe that is a replica... They did one helluva job on that... Absolutely amazing! Great video and post!

    Thanks, man!

    JimmyG

  • It had me fooled when I first saw it!

  • I wish I could leave my wife and kids in that glass box and bring that guitar home.

Do you think the box is "vented" ?

  • It was just a regular looking glass case bro.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  • hahaha... great :-D.

Love this guitar, i've got the SRV Stratocaster.

    R.I.P. Stevie

  • Cool! SRV RIP

  • man ide do ANYTHING to play that for 30 seconds

  • I'm with you brother..

  • I was thinking the same thing except that's a replica, the best one I've seen at that!

  • Thanks bro..I actually saw several of these guitars at the Dallas Guitar Show. If you go to the web site at the top of the glass box in the vid, you'll find more info - if you are interested.

Thanks again for checking it out!

  • Would probably cost an arm and a leg just to touch it LOL. Stevie Ray...Never forgotten.

  • srv rip!
