Not really. They took their format - vocal, guitars, drums - from Buddy Holly and the Crickets, who were the big deal when the Beatles were still teenagers.

Yeah he had a soul then. He's been dead for years....he just don't know it yet! My God look at the man's face, he's got more lines, crevices, cracks etc than a drawing pad. I watched Ed Sullivan the night this was on. This was early Stones and they were good. The 60's was a great time to grow up in....great music and great cars and great girls. Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm!

There is science behind that steryotype(mind to hear some? lolol) People in islands tend to have bad teeth because they are used to eating more fish, which is soft than meat and stuff so their jaws were looser, making bad teeth. get Beatles at the BBC set....you'll learn as I did... The Beatles were the Rockers from Liverpool, Mick dad was college prof and you can see little Micky Jager on Brit TV on Mr Science...a show to teach kids science.. covered songs on the CD given to Stones to use for their run up.... rbecause image with Beatles established first by cleaning them up..Stones then were roughened up...leader Jones was all Blues so he was cool with it, Mick howeverm pushed goup to pop.

If you think the Beatles sang soft pop songs, you should look up Revolution and Helter Skelter. But the point is, both the Beatles and the Stones are damn good. Who cares which group is better? We're lucky enough to have them both.

@HamSandwich09 Why do people always seem to measure 60's groups after their heavy and loud songs? I personally think that Helter Skelter is a bad song, and that much of the point with the Beatles was their melodies and harmonies. Not the few songs where they fooled around with distorted guitars...

the stones may have fed loosely off the beatles in the 60s but they also took risks and ventured into themes the beatles did not. I love them both but generally prefer a stones song over beatles cuz I love grittier good time rock n roll
