There was a LOT of eyeball rolling when this came out--Eddie was still in his 800 lb.-gorilla-fame phase then and did stuff like this because he could--but he totally got the last laugh with his Oscar-worthy performance as soul shouter Jimmy "Thunder" Early in "Dreamgirls."

I like this song. lol. But what really piss me off Eddie open a lot door's, put hundreds of black artists to work that were otherwise in limbo and people forget that and disrepect this man so much. The black community has turned their backs on him. Before him only a few blacks could shine, main stream American films. Without being the damn fool of the film. I know I lived it.
