  • I see this video.

I quit. I'm going to go play guitar with nothing but power chords and make it big as a rockstar, damn it.

  • i want his skill and tone!

  • Please don't compare Alessi and Lindberg...They are two different types of trombonist...one is a orchestral musician, and one is a full-time soloist...They are very different in someways and you should not concentrate on comparing them but listen to how they interpret their sound and their style...learn FROM them, don't compare...please...

  • @gorgatronish air = %100 of brass playing. keep your mouth off of youtube and on the horn.

  • wow... i just love his tone... it's so bright and he NEVER sounds like the range is up high, HOW DOES HE DO THAT!!

  • @RockWontDie14 Keep the shape and use your air. Trombone is easy.

  • @Gorgatronish You're a moron, bro

  • @trombonebro Yeah, you're right! You are never supposed to use your air when you play trombone!

  • concerning the comment beneath me, i like alessi's playing much more than lindberg's. i don't really like lindberg's vibrato, it's too violent... i always melt away with alessi's tone, and i think from a technical point of view they're pretty much the same level!

  • @mortalfrog0815 I think it's interesting that you chose the word violent. I've never thought of it that way. It seems pretty subtle to me, actually. I won't deny that Alessi has great tone, but I think his style in general is a bit closer to being on the violent side if either are. Alessi plays it technically correct, and I notice that he plays both movements closer to the written tempos. However, I think what I like in Lindberg's version is that he takes the time to really play everything.

  • @drgnfrddd well i'm not originally English speaking, so maybe i didn't even mean violent. however, i wasn't especially talking about lindberg's casterede... i meant his tone in general. and nobody can deny that lindberg is about the greatest trombone soloist today. but i think that playing in an orchestra also makes you a better musician. another example is ian bousfield who plays with the wiener philharmoniker. maybe listen to his frank martin ballade so you see what i mean!

  • @mortalfrog0815 Wow. Thanks for pointing him out to me. I'd never heard of him before, but he has very good tone in all of his range, and it's a very cool piece.

I didn't mean to say that you used the wrong word. I just meant that had not come to mind for me.

Also, I'm a firm believer in the idea that someone just as good in one thing as someone else is in another thing, but that doesn't mean that one is definitely better than the other.

  • @drgnfrddd i absolutely agree. it just depends on what the listener likes better. as an orchestral player i just like the orchestral style, which doesn't include much brass-vibrato, at least here in Austria.

  • @mortalfrog0815 Yeah, it's all about preference. In America a vibrato is not really used much in orchestras either, unless it's a solo. I'm not sure about how that works. I guess that I have been working on my own so much that I have not gotten so into orchestras, but I think that if were in them more, I would probably like them. Right now I'm playing in a symphonic band.

  • @drgnfrddd also in european orchestras, they too keep solid tones

  • Compared to Lindberg, his style is much heavier in a lot of ways. And yet he generally plays faster. To be honest, I'm not sure I like it as much. Sometimes it seems like he's just rushing through everything to get through it. That's not to say he isn't expressive. I suppose he's just expressive in a more technical way than Liindberg. It very interesting to listen to this, since I'm so accustomed to the Lindberg version.

  • Bravo Alessi!!!

  • Great playing as usual. When/where was this? Do you have the third movement?
