  • Awww He looks very happy though! Amazing how adaptable dogs are. I just recently said goodbye to my 10 year old boxer who had Hypertrophic-osteodystrophy, A mouth full I know lol, Basically the joints in his front left leg, elbow and wrist were fused together via a disease (We nearly lost him at 6 months) and he walked with a permanent limp from then on. He was beautifully natured though and always full of beans! I pick up my rottweiler pup in 3 weeks time, Can't wait!! Beautiful dogs.

  • Thanks for getting back to me :) much appreciated.

My dogs just started one morning, no build up to it, one day he was ok and able to exercise the next he was limping and unable to exercise, going back to the vets on thursday as he wants to send us to a specialist, like i've got specialist's money lol!

Oh well i will see how it goes, and i'm so happy yours is getting on ok :)

    Thanks again.

  • Hi we have a Dogue de bordeaux that is limping (front left)

However it looks different to your dogs limp, its kind of a normal limp as though it had stood on something and it had a sore paw or has maybe shoulder.

Is this a standard way that a dog with elbow dysplasia displays symptoms?

    Thanks

    Lee.

  • @MrLeerevill Hi Lee, What we first noticed was that at about 5mths old, he would get tired very quickly, always willing to play but would take evry opportunity to sit down (suppose to ease pain in his elbows). The other very noticable things were that when he walked, it looked like he was almost 'reaching' out with each front paw at each step

  • @MrLeerevill , then secondly he started to 'flip/flick' his front paws as he walks (this is stil present post surgery to both elbows and is expected to stay). Hope this helps, best wishes with your pup

    Jesse
