this man is amazing he just did this piece at my play last week during intermission. unfortunately i couldn't see him because i was too busy behind the curtain getting ready for the next scene... maybe i'll do a spoken word piece on missed opportunities lol
as an advocate for the anti bullying campaign, I have to say ,of all the videos I have seen thus far, THIS is the one that i feel strongly about! I loved the delivery of each word and you can't help but be locked into the words and feeling of the poem you are speaking. I am glad to see such an amazing message performed this way! Keep up the good work..now i am off to post this to Twitter and Facebook!
because everybody is sellin' out and givin' up on art these days and people who really don't have anything at all to say get the " fortune and fame" while you take your time to reply to me on youtube..and that's just...pfff makes me wanna kill some fake artists :))))
and though I really enjoy talkin' to you, I hope some day you'll get so big that you won't have the time to reply on youtube 'cause you will be busy touring all over the world and doing your thing and stuff , and even though you sometimes probably righteously feel like you don't get the recognition you deserve for your work some people really feel you and I hope for those if you ever make it big you'll keep beeing true ...
now as you can obviously see..every experience as a kid can leave a mark on you for the rest of your life , and I'm not sayin' it's the right way the way i see things , but then again ..i would definetely don't want it to be the other way around to be grown like i am now and be a pussy...'cause somebody always had my back , my oppinion is..to a point , i would teach him to deal with it on his own, to a point
@LamontCarey1 or at least that's what i'm sayin' now 'cause i don't have a child..:) anyways still a great poem and you have a gift...I really feel you and when you speak like you were that kid, I really felt for "the kid"..:) you put so much soul when you speak it goes traight to another soul, that's art, that's a gift..never let it go away...and thanks for all the replies it shows that you care for who listens to your work...tons of respect
so i went to his pop and told him , he laughed on my face and told me to deal with it..so I did I beat the shit out of that kid, now he is 24 like me , 20 cm taller then i am , he still fears me like shit
@coltz50 I know it feels good to have turned the tables. Now you know exactly how that guy felt because u have been on both ends of it. It didn't feel good when u were scared of him. So, where do you go from here with him? Do you squash the feud or do you allow him to fear you to his grave? If you allow him to fear you, what are the real rewards for you? You're not that child any more. You're a grown and mature man. Squash that beef, Man!
@LamontCarey1 well..it's not like i'm bullyin' him now, come on...but if i give him a look he turns his eye the other way , right away, and yes I like that, now if when we were kids i would have had the right atitude and gave him a lesson back then ,it would probably had effect , now it's to late, he grew up just the way it was as a kid, that kind of person that i like to fear me and avoid me ..and if you think i'm not mature ..you should see him:)))))
@coltz50 OOOOOh, no, I am not saying that you aren't mature. I was saying that you are a grown and mature man now. I was pointing out that you are not that same little boy that was fearful until you built up the nerve to do what was being done to you.
and when I did , that kid, told the teacher , and I got embarassed in front of that class and stuff like it was my fault, so I waited till the end of the year and beat the shit out of that kid...that's snitchin:)) i know we talkin' 8 years old kids, but that's snitchin' :))))) some other time i beat up a kid he called his father his father told me to talk to him when we have problems, one day i came from the store with some mineral water bottles, he kicked me i drop'em they broke..
because a lot of the kids who never get the chance to stand up grow that way ..and I would like my son to be a man..but ...to a point of course if it would get ugly , I'd be right there, and I know if it go wrong I'd probably never forgive myself...but we are talking about kids..about street life , I have a brother that's younger then me and homies that ask for my help , whenever something goes down , I just beat everybody and ask the questions when I'm done whooping asses.
@coltz50 LOL. See, I have done all of that. Now I know I can think my way through a situation without resorting 2 violence but it was a learning process. u can't just beat every1 down and promote that becaz that's all that will happen. We have 2 teach our kids and some adults how 2 settle disputes with words and not always using violence as the first option. C, every time they call on u to jump on some1 n u do it, u create additional beefs. Sooner or later u will b the target, shot, jail, etc.
@coltz50 Neva wishing that on u, but those are the results. Life is about choices. Each choice has it own consequences. I made a lot of choses that you have and they have put me in some horrible places. Now I use my mind to handle everything and I haven't had to use my hands since. I want my child our children to benefit from those learned lessons and not the experiences.
It's a tricky question..probably i'm not mature enough to give the right answer, I don't have a child and don't plan to have one, but If i would, and it would be a boy, i really don't know, I know those kids who always call theyr momma..and me , growin' up whitout a father and had to deal with everything by myself, I kinda respect people who handle theyr problems..Of course i would like to know..but to a point I'd probably just teach him how to put his fitsts up...
@coltz50 I think we all want our children to stand up to folks. Parents want to know that their children will do just fine in that department. However, there will come a time when they will tell someone about being picked on. What I wanted u to understand about this is that snitchin' is defined by the streets as telling the cops, testifying, etc. When a kid or one of your boys come to you and tell you that someone is picking on them, do you define that as snitchin'?
@LamontCarey1 definetely not! me, now , no! I would try to bring them kids togheter and reason with them ..and get to see the situation , and talk , and try to get them to be friends .etc..but me , when I was 8 years old, yes , probably yes, and i was in the situation that the bully would pick on me , i would come back home and tell to my momma, my momma talked with his mother , and she just said "they'r kids, they'll sorted it out" so momma said " whoop him" ....so I did
@coltz50 LOL. I get it. Now don't you want children to be able to go to their mom's just like you did and not feel that is snitchin'? Every situation is not going to be a remake of your total experience. There are many parents when approached about their children being a bullying, will check their kid and not dismiss it like the woman u mentioned it. Give our kids the same options you exercised.
don't really agree with you Lamont ...tellin'...hmm i know we talkin' about kids mostly but that's still kinda snitchin'....we all know how ugly that shit can go...I say the best thing to do is stand up ...that's what I did once, twice ..untill they feared me enough to regret they behaviour and bowed they heads , but anyways ..i ain't gonna judge nobody and whatever works to bring peace i guess is ok, i hope this does for somebody what "pharcyde - runnin' " did for me , peace
@coltz50 I completely understand and respect your position. I was raised under those Laws Of The STREET. I wrote and directed a tv series pilot by the same name and principles. However, I have a son and if someone is putting the fear of them into him, I want him to tell me. I want your child to tell me. I am not talking about folks who are living the street life. This piece is for kids in schools. Do you want your child to handle the situation the same way you did?
@coltz50 I want our kids to have a better upbringing than I have. If my kid is hurt, I want him 2 be able to come 2 you. You and I r cool, so I hope u would address the issue. Again, this is about bullyN and not livin the life of street dudes. Does this make sense? I can respect if u still see it the same way as u did. Again, I want my son 2 tell me, u, a friend, or a teacher if some1 is bullying him. What I don't want is him losing his life or takin someone else's when we could have handled it.
