  • Lok Kruu Cheymongkol is Khmer Sisaket; Sisaket is a province in present-day Thailand, Preah Vihear is close to its southern boundary.

Khmer Krai Leng is a good program. I think thousands and thousands of people want to see your program. But thousands of them don't know where to get your video, except those who can see your programs from YOUTUBE.

Thanks so very much, Khmer Krai Leng.

  • Great work for Frank to show to the world our Khmer brothers from Surin that they fight to preserve their culture. I'm a Khmer living in Canada and I've never stopped to learn to read/write/understand our language. :) The khmer heritage and culture is part of my soul,my identity and my spirit. Nobody can't touch it, it always has a big place in my heart forever in the eternity.

  • Sook Sabai ajon frank

  • thanks for sharing.....

  • Hi PreahKo, the teacher said that 30-40 years ago, the khmer languages/written was banded from being taught in schools in surin, buriram provinces and a couple other provinces where khmer people are concentrated in thailand. Why was it banned? When was it again allow for people to learn khmer? Isn't the same thing happening in vietnam right now to khmer krom people?

  • It's part of the Thai government's "nation-building" project: they try to minimize their ethnic minority citizens which share a culture with border nations (Khmers, Laos) from establishing too strong of a solidarity with their sisters and brothers across the borders. However, the way Surin Khmers are treated by the Thais is nothing compared with the oppression of Khmae Kraom by the Vietnamese.

  • Great! you have done great job in teaching Khmer language. thanks for your great devotion! I am khmer krom (sourthen Vietnam) I understand your feeling! I can read and write in Khmer language well. I am now in Bangkok.

  • Thank You for sharing this video. I do love this program keep KHMER live forever. Thank You and Thank You:)

PS: I think you speak khmer much better than I do:(

  • Please change your worry into deed. Worry doesn't help anything. it's time for action. We are like 3 brothers; Khmer Krom, Khmer Kandal and Khmer Surin.

Now, I don't have money to pay for rental for six months already. But, believe me even I am expelled from here but I swear that I won't give up.

I can die and we all die soemday but our Khmer culture can't.

    Chhey Mongkol

  • i don't have the time going to you. you can check out my space i have upload many my songs

  • I don't think there will be more Khmer ethnic people interested in learning how to write Khmer in Khmer although the school is free. They more likely think about their family situation than their root. Correct me if I am wrong. Yes, at least, Khmer have do something, better than nothing.

  • Dear Ksem,

I well I have no objection with your comment at all. Like you've said that it is better than do nothing.

Many people may think it is useless, but for me it is the duty. And that makes the differences between Mr. Ksem and me.

  • Many of Khmer Surin I have known for city people they hardly think they are Khmer but for rural folks they always speak Khmer with me. I have tried to register the school with Thai authority but the application must go to Bangkok. That doesn't make sense. Why Chinese, Korean language school sprung up like mushrooms? Even Vietnamese language.

  • Hi, I am Chhey Mongkol

    Chhum reap sour, Khmer brotherhood.

Thank you, Frank for your help. I do appreciate that. I just want to tell the viewers of this video that, just like Frank says that Surin is an integral part of Angkor. I remember that its history dates back to 6th century where we have Phum Pon.

  • Excellent! finally Khmer Language come to life in Surin.

I wondering how many percent of Khmer Surin (young

generation) know how read and write Khmer Language?

    Thanks so much Mr. Frank.

  • It's a very, very small percent...that's what's so great and remarkable about Cheymongkol's school, it means that at least some young people will start learning. Right now not even that many older Surin Khmers can read and write Khmer.

  • pss I think its fate that I found your videos. lol.

  • So I just discovered your videos a few hours ago and absolutely love them. Then I discovered that you taught at UW Madison where I go. I think I might be really interested in taking your class. I've always wanted to learn to read and write!

PS you're really good at speaking khmer.

  • thanks for sharing the video about khmer . I know some people speak khmer . Is that true 40% speak khmer in Surin , and 60% speak khmer in Sisaket ?

  • it's more like 70% in Surin, 40% in Buriram, 20% in Sisaket

  • Yaaaaayyy!!!!

  • Thanks Frank for your love of Khmer language and thanks for showing Khmer Surin. I always feel for Khmer Surin because they are Khmer they no access to Khmer written language. Please post his email or phone # so that I can contact him.

  • Thank you Extreme Khmer. Thank you Lok Chey-Mungkul for teaching Khmer (written) in Surin. I support that.

  • I need to clarify something: I should have checked out the link to Chaimongkol's website before I put it in the video; it's all in Thai! He's working on an English version. In the meantime, if you want to contact him, his e-mail is khmersurinATgmailDOTcom

  • Very good! I support that!

    Thank you.

  • ah... I missed your show. thanks!

  • Great ! such a pleasure !

  • i like a lot !!! sanook
