anyone else remember the album he still swears dosn't exist? he called himself "johnny cougar", no mellencamp to it. short greased back hair, jacket collar turned up, ala james dean, lookin' all pretty boy? claims he never went to l.a. till years later, 'cuz "he's from a small town". also later on, saw him on t.v. (dick cavett or something) with sly stone. too funny! sly talking at16rpm, johnny talking at 78rpm, the poor host in the middle (at 33rpm), trying to act like everything is normal.

I just wish there were some videos of his "Johnny Cougar" days! When he was in his glitter stage! Eyes all painted up with that "rebel rebel" look! No one was a better David Bowie copy than Johnny Cougar! He was on Bowie's label too! I also think it's really sad that none of the other great songwriters in rock and roll give him any credit.
