OMG. It's a wonder anyone can propagate a violet with stupid advice like this being broadcast to the masses.
@ingiequeen - because she knows NOTHING about growing or propagating African violets!

NEVER dip a leaf or stem into the hormone bottle! You could be transferring disease or fungus into the bottle. This would infect all future cuttings. Poor some onto a napkin instead and roll the cutting in that.

Why didnt she just propagate them straight into soil?
Also, i would have cut the stem a little shorter and on a 45 degree angle to promote seedlings, although it is a good idea to use the hormone.
