@simonty : Bednar [ 9 ], had no contact with the ball, he need 2 have touched the ball 2 been offside, the goal was awarded 2 Beattie who crossed the ball

To be offside you need to be interfering in play. If Bednar wasn't there and hadn't made a play for the ball, Warrington would not have been wrong footed and would have made a relatively easy save. If you make a feint for the ball I can't see how that's not interfering.
