wow! And remember, a generation of kids as young as my own are touring with Jim and Vhris and REALLY kickin it! this music has stood the test of time surely.
Too much fun. A magic moment indeed. Gives new meaning to the term classic rock. It was great to see you in Baltimore a few weeks ago. Come back to the colonies soon.
It's occurred to me that it could've been this little promotional film that inspired he and Jim M. to form "Renniasance" (sp?) later on. I don't know, could it have? Keith is dressed like a court troubadour of that era, after all!
After watching movies recently of "Taming Of The Shrew" 1967 version, and the various films about Henry the Eighth, old form of "Romeo and Juliet" (1968), the court-musicians did dress like that!
Funny... I made a joke about that in the "edited promo clip"!... ;-)
But in truth, I don't think so!... I believe the idea for the "plot" of this promo clip might have been Giorgio Gomelsky's... Whereas, the meaning behind the 'Renaissance' name of the band may have more to do with the idea of rebirth, new beginning sort of thing... considering that Keith and Jim had enough of the Yardbirds at the time, and wanted to take up a new direction altogether!... ;-)
Well this is true, too! I am a student of history, and it fascinates me! One of my favorite periods to study was the Renaissance. I loved learning about the clothes, music, lifestyles, manners-mores, important people, etc...
It seemed to me that your definition of the word was the one I learned also! After the so-called 'Dark Ages', people were wanting something new and bright! In this video, (which was hilarious, I must say!)it looks like each guy is dressed like a court poet, or knight..
or traveling musician, etc.. each about 100 years apart. All the guys are cute and funny; but the funniest one is Paul Samwell-Smith! He's really a hoot! That's the funniest I'd ever seen him! He was up there making the most droll faces! Striking poses that made him look like a choir director!
He usually looks so seriously intent on his performance. He reminds me of Mike Nesmith of "The Monkees". They both look serious, but every once in awhile, they really "let down their hair", it's so cute!
I have been missing this clip ever since the other one I was watching got pulled down. Thank you for bringing it back, and in better condition too. It's a joy to watch, over and over. Paul sure looks like he's having a good time, too! A history buff, perhaps?
thanks for the info, where do you come with these nuggets ? those buton rouge french tv clips, have they been altered they look great with that golden amber look. i've already ordered jim's new cd with russ,he's going to get it signed by him.
Yes, the "Bouton Rouge" vids have been edited... Glad you like, it was inspired from the first pic( in golden tones) opening each clips ;-)
Good that you're already in the queue to get Jim's new album!... Knowing me, I'll be one of the last to get it... It took me 6 months before I ordered Jane's compilation cd after its release! ;-D
Beck looks like he'd rather be somewhere else,

No, this is the original promo clip (from a different source than the B&W version, obviously)!
I didn't do any video editing on this one apart from the audio... The edited promo clip is a private upload for now!... ;-)
