  • I just think The Watchtower Society takes advantage of a very innocent & some times naive people. It's like a college student scamming a 4th grader out of his lunch money & I don't like that.

  • I was disfellowhipped for 11 months and was just reinstated 2 months ago. I couldnt speak with my family, and was a tough time. But I agreed with the ruling, never contested it, and it totally worked for me.

Just an analogy, but are the best behaved children the ones who parents discipline them, or the ones whose parents let them get away with everything? Food for thought.

  • Those poor sweet kids....many trapped forever in this nonsense.

  • @999Atwood We're all trapped in some respect. We choose where we wish to be trapped.

  • @pjpix - Some truth to what you say. Many are trapped in bad marriages, bad jobs...RELIGIONS..alcohol or drugs. I guess I just think totalitarian religions like the JW's are the most evil trap because they mask themselves in a cloak of conditional love.

  • No JW is forced into anything. U can take my word for it becuz I'm one. My information is directly from the source, not wikipedia or youtube. i've been one since childhood. the whole time it was my own free choice. & we're normal people. we drink, have fun, hang out w/ friends. making judgments about people when u've never spoken to them isn't right. don't worry those "poor children" as u can see are smiling and happy. :) there is no trapping involved...because we can leave any time we want

  • I was one too, left after high school. So you can't BS me....

  • i didnt mean to 'BS' you in any way, I was just trying to say, if we are trapping people, then how did you leave?

  • I see you are just 15..as you get older & learn about life your views may change. Many are are trapped by the fear of losing their families through disfellowshipping. Many families in my old circle are torn apart simply because someone didn't believe. Many who DON'T believe will lie & pretend they do, just to keep the family connections..that is trapped if you are not a strong person like I am.

  • Those kids will grow up to be like many who were in my congregation in early 1980's. 1 suicide, a couple mentally ill, many depressed from living a double life. Also a suicide in another congregation near us. I have heard the Watchtower is easing up a little because they were losing too many members. You kids probably do get drunk off your ass now & get away with it.

  • @999Atwood suicide, mental illness, lying to your family and friends (for whatever reason or about different kinds of things) happens all around to all kinds of people no matter their faith or views, JW's experience the same kind of troubles as anyone anywhere.. it can be a little misleading to blame it all on religion.. JW are free to follow their conscience and are encouraged to question what they believe and find answers. my sister is not JW, rest of us are and she is fully part of our family

  • @LiLLiNooRaJ Well it's just that the JW's have an unusually high rate of mental illness compared to the general population. The illness in the general pop so often is caused by a belief system, Mormon, Pent, Catholic....I believe it is religion at the root of most mental illness. Lots of nice people trapped in these demonic institutions. If Satan exists, he is the one at the steering wheel of these organizations. I know & like many JW & a few Mormons....but talking to one makes my eyes roll.

  • @999Atwood and this argument you base on what study conducted by who, where and when?

  • @LiLLiNooRaJ There are several studies, One would be Havor Montague - "Case Study Of Jehovah's Witnesses". Most of the studies use hospital statistics, mental ward visits. Religious people in general are more prone to mental health problems & Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Catholics have the high rates.

  • @999Atwood impressive.. how would this study differentiate between someone having higher risk of mental illness ('cause tendensy for these illnesses run in family) for having been brought up in a JW family and therefore becoming ill or someone after becoming a JW suddenly catching schizoprenia w/out any previous medical history or family history? as a medical professional i know there are more things involved than just religion, it's not that straight forward: join a group, get the illness..

  • @LiLLiNooRaJ I think the studies admitted they didn't know if the religion caused more illness or if previously ill people were drawn to the religion. My own experience & what I saw was that the religion caused the illness. I am no doctor but I am pretty observant.

  • @999Atwood i believe what was taught to me during my medical education about mental illnesses; a belief system cannot in it self cause such illnesses. you very well maybe observant but medical facts do not back your opinion as you yourself admitted. and lets not forget the thousands of people who have no one to take care of them and fall off the grid due to untreated mental illnesses. they could profoundly change the statistics about patients on psych ward and their religious background..

  • @LiLLiNooRaJ Maybe, I don't know, I think 2 suicides & several seriously mentally ill people in the small circle of JW's I knew is pretty high. Our congregation & the neighboring one probably only numbered 100-120 people total. This does not include several couples who are retiring broke because they were lead to believe the end would surely be here by now. That must also carry some serious worry & depression, not being treated. Bet I could name 12 out of the 100 needing professional help.

  • @LiLLiNooRaJ Also I don't think it's accurate to say the medical facts do not back up my statement. The medical facts are that the illness rates ARE higher amoung these groups JW's/Mormons but they can only speculate why.....and I personally have an educated speculation as to why from my time on the inside.

  • @999Atwood as someone on the inside i respectfully disagree on all accounts. the stats still do not say that religion causes illness. as concerned christians who care about our brothers and sisters needed measures are taken so that no one is without the basics needed, may it be food, shelter, clothing or professional medical attention.

  • @LiLLiNooRaJ I will give you the fact that JW' MEMBERS take care of their own very well but it ONLY COMES from the publishers pockets in the Kingdom Hall. No money flows OUT of the Watchtower Society it'self. The Watchtower Society loans money at interest, it does not give to charity. Very sad to see my former friends being milked like this. They pay up front for the magazines (Cha-Ching), They give direct donations (Cha-Ching) Then give money to help their brothers/Sisters on top of it all.

  • @999Atwood humanitarian aid is given where it is needed. for example; haiti last year; homes build for those who lost everything when katrina destroyed new orleans..not just JW's helped, others too. i could go on. to be perfectly honest, this discussion is going nowhere. you are determined to think ill of JW's and spread your opinions around, that's your right, go ahead. who ever wants to know how things really are should take a good look around, on both sides, and then decide for themselves.

  • @LiLLiNooRaJ Yes, We won't change each others mind. I think the society is 100% a money making machine that profits off the weak & naive. I grew up in a family of drunks & molesters, an environment that makes you street wise very young. I think the JW's are too trusting & refuse to look below the Watchtowers phoney exterior. Maybe some people just need someone to have someone make lifes decisions for them...tell them what to do?

  • I loved the video. much agape.

  • Why it's lame

  • Thank you for your opinion.
