For me what I gain from this song is to not to fall in love with the world, (Or more spasmodically guys), but to just fall in love with Jesus, why in the world would you daydream about some boy who I will not even remember in a few years time when I could be daydreaming about meeting the best guy that ever lived!
I find myself listening to this song every single day. It's Christ's love song to me...you don't know what a gift you've given...you could have used your talents for worldly gain but you chose instead to let God use them just to bless me...we will never meet but Jason, you will always have my gratitude.
This song brought me to a screeching halt, because no song has ever spoke my heart so clearly and succinctly as did this one. I've been sitting here weeping for the last 10 minutes with the awesome revelation that I have, after all these years, fallen in love with Jesus, and it has transformed me like nothing I've ever experienced. I have literally been reborn on every level. I never knew it could be like this.
@luvmisailor I totally agree. I never knew this is how the relationship is supposed to be. But some strange things happened recently and it's like God was calling me to him. I wasn't raised in a family that was religious or went to church but something happened to me, I can't even explain it. I actually wanted to go to church of my own free will, and like I said, felt like I was being told to go. It's so crazy but amazing.

When you truly invite Jesus into your heart out of pure love, not fear, he touches you with the holy spirit. It's so intense, beautiful and pure. Suddenly, you never want to cross the lines again or break the rules. You want to please him because you are in love with him, not afraid of him. He want our love towards him and our fellow man. That is what this song is about AND how I came back to Jesus.
But the time is coming and is already here when true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. The Father is looking for anyone who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
@the8track I had that problem with this song at first as well, but I think what he means, or how I take it anyway, is that when you fall in love you are more committed than simply saying you're Christian. I also don't think he is saying at the beginning that because he is saved he can cross lines and that he wants to intentionally break rules, but instead that because of the love in Christ, he can fail and still be loved. Christianity is repenting and change, but both of those come from love.
It IS more like something to believe in. Feelings are great but eternal security isn't based on my warm fuzzies. It's based on grace & faith and REPENTANCE.
Your repentance is vital. If you start intentionally breaking rules & crossing lines, you can't say that you've repented.
You can call that "religious" but God doesn't care, He calls it "holiness". He's coming for a pure bride.

You can't just "believe" in Jesus, you need to really beleieve, and to do that you need to trust and love him. He isn't saying he is going to start intentionally breaking rules and crossing lines, he is saying that he knows when he stumbles he can get back up because God is with him.

Salvation is a life changing event because of the relationship God calls us to, not simply because our sin is paid for. Remember, sin separated man from God because on the day sin entered the world man did, God's Spirit would not indwell corrupt flesh. No only did we need perfect "forgiveness" we needed "LIFE" That is what God calls us to is a life with Him.

Delfinna you said exactly what I wanted to express. I often feel overwhelmed and inadequete as a christian and child of such a holy and loving God. I love this song because it's so honest and true. i've been a Christian -or trying to be a Christian-or failing at being a Christian- for about 35 years. this song sums up my experience better than anything i've heard. after much time beating my head against my many inadaquacies, i'm convinced the only way it can be done is to fall head over heels in love with Jesus Christ. Like you said you're life isn't yours to end, so surrender it to God's hand. Whatever thought is driving you to think of ending your end life is NOT God's doing because God isn't the source of temptation, that's the devil. Keep in mind that something has to died in order for something else to begin.

I totally agree with the message of this song. Being in love with Jesus is not the same as just following him. Being in love with him makes you want to follow him without feeling obligated to whereas following him because others do doesn't really make you committed to his purpose or a true relationship with him. Religion really doesn't set you free, but a true love for God does. Thank you for this song Jason. You're one of my favorites.

Ok yes I would agree that many people forget about what life is truly about but if u listen to what he says... "... All religion ever made me was a sinner with a stone tied to my feet..." that is definatly NOT wat religion is about. He is saying that the only thing the church did was hold him back so he doesn't need anyone but himself and god and that isn't what god wanted from his church.

Religion can stifle people because it can seem like it's all about following a set of rules. That's why a relationship with Jesus Christ is so important. There is definitely a need for church. We must go to church to fellowship with one another, and glorify the Lord as the body of Christ. We can do so much more together than we ever could alone.

....................a reason and he wouldnt have started the church if he wanted it to just be us individually having a relationship with him. im not saying that its bad to have a strong personal relationship with him but if u want to experience his full love and grace it is important to experience this love with your church.

@cwg333 I think the point of all the people saying that it isn't about religion and church, but God, is that we're human, and we manage to make politics out of everything. Even church. A LOT of people get lost int it, just like many get lost in the every day and forget what life is all about. They forget about the one on one relationship with God....

@cwg333 ...I personally don't believe you have to go to church to be close to God, but I love watching people worship. It's moving. But I think that life was also meant to be lived together, and that you need interaction with other believers and to surround yourself with good energy. :)

im very sorry for all of you who feel that way about religion. you should know that the root meaning of religion means relationship. if god didnt want us to have relationships and interactions with a church he could have put us on our own separate planet and we wouldnt have to talk to anyone ever... but he didnt, he put us here with others for .........

I think what he was saying that just sitting in a church and going through the motions and saying he belived in something didnt work. He had to fall in love with jesus to get anything. He still goes to church im sure. Just now he has more than church...and more than a set of rules to follow. He has jesus

this song is exactly what happened to me. I was over religion and there was no room for him in my life till an act of kindness i knew came from nowhere but Him woke me up and ive been in love ever since and completely different person! Im "caught up called out, come take a look at me now"

I'm a Christian. But grew up not knowing anything about the Lord. I am absolutely ashamed of myself. But my friend has been taking me to her church(well, I'm a member there too but something was stopping me from going. I will start going from now on though). The first time I was there, I met their youth group. I felt like I was being changed. I felt as if I was falling in love, for reals! I really love the Lord and Jesus Christ. <3

@rxygirl1206 I don't believe God hates anyone. You might be finding life really hard right now, but i assure you that God is always you and He wouldn't give you more than you can bear. Like you said you're life isn't yours to end, so surrender it to God's hand. Whatever thought is driving you to think of ending your end life is NOT God's doing because God isn't the source of temptation, that's the devil. Keep in mind that something has to died in order for something else to begin.

I love this song! I turn up the radio every time I hear it play. God's grace really is amazing. I grew up in church then i fell away in my teen years. God has brought me back to his love. Now that I'm a little wiser (thanks to God) I'm building a relationship with him. Understanding and insight have been placed into my heart. I can really relate to the lyrics in this song. Praise God!

I totally agree with the message of this song. Being in love with Jesus is not the same as just following him. Being in love with him makes you want to follow him without feeling obligated to whereas following him because others do doesn't really make you committed to his purpose or a true relationship with him. Religion really doesn't set you free, but a true love for God does. Thank you for this song Jason. You're one of my favorites.
