The Pope is not Jesus. The Pope did not die for our sins. The Pope is not God. The Pope is simply, SIMPLY, a man of God. He is nothing more than that. I am protestant, and I do not like how he is the symbol of Catholicism. God, or Jesus, or the Crucifix should be the symbol of Catholicism, NOT THE POPE. Many Catholics give him more attention than they do to God. It is sometimes a little too much.
The Pope is a man, who loves God. He is a man OF God...not God himself.

Catholics respect the Pope because he represents what they would like to be- Men who follow the word of God. They don't love him more than, or even equal to God, they just respect him. The Pope is not a symbol of Catholicism, he is the spokesperson.

Massive Lemon, I understand the respect people have for him. I even have respect for the Pope, but I just don't agree with how some Catholics (not all) seem to feel honored to be in his presence when in fact, being in God's presence is an honor in itself. I am fascinated by the Catholic church and have always considered converting, but I just don't agree with how some things are, such as the whole idea of how people think about the Pope.

There were a group of people in Nazi Germany who refused to serve Hitler, and they were thrown into the concentration camps for their refusal to support him. They listened to God---through reading & applying the bible. See the video "Purple Triangles". It was produced by the BBC.
