I use it via a midi to usb dongle between my laptop and my roland TD9-KX as a sample library because the actual samples are better than the ones in the drum brain.

Thomas Hakke from meshuggah used this (created actually) to do programming on lots of meshuggah albums and he's an insanely accomplished and technically amazing drummer. Far better than you.

That's because The JJ Sig Set is from the export series. It's an entry level kit. It does not have the same quality as say the Pearl Reference series. That's what I hate about Artist kits. They aren't even what the artist plays. Go to Pearl's site, and look at the kit Joey is using. The Reference series. You would be lucky to get one Reference 22"x18" kick drum for under $1300.
