Hey my laptop has the same exact problem the little black piece is missing the lead to make contact with the wire I don't know where I can buy a whole new plug that goes into the pins or where I can buy the little black piece please let me know I want to get my laptop working
@taitburns if you have one similar to this, then there is a plastic bezel right above the keyboard, it is covering the screws that hold th keyboard down, pry the bezel off (use a flathead screwdriver) and unscrew the screws to the keyboard, take the keyboard off (make note of where the plug in ribbon goes)once the keyboard is off it will reveal the fan PCI card, and some other thing and some more screws, take those out and the ones on the bottom and you can take the top off.
the front part that you took off excluding the Keyboard what is that called? i would like to replace mine because it is scratched any idea where i can get one.
@Texasoutback Patching a DC jack is a temporary repair. It's designed to get your computer up and running to get any files off of it if you have not yet backed up any information as the problem will persist. The only cure is a new system board, or a new machine replacement.
It will be completely separated or your power cord is melted near the jack (solder point loosening), stick a pen or a screw driver in your jack (while turned off) and VERY lightly move the jack around in a circular motion, if it has wiggle room, then it is most likely a broken DC jack.
i have a question - i took apart the mine ( the very same) but now my WiFi switch doesn't work and i made sure i put everything in place as it was. What could have i done wrong
Ew. Its running Vista. Upgrade that thing to windows 7!
Actually I have that same model but mine is a s5940, but the headphone jack is messed up. There is someone on ebay selling a slightly different model, but it is in the same L305 family, but it has a broken screen and an intergrated webcam. How interchangeable are the parts?
hey! im trying to locate the cpu for this laptop. do you know where it is? and what socket it is?

That's completely not helpful. How did you get the top off? Stupid plastic piece of crap.

How do you know if the dc jack is broken as opposed to it being a problem with the power supply?
