i agree with you, but if you could see it in another perspective too. and that is: underground rap actually have better beats too. it pulsivate the real hip hop feeling. look at jedi mind tricks. their beats are way better then any commercial artist. and their lyrics are real. sage francis got the real beats to his ryhms. it just melts together. love and support to the underground! :)

ture, like atmosphere, brother ali, immortal technique and as you said JMT you notice that their beats are actual instruments and not drum beat after drum beat with repetative bass. just more to define underground hip-hop as "real music" but i aslo admire the turntablism with mcs' such and eyedea and abilities and prolyphic and reanimator. though i dont care for sages beats like i do slugs i admire his lyrics. all in all the lyrics is really what makes me adore underground hip-hop.
