So Mr. Gregory have you ever gotten lost and ended up in a black neighborhood and wound up getting shot because you were white? Racism works BOTH ways! It is time for BOTH whites and blacks to stop the bullshit. Not just whites but blacks also.
wow this funny but so true, what a older smart well read man,i cant believe he is in his 70's i wish i can have his energy, and wit. mr brother greogory you are a wonderful, we need dick for president. god bless
Yo, all you ignorant people better look up "food deserts", "environmental justice", "crack epidemic & CIA", "gentrification", "number of blacks in jail", "FBI and Black Panthers". God it would be a miracle if we could get someone like him into some kind of gov position.....
I have similar prejudice coz of the way I look but im not in America and i'm not black. I just choose to look like a metal head. I can always just change the way I look though. Often I feel like pretending to shoplift when security follow me around or scaring women that hold their purse tight as I pass even though I am one of the kindest people you would meet. I can see why people turn bad if they are told they are bad often enough
Its funny when I meet black kids who work hard go to collage and have jobs. There never mad bitter or angry at anyone else s' skin color or crying racism, there eyes are on the future. I think in any race when a person is not successful one of the things they use is racism an outlet for anger.
Basically, Dick Gregory is saying that Black people are stupid. They liked Bill Clinton more than Barack because Barack wasn't black ENOUGH.... which suggests they're racist, too. Then he says they walk around with an angry face. And they go and clap for him as if clapping for that means THEY arent the ones to whom he refers. Where's the love, baybeee? Where's the loooove?!!?/
@SamFreedom Basically he mocks the self-contradiction in the very (if "brotherly") raciallism black [and other] folk unwittingly self-contradictingly accept. Your statement implies hypocracy on said speakers part if his It is i to whom he refers simply because of my color.
But yeah that whole clapping with coerced enthusiasm thing irritated me too for some reason.
@27Morpheus hi morpheus, thanks for your decent response. I think we're going to see a lot of confusion and hypocrisy in the black community for a long time because, generationally speaking, they've not been free as long as the non-blacks that live here, or the immigrants who immigrated here. Many blacks are still suffering from victim/slave mentality & it bothers me to no end that theyve been turned into "handout addicts" by the Dem party. Not saying they didnt need some help but not like this
@SamFreedom Here's the thing though; and this is an important piece of the pie to remember. When you see this type of thing, its about progressing America into a situation where black folks are saw as equal as white folks. Which realistically isn't so when you consider things like standard of beauty, media representation etc. Also, When you see for instance a ' white power' rally they spread hate and superiority, something you'll never see at what D. Gregory speaks at. Its acknowledgment.
I want you to think of something. Ever wonder why people consider a woman like Beyonce or Halle Berry etc to be more beautiful than say..Grace Jones? Because the standard of beauty is leaned towards european features. The more european your features the more accepted you are to the general public.
As dumb as it is, I was watching XMen the other night and heard something that yanked at me.Nightcrawler asks Mystique why she doesnt just change into a human all the time so she can fit in. She looks at him and rebuts, "..Because I shouldnt have to". I understand sometimes black folks might come off contradictory, and even detrimental in feeding a victim mentality by saying WE should do this and WE WE WE but I suppose its better than sweeping the dirt under the rug and never cleaning
Seriously. I think the Bill Clinton bit is spot on. Because I'm white there are certain experiences I will never have. I understand the kinds of things he's talking about on an empathetic level - not a first-hand level. I am capable of feeling the anguish, but I never had the experience that produced the anguish.
I really wish guys like Dick Gregory got more air time. We should be seeing HIM on television. Not Tim the toolman Taylor. Or Wolfe Blitzer.
Dick is turning it out in this clip!

Well said Dick Gregory! You now need to go and lay it on the line to James Manning, the self proclaimed "Honorable" pastor.
