watched the movie and it was AMAZING! I absolutely LOVED it! I recomend watching it in theaters, it not only helps support 2-D animation but its also an awesome experiance. Seriously, I had the movie still buzzing around my head after it was over :D I loved it. BEst movie I've seen in theaters since Finding Nemo and best animated movie I've watched in theaters since I saw Mulan when I was 5
May I please suggest that a movie company makes the Bellgariad book series into movies! It is beyond Fenaminal and I would love it if you did! The author diedthis month this year so now is the persect time! Martin short would make an out standing silk!
"The Frog Princess" is what was first announced and the logo from back then matches that early title. It was later changed to "The Princess and the Frog."
I read a book with that title along the same storyline (as far as I can tell) about the girl turning into a frog instead of vice versa. It was cute. I do think it is a better title.
y couldnt they keep it the same as the original? i mean snow white was a servant and so was cinderella and most of the other disney princesses and no one gave a crap about that.... ://
We want hand drawn disney movies... but ones with substance. I'm not saying this is a bad idea.. but lately it seems you disney people are just literally THROWING out movies. We miss movies with deep meanings.
Now that we know how they prolonged the short and simple story *turning Tiana into a frog as well* it did make more sense to make the title "the Frog Princess", aw well, can't change it now
That was the original title, yes, changed after that meeting. You'll understand why they were calling her the frog princess after you see the movie... If I told you now it would be a huge spoiler.
jayriel just wrote here asking a question about what I wrote above... I won't answer and don't want his guess to appear because I don't want to spoil the movie's surprises for anyone!
They can't use New Orleans as a port call for a Disney Cruise Ship, unless they have family orientated places! And I'm pretty sure the Mardi Gra and much of New Orleans is not for kids! I was there (before Katrina) and much of that place was dirty and smoke filled! Only unless New Orleans took a basic turn around should it be considered at all!
And yea, the movie looks and sounds really great! I can't wait to see it!
You really need to take another look at New Orleans and not keep your impression based on your first visit. The city is a lot more than just Bourbon Street and there are plenty of places for the whole family in the French Quarter like beignets and pralines in the French Market, world-class restaurants, Aquarium of the Americas, Audubon Institute Insectarium, free ferry boat rides on the Mississippi River, Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World, streetcars to City Park and Audubon Park, Audubon Zoo...
steamboat paddlewheeler rides, Storybook Land and the nearby amusement park in City Park, and on and on! Currently and for the past few years even the streets and gutters of the French Quarter have been kept clean and odor-free -- just as good as Disney did when it held the world premEAR of Hunchback of Notre Dame in the Superdome with a French Quarter Mardi Gras-style parade beforehand! And just watch, I predict they'll also have the premEAR of The Princess and the Frog here, too, this December
I think it's stupid that they quit making hand drawn movies because of Home on the Range. But I'm glad that they are making the Princess and the frog. I hope that Rapunzel will be hand drawn too.
i'm so happy that this movie is coming out! i'm sure this movie is gonna be just fine, and it's gonna be SOOOOOOO much better than Enchanted! I was happy as hell when I found out it was 2D and not 3D! something about the 2D animation that makes me feel more appreciative of these movies... the quality, the hard word, the line work of dimensions in a paper is just amazing. no computer could top off the old style of art. Also, it's gonna help out New Orleans and put it back up on its feet. HORRAY!!
I hope this brings more animation jobs back to the U.S, I'm tired of hearing that all these good ideas are packaged and sent overseas, and taking away jobs from people who have studied and sacrificed so much in this field. I am an animation major and wish this is a stepforward towards a return to trad. animation. I hope cg doesn't die but, hope both mediums are kept where they belong, and that's here in the US.
Im so glad disney are going back to their roots with this beautiful hand drawn animation, already looking on the disney website the backgrounds look amazing and bring back that disney magic
I accidentally gave this comment a thumbs-down, but I totally meant to give it a thumbs-up! Actually, five thumbs up! Everyone should go see this movie, support 2-D! It makes me so happy that all the comments are pro-2-D. Just made my day.
I've been dyeing for Disney to make more 2D animated movies! I am so excited to see this movie, I'm going to see it 10 times when it comes out and make everyone I know see it too! lol :) I really hope they continue to make more wonderful 2D animated movies.
After Disney destroyed it's infrastructure by firing all its animators and dismantling its apprenticeship program, generally crippling traditional animation and declaring it "dead" during the reign of Eisner, they suddenly decide to just make a traditionally animated film again? I thought it was all run by executives now, just milking old stuff with video cheapquils and riding Pixar for every dime. I guess people have been fighting hard to revive the craft pioneered there. It looks beautiful.
I dunno, maybe if this movie does good they are planning on giving some of the proceeds to the familes that were affected by Katrina and are still trying to cope with the loss or devastation. Now that would be great.
Oh, but they already have been helping. Disney has helped with rebuilding homes through Habitat through Humanity and other similar programs and activities.
I hope this movie will be good like the classics, cause Disney movies began to suck since 1997 with the crappy Hercules (except The Emperor's New Groove and Finding Nemo).
Prince of Egypt wasn't Disney but Dreamworks, and it's about Moses not a Princess...

I'm willing to wait until the movie comes out and not pre-judge it about what character "should" or "should not" be. We'll have to wait and see if she was born a princess or somehow becomes one I guess.
I agree... I mean, I think it'd be cool if she started out as a chambermaid, but only because the truth that she was a princess was hidden from her or something. I dunno. I'm just excited their doing this, and I'm saving my judging for after I see it, like you. After all, Echanted certainly surprised me after I'd seen it, it's now one of my favorites.
the film is set in the 1920's. tiana is of that era. like the name Pearl. it sounds like an black woman from the 1920's and its pretty. or josephine, napoleans josephine was a princess and also of african ancestry. or marie, as in marie laveau.
im glad she is dark. i like the voodoo element.
but i TOTALLY understand black folks concern. disney and other animated portrayals of african americans hasnt been very kind (think song of the south and those old tom and jerry cartoons)
Have you seen "Song of the South"? I have and I disagree with your opinion about it. IMHO, the white people are the ones that don't look good in that movie, not the African-Americans.
As a black woman, i think we complain too much. Some Disney princesses were some form of maids. And the name thing is even more absurd. She's a girl from New Orleans. Madeliene(Maddy) is a beautiful French name. How is it stereotypically black lower class? Something like Laquisha is a black lower class name.
The only change i agree on is the title because Frog Princess was too much for the 1st black princess.
This movie might end up totally different from the fairy tale if there's nemore changes.
i know. I'm looking forward to this movie and I'm 13 and African American. i honestly dont see why theyre complaining so much. most of the disney princesses were maids, like snow white and cinderella
Thank you for sharing your opinion. I'm living in New Orleans and think it will be a fine movie set here. Besides, St. Louis doesn't have bayous and swamps where the frogs and alligator in the story are. And by having the movie set in New Orleans gives them jazz music (New Orleans is the birthplace of jazz), Dr. John, and Creole food. Dreams do come true in New Orleans!
I'm 16 now and I don't care how people say me that I'm stupid in Disney! I just love Disney! No want can stop me! And my ambition is an animator!!!!!Well, I just hope I can be an perfect animator....
Me three! Drawing is a hobby of mine, but after possibly journeying the route of freelance art and graphic design, I really would love to animate for disney 9especially since romours say they really ARE going back to 2-D, even after this.) This looks to be very good.
I sooo stoked its been a 72 year long wait for this! Disney better go ALL out for this movie! The Princess and the Fog I'll be first in line for this one!
Yay! I can't wait for The Princess and the Frog. I'm biracial ( half black ) and I must say I am kind of excited about a black princess, but to be fair I'm just excited about a NEW traditional animation princess movie in GENERAL. I miss my childhood :(. I'm about to be 21 and I refuse to grow out of my Disney princess phase. Call it Peter Pan syndrome if you will. :D I'm totally seeing it the day it comes out! Count me in!
As an African American I longed for the day I could see my face reflected positively in a Fairy-tale. I was happy to find out the Princess was named Maddy. My Daughter is named Maddy too.(Madeline) Its a family name that goes back over five generations. Why are so many people saying this name is demeaning? If the film is set in the 20's then it is historically correct. Now they want to change it to Tiana? Who came up with that? Is Tiana reminiscent of the south in the 20's?
All I know is that the press reported there was unhappiness expressed from some people outside Disney about the name Maddy -- I don't know who from. I think Maddy is a wonderful name.
For me, it's still too early to pass judgement. I've heard so many different things concerning this project. I am VERY excited that Disney FINALLY decided to create a black princess, yet nervous at the same time. It is VERY important to me that Disney gives her the same care and attention that they give the other Disney princess's.
I wish nothing but the best for this project and all that's involved.
Forgive me for asking you in reply, why do you assume there are no African-Americans involved in the writing and production of the story? And to assume your question is valid, on the other side of the "coin", would you say that it isn't ethical for African-Americans to write about Caucasians? No, I doubt that. So why look at everything through race? Celebrate what Disney is doing with this story!
exactly, dude. And there's no difference between Blacks or Whites besides skin color. They have the same minds, same tallents. And if you've ever been to Epcot, disney includes lots of nationalities in their productions.
:) Yes I understand, BUT I NEVER SAID that there were no African-americans or blacks. Well I guess I didn't mean ethical, I just like to find out once in a while I have nothing against any caucasian person behind the movi, and I do feel greatful :)
Disney has released the opening date for "The Princess and the Frog" and it will be a 2009 Christmas present for the city of New Orleans where the film is set... perhaps a present in more ways than one, beyond how the film's location is in and around New Orleans and that the Disney animated feature opens on Christmas Day 2009.
Perhaps the Crescent City will be hosting a world premEAR for the film as Disney returns to traditional hand-drawn animation, similar to how back on June 19, 1996 when
...Disney had its "Festival of Fun" in New Orleans for the world premiere of the "Hunchback of Notre Dame" movie complete with a Disney-style parade through the French Quarter and the film's first-ever public showing on huge screens inside of the Superdome following a fabulous Disney musical live stage show.
Well, details of the film's world premiere will be released on another day, but when I brought up the question in front of Disney CEO Bob Iger last year at Disney's annual shareholder ...
...meeting also attended by Walt Disney Pictures' head Dick Cook, my video chronicles what was said.
Briefly, Disney head Bob Iger answered that a world premiere of "The Princess and the Frog" in New Orleans was pretty much a sure thing, and he turned to Dick Cook for confirmation of that. I was lucky enough to attend that marvelous event with my wife and son, and have fond memories of it (plus video tape of the live coverage of it that the Disney Channel and did of it). . .
Dick Cook was also involved with the world premieres for "Pocahontas" in NYC & "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".
So, Dick Cook was one of those responsible for pulling off that fantastic event held in New Orleans back in 1996. And that's why Iger turned to Cook as he did, and why chances for a grand Disney-style world premEAR of "The Princess and the Frog" in New Orleans are so promising.
I don't see how it can be considered racist or unfair. I mean...cinderella was a maid...snowwhite. Weren't all those older movies sort of against women? Beauty and the beast "It's not ok for a woman to read. Sonn she starts getting ideas, thinking." Its just sad that people won't leave fictional movies be....it's not a dosumentary and it doesn't always reflects the truth. They're just ideas for the story..not to mock people
But Disney should also make other princesses. First ,there are like hundreds of myths and fairytales from almost every single culture on earth. There is no lack of fables for Disney. I also hear they will be having a Scottish Princess.I hope they make a princess for many other cultures as well. Disney needs to show the diverse and multiracial world America is! It will also expand the franchise.
I think the fact is, these fairy tales are supposed to be with a European Cast and I would keep it that way. An African American cast would be GREAT in an African American musical. It would be natural! Fun, spicy, jazzy! DON'T do in in a European Musical. It isn't good. And what is this New Orleans/Princess stuff? That doesn't mix AT ALL.
But I guess she could be like Belle. a farmer's daughter. Not poor, but still not rich.
Another thing is the story and design of Titana.
She should have curly hair. I can't recall ever seeing a Disney princess with curly hair.
Wavy maybe,but not curly.
I hope Disney make more African descended princesses. Maybe a fairytale or myth from Africa or from the Australia or the Caribbean Perhaps Nigeria or Puerto Rico
Actually, If you look it up on wikipedia, It appears that her hair may be curly. The first "screenshot", if you will, from the movie has been posted there:)
I can't wait for this film. But the changes in the names were unnessesary.
1. Maddy is an okay name. An american slave girl was named Maddy. Ashely Tisdale plays a girl called Maddy on Disney Channel? I mean the name could be short for Madeline.
They thought thay "Maddy" sounded too much like "Mammy" and said it would be offensive to the black community, which I personally don't get. I'm black and I thought Maddy was a much nicer than Tiana and Maddy fits the time period more. But that's just me.
Isn't the princess's name going to be Maddy or is it spelled Maddie? & Isn't Randy Newman going to compose the music for this movie? The animated feauture takes place in New Orleans French Quarters?
Original name was Maddy, now Tiana. Prince's name was Harry, now Naveen. Go to DisneyEcho DOT emuck DOT com/messages and then click on the "Animation" link in the yellow box at the top right of the screen. Then select the topic named Disney's "The Princess and the Frog" -- you'll find lots more about the movie set in New Orleans area/French Quarter. Randy Newman is doing the score, yes.
Is this movie supposed to be based on E.D Baker's "The Tales of the Frog Pincess"? Because from what I have heard and read about this upcoming movie, and from what I know, if it is supposed to be based on them, then all the E.D. Baker fans will be very dissapionted.
Of course, I could just say that the storyline generally runs along the same lines as the marriage between Gawain and the hag (the story they borrowed on for Shrek).
I have a feeling Disney will be drawing on that story in terms of the whole women's-choice aspect, if it is, indeed, the 'Frog Princess' story type that they are using. . . .
I can only hope. So many worthy stories are forgotten and neglected. . . .
Former CEO Michael Eisner gave the edict that traditional animation was dead and that everything was to be created with CGI/3D software from then on. He also fired a lot of talented animators. For these and other bad decisions of his, there was a shareholder revolt resulting in him ending his contract early.
Traditional Animation dead? What kind of nonsense is that? Universal made a 2D film in 2006 called Curious George. And firing a lot of talented animators? What a bad decision he made. lol
Traditional animation is not dead and lives now again at Disney. Michael Eisner is the one who thought that it was dead -- and he is no longer with the company.
Good. No one likes him anyway. I can't blame Walt's spirit for being pissed off. Walt passed on leaving his company in good hands, but it did lead to bad hands. I just hope they don't wait to start up traditional animation. They need to go back now!
Traditional animation is back at Disney and going on as we "speak". And from what I've seen of "The Princess and the Frog", Disney is back at its top form. The new news that John Goodman is now part of the cast providing voices for the movie is great to know!
I look foreword to that movie, even though it's a whole year away. The thing I don't get is, why did the Disney company stopped making 2D films in the first place?
Lack of ideas, I would agree with, but that really doesn't have anything to do with the genres of animation. Any company would have financial problems, or in regards to money. For that, they made ridiculous sequels. I didn't really see any competitors from any other companies. Warner Bros. closed the animation company, and films from Fox, and Dreamworks blows, except for Shrek. Come to think of it, if they didn't cancel traditional animation, they would've been a good rivals towards Disney.

I'm willing to wait until the movie comes out and not pre-judge it about what character "should" or "should not" be. We'll have to wait and see if she was born a princess or somehow becomes one I guess.
DisneyEchoTV 3 years ago
I agree... I mean, I think it'd be cool if she started out as a chambermaid, but only because the truth that she was a princess was hidden from her or something. I dunno. I'm just excited their doing this, and I'm saving my judging for after I see it, like you. After all, Echanted certainly surprised me after I'd seen it, it's now one of my favorites.
justlikenamine 3 years ago
the film is set in the 1920's. tiana is of that era. like the name Pearl. it sounds like an black woman from the 1920's and its pretty. or josephine, napoleans josephine was a princess and also of african ancestry. or marie, as in marie laveau.
im glad she is dark. i like the voodoo element.
but i TOTALLY understand black folks concern. disney and other animated portrayals of african americans hasnt been very kind (think song of the south and those old tom and jerry cartoons)
mariethesainted 3 years ago
Have you seen "Song of the South"? I have and I disagree with your opinion about it. IMHO, the white people are the ones that don't look good in that movie, not the African-Americans.
DisneyEchoTV 3 years ago
...and please don't blame Tom and Jerry on Disney! Those cartoons came from a different studio, not Disney.
DisneyEchoTV 3 years ago
As a black woman, i think we complain too much. Some Disney princesses were some form of maids. And the name thing is even more absurd. She's a girl from New Orleans. Madeliene(Maddy) is a beautiful French name. How is it stereotypically black lower class? Something like Laquisha is a black lower class name.
The only change i agree on is the title because Frog Princess was too much for the 1st black princess.
This movie might end up totally different from the fairy tale if there's nemore changes.
cbuz06 3 years ago
i know. I'm looking forward to this movie and I'm 13 and African American. i honestly dont see why theyre complaining so much. most of the disney princesses were maids, like snow white and cinderella

the princess should have been from st. louis.
300k 3 years ago
What have you got against New Orleans?
DisneyEchoTV 3 years ago
Nothing, it just would have been better had she been from Saint Louis.
300k 3 years ago

Hey, you're not the only one!:D I have the same ambition! But I'm one year younger than you, and you're not stupid. So, keep drawing, ok?
And i just can't wait for this movie!!

Me three! Drawing is a hobby of mine, but after possibly journeying the route of freelance art and graphic design, I really would love to animate for disney 9especially since romours say they really ARE going back to 2-D, even after this.) This looks to be very good.

Is Tiana reminiscent of the south in the 20's?
dmcubas 3 years ago 2
All I know is that the press reported there was unhappiness expressed from some people outside Disney about the name Maddy -- I don't know who from. I think Maddy is a wonderful name.
DisneyEchoTV 3 years ago
Because a lot of people thought it was like a name for a slave or a lower -class name
YuiHarunaShinozaki 3 years ago
It's a common name, but short for madeline, which I have never found to be "lower class."
Another thing I heard was that the name sounded reminiscent of the word "mammy"...
what?
I suppose, if anything, it may not sound "princessy" enough. Who knows.
Kyonkyonpanda 3 years ago
go look it up in wikipedia, it explains it rather well.

I'm 21 too and agree about the traditional medium. I look forward for this movie. I'll never be too old for Disney.

I agree. I think Maddy is a wonderful name.
Glindathegood01 3 years ago 3
actually, the name "maddy" was thought as too racy (since she is african-american a.k.a. Black), and the name was discarded, and replaced "Tiana"
heraavria 3 years ago 4
For me, it's still too early to pass judgement. I've heard so many different things concerning this project. I am VERY excited that Disney FINALLY decided to create a black princess, yet nervous at the same time. It is VERY important to me that Disney gives her the same care and attention that they give the other Disney princess's.
I wish nothing but the best for this project and all that's involved.

Forgive me for this, but wouldn't be more ethical for a black person to had write this story??
RaptorQueen 3 years ago
Forgive me for asking you in reply, why do you assume there are no African-Americans involved in the writing and production of the story? And to assume your question is valid, on the other side of the "coin", would you say that it isn't ethical for African-Americans to write about Caucasians? No, I doubt that. So why look at everything through race? Celebrate what Disney is doing with this story!
DisneyEchoTV 3 years ago
exactly, dude. And there's no difference between Blacks or Whites besides skin color. They have the same minds, same tallents. And if you've ever been to Epcot, disney includes lots of nationalities in their productions.
Aaron2071 3 years ago 6
:) Yes I understand, BUT I NEVER SAID that there were no African-americans or blacks. Well I guess I didn't mean ethical, I just like to find out once in a while I have nothing against any caucasian person behind the movi, and I do feel greatful :)

Disney has released the opening date for "The Princess and the Frog" and it will be a 2009 Christmas present for the city of New Orleans where the film is set... perhaps a present in more ways than one, beyond how the film's location is in and around New Orleans and that the Disney animated feature opens on Christmas Day 2009.
Perhaps the Crescent City will be hosting a world premEAR for the film as Disney returns to traditional hand-drawn animation, similar to how back on June 19, 1996 when
DisneyEchoTV 3 years ago
...Disney had its "Festival of Fun" in New Orleans for the world premiere of the "Hunchback of Notre Dame" movie complete with a Disney-style parade through the French Quarter and the film's first-ever public showing on huge screens inside of the Superdome following a fabulous Disney musical live stage show.
Well, details of the film's world premiere will be released on another day, but when I brought up the question in front of Disney CEO Bob Iger last year at Disney's annual shareholder ...
DisneyEchoTV 3 years ago
...meeting also attended by Walt Disney Pictures' head Dick Cook, my video chronicles what was said.
Briefly, Disney head Bob Iger answered that a world premiere of "The Princess and the Frog" in New Orleans was pretty much a sure thing, and he turned to Dick Cook for confirmation of that. I was lucky enough to attend that marvelous event with my wife and son, and have fond memories of it (plus video tape of the live coverage of it that the Disney Channel and did of it). . .
DisneyEchoTV 3 years ago

They're just ideas for the story..not to mock people
kasia97 3 years ago 7
But Disney should also make other princesses. First ,there are like hundreds of myths and fairytales from almost every single culture on earth. There is no lack of fables for Disney. I also hear they will be having a Scottish Princess.I hope they make a princess for many other cultures as well. Disney needs to show the diverse and multiracial world America is! It will also expand the franchise.
IrisRainbow 3 years ago 2
the diverse and multiracial world AMERICA is???
madeulook811 3 years ago
I think the fact is, these fairy tales are supposed to be with a European Cast and I would keep it that way. An African American cast would be GREAT in an African American musical. It would be natural! Fun, spicy, jazzy! DON'T do in in a European Musical. It isn't good. And what is this New Orleans/Princess stuff? That doesn't mix AT ALL.

I guess you'll just have to wait and see! ;-)
DisneyEchoTV 3 years ago
(sorry typo unnecessary)
Okay it's alright for her to be a chambermaid.
IrisRainbow 3 years ago 2
Actually, If you look it up on wikipedia, It appears that her hair may be curly. The first "screenshot", if you will, from the movie has been posted there:)

I can't wait for this film. But the changes in the names were unnessesary.
1. Maddy is an okay name. An american slave girl was named Maddy. Ashely Tisdale plays a girl called Maddy on Disney Channel? I mean the name could be short for Madeline.
Tiana is not better Disney- it is not!
Now the prince's name change i'm okay with.
Harry the Prince is not a good choice.
Naveen sounds charming.
IrisRainbow 3 years ago
whyd they change her name from maddy to tiana? Whats wrong with maddy?
sydstrick 3 years ago
someone thought naming a black girl Maddy was racist.
...somehow.
ronnehh 3 years ago
They thought thay "Maddy" sounded too much like "Mammy" and said it would be offensive to the black community, which I personally don't get. I'm black and I thought Maddy was a much nicer than Tiana and Maddy fits the time period more. But that's just me.
breecheese14 3 years ago
Maddy sounds too much like a slave name. Tiana is less primitive.
lns1988 3 years ago
I actually like the name Tiana more than Maddy, but both are fine by me
midnightsunrising 3 years ago
Isn't the princess's name going to be Maddy or is it spelled Maddie? & Isn't Randy Newman going to compose the music for this movie? The animated feauture takes place in New Orleans French Quarters?
GOTHMIDNIGHTMERMAID 3 years ago
Original name was Maddy, now Tiana. Prince's name was Harry, now Naveen. Go to DisneyEcho DOT emuck DOT com/messages and then click on the "Animation" link in the yellow box at the top right of the screen. Then select the topic named Disney's "The Princess and the Frog" -- you'll find lots more about the movie set in New Orleans area/French Quarter. Randy Newman is doing the score, yes.
DisneyEchoTV 3 years ago
Is this movie supposed to be based on E.D Baker's "The Tales of the Frog Pincess"? Because from what I have heard and read about this upcoming movie, and from what I know, if it is supposed to be based on them, then all the E.D. Baker fans will be very dissapionted.
trishab23 3 years ago

DisneyEchoTV 3 years ago
Traditional Animation dead? What kind of nonsense is that? Universal made a 2D film in 2006 called Curious George. And firing a lot of talented animators? What a bad decision he made. lol
GoldenFox17 3 years ago 2
yes but im pretty sure curious george wasnt a huge box office sucsess
jatzcraker 3 years ago
That doesn't matter. What matters is that it was 2-D at that time, which proves that 2-D not dead.
GoldenFox17 3 years ago
If traditional animation is dead then why did he bother making sequels of Walt's Classics? Walt died for that? I don't think so.
PrettyKitty77 3 years ago
Traditional animation is not dead and lives now again at Disney. Michael Eisner is the one who thought that it was dead -- and he is no longer with the company.
DisneyEchoTV 3 years ago
Good. No one likes him anyway. I can't blame Walt's spirit for being pissed off. Walt passed on leaving his company in good hands, but it did lead to bad hands. I just hope they don't wait to start up traditional animation. They need to go back now!
PrettyKitty77 3 years ago
Traditional animation is back at Disney and going on as we "speak". And from what I've seen of "The Princess and the Frog", Disney is back at its top form. The new news that John Goodman is now part of the cast providing voices for the movie is great to know!
DisneyEchoTV 3 years ago
I look foreword to that movie, even though it's a whole year away. The thing I don't get is, why did the Disney company stopped making 2D films in the first place?
GoldenFox17 3 years ago 2
financial problems, lack of ideas, out dated animation technique, competitors..... there can be tonns of reasons actually
Attilaakiraly 3 years ago
Lack of ideas, I would agree with, but that really doesn't have anything to do with the genres of animation. Any company would have financial problems, or in regards to money. For that, they made ridiculous sequels. I didn't really see any competitors from any other companies. Warner Bros. closed the animation company, and films from Fox, and Dreamworks blows, except for Shrek. Come to think of it, if they didn't cancel traditional animation, they would've been a good rivals towards Disney.
