  • a 7-string guitar?

  • @per2006 ya man!!!!

  • Kreator shirt

  • Thats not a fucking triplet :L

  • mechanix..

  • Those arent tripplets they're 16 notes with the last note rested

  • @6t9papa yes...if you read the note at the beginning of the video i corrected that

  • These are two different techniques that give two different sounds. One shouldn't be played in place of the other, but both learned to equal skill.

  • this is flat out wrong. hes making to much motion. when he does the up stroke his hand moves towards then bridge for 1cm. Why? No reason; bad technique. Also its not smart to mention triplets when your talking about straight notes.. 8th and 16th notes.. Triplets are a whole different thing.

  • la propreté !!!!

  • shut up noob. i can play time signatures like 69/42 and 6 billion BPM tempos. you should try using your mind to play for you like the pros. noob!

  • Dude sounds like Seth Rogan!

  • Good struming i like it u r awsum thanks

  • san gazotenekes akougetai

  • @TMagoutis ENGLISH DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TMagoutis hahahahahahahahaha

  • @TMagoutis XAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXAXA!!!! xD

  • jeeez... im tryuing and been trying in months now bu ti still not get it :(

ehm at begining... do u mute your strings?? if u do.. how u do it? when i try to mute my strings i get a entire different sound like a bep (not beep but bep) very short sound and not good at all :(

  • @redhawkrobin you just have to keep practicing and watching other helpful videos.

and yes the beginning is palm muted. just rest a bit of your palm at your pinky finger on the start of the strings. play around with the location and pressure and you will find a suitable amount.

  • @Decadencebass Rwta thn mana s ama roufaei kavli re file

  • DREAM THEATER, A FORTUNE IN LIES 0:08- 0:12!

  • Just noticed the Kreator shirt...And then what you were "playing" sounded like Amok Run by Kreator ;D Crafty!

  • @IrradiatedToaster haha that was an unintentional coincidence though. good job noticing that though!!

  • You are kinda slow aren't you? Work on that to get it faster :)

  • @thrashredx10 like stated in previous comments, this wasnt a speed video...

  • schecter? Very nice :]

  • @Kawasaki924 haha its not a schecter. its esp/ltd steve carpenter signature model

  • @Kawasaki924 haha its not a schecter. its esp/ltd steve carpenter signature model

  • @Kawasaki924 haha its not a schecter. its esp/ltd steve carpenter signature model

  • Ah the good ol' Stephan model from ESP/LTD. I noticed something with your picking hand, try relaxing a bit more, you'll get more of a fluid pattern going.

  • @linus614 thanks for the tip but im sure it was just because i was filming and was in a rush haha

  • @Decadencebass I can understand that perfectly haha

  • HOLY MOTHERFUCKING 7 STRING GUITAR!! EPPIIIICCC

  • sounds similar to circle picking, thanks for posting the tip

  • Any tips on pick-holding/how to relax your wrist? I have to triplet pick like that in my band at 245 and I can't fucking do it. I've gotten up to like 190 but thats it.

  • @Anight7mareX 245 is crazy fast for galloping. the only thing you can do is slowly work your way up 5 tempo per few weeks or so until it becomes easier and you can maybe develop something thats comfortable for you

  • @Anight7mareX Why would you want to do it at 245? The gallop wouldn't even be audible at that speed.

  • @remnant24 soundcloud /smileb182/wtf-triplets

Just add the .com after soundcloud with no spaces between that and that /smileb182 part

  • 7 Strings 4 Life!!

  • @ArtOfSelfReliance i wouldn't be talking if you were playing whit jason mraz and all thoses people am sure you would have a video up about but it. Well you have 0 subs HAHAHAHAHH

  • yeah you all can suck my cock, i jammed with dave matthews band, jason mraz, and mumford and sons...you fucking tweets can suck a cock...wanna be 7 string guitar heros...HHAHAHAHAHHA

  • @ArtOfSelfReliance Guess what I've played with some Okay at best guitar players! EVERYONE LOOK AT ME!

  • @WereRabbbit dave matthews? okay at best? are you kidding me... wow...yeah and jason mraz has THEE longest running top hit song of all time...your an idiot.

  • @ArtOfSelfReliance They're far from the most skilled/creative guitarists. They can be as good as they want, and never did I say they were bad, but they're not the best.

Quit being an elitist butthole by the way.

  • Your guitar is sick man! You modified the pickups right?

  • @AzizanWMusic thanks alot its a great guitar.no the pickup placement was made like that. it helps cut out the mud sound from the B string when playing heavy music. i have added new pickups to it since this video though

  • @4blackout FARTofSelfReliance is one of the biggest dickwads on YouTube. He has an opinion on everything, usually bad. He believes the earth is ruled by reptilians. Best ignore this jumped up nancy boy prickless wonder and just laugh at his stupid, meaningless drivel.

  • @hotspurschool this is what happens when you point out MASONIC SCUM, they follow you every were and attack you....this his masons operate...freemason scum..

  • @ArtOfSelfReliance I follow you everywhere because you're a dickhead and I like annoying you now. It's not very nice to be a target of negative comments, is it? Maybe one day you will learn your lesson.

  • @4blackout yeah...were are there national sold out tours HAHAHAHA DUDE i saw your videos...YOUR SLOPPY AS THEY GET...so you FUCK OFF>.you shouldnt be giving lessons..your sloppy dude...its a real fact you must face...you rush your learning so you can play a few sweeps and wanna be...

  • @ArtOfSelfReliance You really are an obnoxious little prick, aren't you? I hope someone finds out your real identity and knocks you the fuck out.

  • @4blackout lol your a child..easy to see in your picture...never said that..dont put words in my mouth...think before you speak...like i said...were are all the amazing guitarists today using 7 strings...OH there arent any....no one who represents well composed music uses one...its just another trendy step...keep practicing ...you need it...i bet you take lessons...am i right?

  • Informative video :)

  • OMG, STOP MAKING VIDEOS!! YOU ARE TEACHING BAD TECHNIQUE AND MAKING PEOPLE WORSE PLAYERS! STOP IT!

  • @ArtOfSelfReliance i hope your joking. how does adding more notes to a guitar in regards with a 7th string, prove your 6 string mastering? how many years do you need to play a 19 fret guitar before moving on the the full 24?

  • @Decadencebass no im not...7 strings are fucking pointless...its just a over exaggerated guitar for wanna be bad ass's thats all...explain to me why no great guitar players of our time use them....only wanna bes....PERIOD.... its not a argument...its a fact...does a firt time drummer use a 20 piece kit? NO...he uses a 5 piece starter set until hes a fucking pro....its like a dick measuring contest were you always loose...

  • @ArtOfSelfReliance ...people who write comments like this are most probably unable to cope with one string at the same time...

  • @jimmyriesling yeah thats why jason mraz personal guitarist cant figure my shit out, and people like dave mathews know my name ....get lost punk...keep steppin

  • @ArtOfSelfReliance ...too bad you cant even spell dave's name correctly then...but hey, why would a real guitar hero like you give a shit about matthew's crap anyway...

  • Comment removed

  • @jimmyriesling WOW judgement based on a typo...troll....

  • @ArtOfSelfReliance ...what can i say to the world guitar hero, that doenst make me a troll...praise the lord...

  • @ArtOfSelfReliance mate you aint got any likes and i use a 7 string 7 string guitars are great for solo's and if you listen to bands like dragonforce they use on in ultra beat down galneryus does the same but aint just power metal 7 strings are also used for death metal any music really also you question is also stupid because its like saying to a 5 string bass player or a six whats the point in them why not use a 4 string well it also helps for downtuned songs like drop c#

  • @fightbox4 actually i play a 6 string bass in my band. ive used it for 7 years and i would never go back to a four string. the lows are great for octaves and the highs are great for melodies and solos...so your point is kinda stupid

  • @Decadencebass He must be trolling

  • @Decadencebass lol you an idiot first i thought you was cool but you aint first all i was making a point to artofselfreliance not you i was telling what was the point in a 7 string so mate you fucking the biggest douch on youtube now fuck off i was deffending you but aint now

  • @ArtOfSelfReliance Are you fucking stupid? No one GIVES A SHIT about how it looks. You just add another string. Plus it's not about taking a step further from 6-strings. I play both, because I like to do some drop C stuff, and I like to do some drop A or drop G#, wich a 7-string allows you to do without losing your oppurtunity to play in the higher register. Go to fucking bed.

  • @GameKid98 did i say anything about looks...no...read again...yeah you play in drop C...typical wanna be guitarist ...drop G# HAHAHAH you people crack me up...your a child...

  • i dont get the point of these videos. surely if you cant do something so easy as gallop pick or alternate pick from the moment you first play, you should just step away from the guitar and try the triangle instead. seriously... i used to laugh so hard at the kids struggling through green day after like 2 years of playing. just give up already, stop deluding yourself, you suck.

  • @bazbonehead the point is (regardless the level of difficulty) to help/aid/assist/teach players are not as experienced as the person in the guitar video giving the tutorial. this isn't the hardest thing i can play and i'm sure its the not the hardest thing you can play either, but to someone just starting out they might need ideas ranging in difficulty to help them along.so insulting simple guitar videos is pretty lame dude.

  • @Decadencebass theres too many lame'os playin the guitar anyway. gotta cut the shit somehow. best start at the source.

  • @bazbonehead ...and i guess when you started you were off the bat incredible in regards to the way you are assuming? if you know how to play guitar, why did you click and watch this video?

  • @Decadencebass mr. God i want to see you playing

  • @bazbonehead, Different people are good at different things. The pace people learn is subjective. Quit being so arrogant.

  • @bazbonehead ...boy...go and limp your biskit...you obviously have no idea about guitar-playing. you are just one of those guys who sit at home, playing unplugged while the real song is in the background and when its finsihed you get up and think you can really do it....

  • @bazbonehead mate you aint even got any videos to of playing guitar so you cant talk

  • motherfucker...is that a SC signature ESP 7 string? hells yea i want one...

  • @sshhrroooomm ya dude...there are a few different models that vary in price and pickup quality.i got a cheaper one and changed the main pickup my self

  • Kreator pleasure to kill shirt!

  • @Imminentdeception well there was no hiding that from you was there?

  • @Decadencebass No mam

  • your picking isnt very consistant

  • @deadprince666 neither are weather reports

  • Raining blood

  • reminds me of jon schaffer technique

  • Blow your nose dude

  • ...the standard "Up DOWN Up" picking style for when playing three notes which is STILL called tri-...uh.. sectupletts or something.... what ever the 3 notes in a row THINGY is called oh ya Tripolets...

Ok so he really means: "instead of playing 'UP and DOWN and UP again style for picking a fast tripolets..." and then he shows some example of some picking styles: the first example was not an "UP, down, UP" ,at all. I had to rewind a couple of time but Im pretty sure it was "Down UP Down" ...

  • He says: "instead of goin UP and DOWN..."(which describes motion going up first, then down again), ...is not the kind of tripolets ive ever heard of. "UP and DOWN" Where is the back UP? you said it was a tripolet picking style, not a re-deffinition mathematics. Now Im goin to have to call 3 cute chics who were born and the same time "Quads" whats picking 5 notes, quintuplets? Ok Ok Im willing to concede that he may have mis spoke.

So lets assume we all know he meant picking using ,,,,

  • My guitar professor told me that a couple of years ago he was receiving a lesson himself with a fellow who, if I remember correctly, plays a lot of jazz. The guy watched him play for a while, and suddenly stopped him and asked if he knew what he was doing. He was then told he was using a technique I think he called 'crescent' picking'; it's a technique that jazz guitarists use to play smooth AND fast. You make a half-circle with each down/up pick. The fingers help a lot with this. Try it out!!!!

  • thats terrible, you change position and it will slow you down in the end because you have to change TO it. Don't watch this, watch tutorials with Batio

  • SOUNDS LIKE SHIT... GAY GUITAR PICKUP CONFIGURATION. FUCK OFF RETARD

  • @cherrysoda3 ...someones insane.did i build the guitar?

  • @Decadencebass

Guitar sounds like shit.....it sounds like someone is sawing or rasping a piece off wood.

  • @cherrysoda3 actually...stephan carpenter designed that guitar. its his signature series guitar. he really knew what he was doing tonal wise when designing his guitars with his pickups designed like that. they keep the low notes on the neck from sounding muddy. BIG help on the 8 strings as well

  • @wxp24 ya it makes a huge difference. especially downtuned it sounds sharp while on the 7th string.ive played others where its not as clear.

  • @Decadencebass I honestly think its a very genious design in a way. Yes, it does has its downfalls (not quite as thick) but its still a damn good design. I kind of want one just for that feature.

  • @cherrysoda3 funny.I would like to see you tell him that in person.

  • u sound like vork from the guild lol

  • Interesting technique that can be applied to several types of THINGS. I am goig to try it on my bongos.

  • this must be the most shit guitar lesson I've ever seen on youtube.

  • @Hertsman50 same thing your mom said when i tried to teach her this

  • @Decadencebass nah she said the same thing, fucking shit lesson.

  • @Hertsman50 ...i didn't disagree with you, lol.

  • why is the rythym pickup that far from the neck?

  • @dmohr7 since its Stephen Carpenter signature guitar, he plays mostly on the 7th string.if it were placed higher up it would sound very low and sloppy when switched on

  • @dmohr7 Rithm pickup omg.....

  • @boycottRAVENISE00 try maybe a softer pick which will snap off the string before it pulls to hard

  • Actually what you are playing is two 16th notes and a eighth...see my lesson on "16th Note Subdivisions" Guitar or "Triplets & Tuplets" Guitar

    With all respect.

    Thanks, Jeff

  • @jtlessons You're dead right. Or even three 16ths and a rest here as it seems like he mutes after each three note block.

  • your a FAG brodie srry to tell u so good vid tho

  • dararan dararan dararan....drr-drr-drr! xD thats how i feel the triplets thing. anyways i like it. i started to like them since i first heard "This Calling"

  • appreciate the effort but you should practice more...

  • nice stephen carpenter model!

  • Hi I wish you success

  • 1 2&3 4& 1 2&3 4& 1

    OR

    1 &' 2&' 3&' 4&'

but not triplets. I know you've got that a lot, but i haven't seen the actual counting detailed out just yet, just in case somebody is wondering.

  • These aren't triplets...

  • Masturbating made productive.

  • @245ikl LOL!!!

  • By the way its not galloping that would be four notes or more, not three......

  • definitely not easier

  • one should practice stuff like that with clean sound, otherwise you get crappy technique

  • fails for faster gallops.

  • you didnt figure this out, kerry king uses this techinque since he begun playing xD

  • YAY...13,000 VIEWS

  • @Decadencebass YAY...20000 VIEWS

  • @Decadencebass yay 25,969

  • Kreator!!!

  • ...i thought these were the way normal triplets are played, thats they way i gallop

  • were u just doing triplets in the 6th string?

  • @megakisstallica12 yes that was the 6th string (the 7th string would have sounded alittle sloppy)

  • haha i can play triplets faster

  • @DarkSpartanNL

haha so can i....this wasn't a speed video

  • oh damnit :p i couldnt go much faster anyway though!

  • @DarkSpartanNL I learned triplets from guitar hero i sware

  • cuz the normal way to do it is just so hard? it took me like an hour to learn when i started playing.

  • ltd ?

  • @dirtoff99 yup.its stephen carpenters sig model SC 207

  • weird pickup placment

  • @MrRocker989 That's Stephen Carpenters Signature model.

  • @G27dude yes it is.

thats was the only strange thing about the guitar.

but i don't use the neck pickup so often for me to be worried about the tiny bit of deep tone loss when used for solos or leads

  • Thanks. I can finally do triplets.

  • THESE ARE NOT TRIPLETS

  • best practice to learn triplet/galloping is playing Rainning Blood (Slayer)

  • @Tellurian7 No it isn't. Maiden's "The Evil That Men Do" or "The Trooper" is.

  • It really annoys me how people practice and practice and turn out to be insane at guitar.

Then you put a piece of music in front of them and they're completely bemused.

Just learn some theory, makes everyone's life a lot easier.

This isn't having a go at this video, in fact I'm quite glad I found this video as I want to try this out now. But I knew before I even clicked the video that the title was wrong, gallops aren't triplets.

3 finger bass gallops will always be more fun though :)

  • you should invest in a fourth grade music book, these arent triplets bud :) and your tone is fucking awful, have a good day, or not, i'm hoping not.

  • So, i find it way more effective not moving the hand just the wrist and fingers, economizing time and stamina.

  • im digging that kreator shirt!

  • These are not triplets. They're just gallops. Not the same thing. At all.

  • I'm just going to say... these aren't triplets, they're bursts of three sixteenths.

  • @dwsabianguy Who gives a shit.

  • @dwsabianguy They aren't even thre 16th's, they are 2 16th's and an 8th ;D

  • @dwsabianguy I'm just going to say... his video description is 100% correct.

  • @dwsabianguy read the description.

  • @dwsabianguy those are 16th note triplets. "burst" is not a musical term that I'm aware of.

  • Are you palm muting at the same time as you do that?

  • @zetsubou at 40 seconds its palm mute and then i go open stringed ...but yes with palm muting it wont be a problem at all.

  • My friend says that is the wrong way to play, well he plays [down,up,down] [up,down,up][down,up,down] [up,down,up]. And he plays guitar and I don't! I knew that "tactic" before somebody had even told to me. It's so damn annoying that he doesn't belive me!

  • @InfernumThe

Well there are right and wrong ways to do things on a guitar, but if it comes down to a comfort level thats a little different but still gets the job done, then it shouldn't matter. It all depends on the guitarist. Lot's of people develop their own style of playing certain things.

  • @Decadencebass Very true, everyone has their own style. I play my triplets in a down-up-up fashion using more than one string. Somewhat hybrid, and not encompassing one string, using octaves, fifths and utilizing string skipping mixed in as well. It feels so comfortable to me and i can really get it going extremely fast.

  • @InfernumThe I think there is no such thing as "a wrong way" when it comes to playing guitar... I used to do triplets like your friend also and it's pretty good way of doing it as I can do it fast as heck that way. Then I figured galloping and to my mind it sounds somewhat better. I can't do triplets (atleast yet) as fast as I used to but I'm getting there with practice =) so I understand your friend's point of view totally.

  • @InfernumThe I mean technic!!! Damn I'm stupid...

  • it's like galopping

  • thanks for the lesson!

  • It looks like you striking with the back edge of your pick on the down stroke and the front edge on the up stroke as opposed to the front edge on the down stroke and the back edge on the upstroke. You should make mention of that next time. Alot of guitar players use the front edge on the down stroke which puts your wrist in a totally different position. Thanks for your post.
