Silat is from God Almighty Most Gracious that's why the first lesson of Pentjak Silat is there is no defense without Allah swt, that being said... I'm a latinamerican teaching a west sumatran form of silat... and a true pusakah... our tradition is all silat comes from 25 core systems from Sumatra.... but God Most Wise knows best who is who and what is what... what matters is you keep what you have of inspiration in humility, the meaning of which is awe... of our true place in the divine presence
i'm indonesian.. when i was child.. i'm not interest about pencak silat... because some of the movements is like a dance.. not like karate.. but one day... my uncle (he is "guru silat" in kemayoran) and me have a walk in bus station (blok-m).. and sudenly some of a gang stop us and try to rob and ask for money... spontaneously my uncle give them one hard punch into his chest... suddenly the man was fall.... and didn't get up anymore...
that time i realize.. pencak silat is deadly martial art...
Silat belongs to Malays. Not Malays as in those who live in Malaysia. Malays as in an Ethnic group in Southeast Asia. Indonesia, Malaysia, Southern Thailand, Philippines, Brunei etc.
@C0pyPasta yup... but the region which it was originated is Java and Sumatera, and both is in (now) Indonesia... people from Indonesian region like Aceh, Minang, Bugis, Java, Banjar, etc migrated to Malay peninsula and spread the art of silat. Around 90% of Malaysian malay is of Indonesian descent.
Indonesian silat is the oldest style of all silat and much more violent as it was shaped by combat and bloodshed throughout Indonesian history.

it doesnt matter. taming sari still with us hahaha. we have our own silat style as it to indonesian. it doesnt belongs to you. it belong to all malays who practice it. keris is a weapon of choice in malaysian. maybe because we have taming sari hahaha. the powerfull keris of all. jati diri orang melayu.
hello, im from indonesia. I didn't realize that Silat is so famous in Europe and is learned by Bule (we call west people "Bule") before seeing youtube video. The Guru on this video said "kebathinan", wow, im sure he knows that Silat has spiritualism substance.
