@IIIISolidSnakeIIII I know exactly what you mean, keep at it though its worth it. Approaching this song for me was like learning to play again, plus if you dont capture the spirit or breath of the piece you've missed it, but like anything, the more you dig in, the more it reveals itself.
most of his songs sound so simple, even look simple when he plays them. Then when you actually try to play them your mind gets fucked at how complicated it all is!
9:00 August 19, which is today for this comment.. My grandmother, of whom I mentioned earlier, died in the community hospice. She had 3 sons 3 daughters, many more grandchildren, and some great-grandchildren. I was pulled out of school and taken to the hospice. she lay there peacefully. and there was not one sad face. we were all happy and relieved that God had taken her home. She is without pain anymore. we will all see her again. this will always remind me of how my grandpa took care of her.
This song reminds me of me grandparents.. my grandmother is bedridden with cancer. she's in hospice.. she wont last much longer. this song spells out the situation between them right now...
His phrasing is astonishing.. He seems to turn his guitar into a piano on the 55th second... There used to be a TV quality clip of hedges playing aerial boundaries in a garden. Unfortunately it was removed. I would love to know where it came from.
BRILLIANT performance from Michael- thanks, type3! i tried sending you a private message, but youtube has been a bit funny with the messages today. Drop me a line, I might have something you'd be interested in... :)
i saw michael live in 1990...such an amazing talent...this is to me his most beautiful piece

Did you guys see that? Right before he started the song, his guitar took a big breath. Amazing.

@IIIISolidSnakeIIII The rolls are a product of the muscles in the finger, not in the wrist... I hope that helps!

I bet he didn't even mean to say it too. It came out all on it's own. "Wow".
Tman4000 3 years ago 2
"Wow's" are attracted to Michael Hedges. That's why so many W's and O's are missing from the world.

May she rest in peace... The fact that you remember them from this song can only mean they had good lives! The memories will live on.
