  • Tom you are the shit!!!!!! That piano sounds gorgeous, and you are a gifted player!!!

  • Are you tom mcdermott from the " Stone City Band"??

  • Simply perfection. Please more!!!

  • Actually there is a good transcription of Dr Johns version in 'New Orleans Piano Legends' A book of transcriptions by Hal Leonard i think.

  • Tom - you are the GREATESTTTTTTTT!

  • Damn I love this song!

  • simonj007....you are going to have to learn by playing by ear or purchasing Dr. John's New Orleans piano lessons. You do not learn New Orleans piano by playing it off of sheet music, FYI. :)

  • I love it!!! Tom McDermott, you are still my mentor and idol! :) Miss you tons.

  • people on youtube don't understand that the older cats in new orleans played like this and more importantly held a running conversation with you at the same time. that's virtuosity.

  • Excellent rendition. Excellent ideas and performance. Are you playing in a closet?

  • very inspirational. your amazing! well done

  • what a fantastic listen, great feel and note choice.

  • Hi! Awesome! I'm pretty good at piano, too! But not that good. =p

  • Does anyone have the sheet music for this or an instructional video? Thanks!

  • pure genius

  • Dear Tom,

very nice your version of Tipitina. I've got your CD (forgot the title) with this flowerish piano on the cover from our common friend Reinhold Wagnleitner, Salzburg. He and me were, and still are, very good friends since we started school together in 1955. Unfortunately you could not accompany Reini, when he held his speech here, 2 1/2 years ago. Is there a single lead sheet of tipitina (original version) available? I found it only in books. All the best, Hans.

  • Very well played. Quite an original interpretation as well!

  • It's straying off into the fringes of bebop or something, and is not the rockingly classic Tipitina i love, but it is sorta weird and deconstructed.

  • deserves more than 43 views thats for sure...very well played:)
