@Alabastermann Try run in compatibility mode for XP. Mine works, but only once before names stop showing so I don't know what parts I have on and what planets are where. That could just be the Discovery mod though.

Eve is both excellent and horrible. The training system is brutal. Anyone that starts now are screwed. There is way too much massive investment to come close to catching up and having any resemblence of decent gameplay experience.

well I play eve, so is this like a single player eve? can you make trade stations, huge space stations, walk on planets, and have mining facilities? how long does gameplay last? Is the star wars mod good? where would I find it if I were to buy it? Sorry for all the questions, I am kinda interested :p

@MrPerson61 Well, it does have a single player campaing, but once it's over you can go free through out the space (story ends about the 25% of space discovered). You can trade goods and stuff, instead of mining nor having space stations for yourself.

You can only walk on planets with the meaning of getting missions or equipment/goods.

Mods are pretty awesome and are easy to put.

You can download it, as I dunno where to find it now.

@MrPerson61 No, it isnt. You can play mp also. You can trade, it give a dynamic trade system (on the hamburg city server). You can't walk on planets. There is a big difference: Freelancer is not a mmorpg like Eve, more a cross between simulation, shooter and rpg. I like the sw-mod, but the server is almost empty. Look at freelancerserver.de if you are interested in multiplayer, you are welcome.

This game starts to become great - meaning storry/plot, ships, everything - when you are on the point to abandon it because it became boring. I really liked the game and when everything was getting really interesting my OS went belly up and had to format the HDD and forgot to backup the game saves.

Someone, please tell me of any other good games like Freelancer. I've seen lots of space games but they either are 2D, have crappy graphics (even Freelancer graphics are dated), or have a really crappy UI.

I just want....something like Freelancer 2. Anyone? Anyone??? Black Prophecy had so much potential but they f-ed it up by restricting travel to tiny 'sectors', removing any sort of afterburner (in favor of a very limited and crappy 'boost' skill that you have to train), and other flaws.

As a Starlancer/Freelancer player, I recently started my trial of Eve Online, maybe you guys should give it a go, you can't control your ship manually in the same degree as Freelancer, ships are full customisable with countless ships and equipment to fit to them. Starlancer/Freelancer were about fighters and corvettes. Eve has you flying from frigate up to titans. Google "eve online ship chart" for an example of the ships.

@tkoizumi if u have a bit of patience, X3 Terran Conflict is a Very good game, its a bit slow to start, and has a reasonably big learning curve some say, but its the best space sim ive come across, u can be a pirate, a trader, even a fleet commander,and you can pilot Any ship (if you know how to get it..) if you do get it, and need advice just post on my channel, ill try and give some advice, but im no guru..

@MrPupipopo u dont NEED to, but it does provide a lot of back story, if u can i suggest getting X3 reunion as well, this is the version just before TC.. the story lines are reasonably standalone, but the gameplay isnt based around it.. though i would suggest following the story the first time you play.. :) the hardest thing in the game would have to be making money..

I'd say Reunion is harder mission wise. In TC you can get "very hard" assassination missions that pay 1-2 million credits each for killing an M3 in the early ranks, later on M6s and M8s. Once you get ~30M invest in a TL and do some station building missions which can get you over 5 million credits profits each for what is essentially just a few jumps to systems.
