The Malmedy Massacre was definitely committed by Germans. Short version: 30 soft-skin US vehicles with ca. 110 men were shelled with over twenty 75 mm explosive shells and raked with machinegun fire. Many escaped. 56 returned to Malmedy Not all captured GIs got killed. The US War Crimes Court in Dachau in 1946 failed to establish the correct number of those men, and to subtract them from the 72 bodies found at the immediate locality, obviously most killed in action. All Germans were paroled.
@emilssonable Bill was referring to the "revenge killings" that happened because of Mamedy in Chenonge. People like John Murtha were accusing the Marines at Haditha of "revenge killings" when one of them were killed by an IED. Bill's point was that (if it were true), it had happened before and was not right to use the incident as a political football to try to score points against the President and his policy. Bill was right on all counts
@bluegsp you are probably the most gullible moron alive. He clearly said in the very first video with the debate with Westley Clark (i watched the episode before they took most of the videos offline) and he said Malmedy he was not talking about Normandy, nor was he talking about the revenge killings. He clearly Stated Malmedy, and he did it in more than one interview. in fact if you want proof that Fox changed the original transcript THEN changed it back after they were called out on it.
@NoJesusKnowPeace You need to learn to think for yourself, idiot. First of all, Fox, nor MSNBC do their transcripts. They are done for both Fox and MSNBC by a company called morningside partners and they have complete control and copyrights to the content. Fox nor MSNBC can change the transcripts if they wanted to. Kieth knows this, so that was a blatant lie by him. "Revenge killings" is what the Marines at Haditha were accused of, that was the topic.
Respond to this video... The very fact that you watch the rant that Kieth went on and your common sense didn't cause you pause tells me that you are the gullible one that is eager to believe any lie about conservatives no matter how outrageous. Check out your history, learn the context of the issue that Kieth attempted to hide and maybe you too can learn to be an independent thinker and not an idiot, brain dead liberal zombie
Such a bunch of crap... Both sides commited attrocities.. however Iam going to side with that only the Germans look like bad guys.. all the Allied stuff was either washed away or brushed aside because they were winning. That said.. Everyone knows about the Eastern Front.. enough said there.. but What about the 30million Chinese who died because of Communism? And we do trade with this fucking country... COmmuist China has commited Millions of deaths. and we buy their SHIT???
1:40 - could someone in this entire fucking world find the o'reilly/clark/malmady confrontation in it's full context instead of this "out of context sniping shit" that is Keith Olberman's trademark. Jees!! And Keith Olberman is supposed to be informed!!?? He doesn't give a shit about either side, he just gets paid by PMSNBC to be a contrarian. An Kezuki2 is just as guilty. Please play the full damn context of the confrontation chicken shit!!
It was NOT a SINGLE misspoken statement. O'Reilly has made this statement again and again, also to go as far to tell General Clark he was wrong. And some American troops executed some defenseless German Troops AFTER Malmedy? What the hell? Yea I guess if you call hanging a mess of them after Nuremberg trials is some. The man should have just said he was WRONG. And you are just as bad. You don't give any specifics as to what German troops were mistreated or by whom.
@dwade1962eagle Hey dickhead, look up Massacre at Chernogne and you will see that Bill was absolutely correct. Olbermann is a liar and should never be taken seriously.
@bluegsp Hi blue. u shouldn't call 1 a 'dickhead' just becuz they don't agree w/your teams complete foul up. I took ur advice 2 dwade & looked up Chernogne -For this u say "bill was ABSOLUTELY correct." Now billo didn't say "Chernogne" did he? So hows he correct? He didn't say 'Normandy' did he?That was the cover up fox tried 2sneak in there & still not 1 simple appology. It was agenda not a mistake hence no apology. Billo's afraid of getting caught (he would apologize, not like the other 2)
@Texture2000 Bill did not give you the context of Bill's conversation with Clark. He was giving an example of "revenge killings" that Clark and Murtha wrongly accused the Marines at Haditha of. Chernogne was an example of "revenge killings". Ken Burns also reverences (in his documentary "The War")it when talking about Malmedy and doesn't name specifically name Chernogne. Too bad Olbermann won't be around to do your thinking for you anymore. The "Normandy" thing was not a fox cover up.
@bluegsp - way to skirt the message. Billo says, "Malmedy, this is fact, documented, we all know this." Then when called out he says, "It wasn't clear, after Malmedy, some German captures were executed..." Fox news DID change the transcript on what he said to "Normandy"- b/c it was such a screw up. Hence they tried to cover it up.
@Echdrum Fox did not change the transcripts, they are done by a company called Morningside partners, (which is the same company that does them for Countdown) they own the copy rights so Kieth was also lying about that as well. Even Ken Burns describes the revenge killings in association with Malmedy with out ever mentioning Chernogne. Olbermann could have done this same segment replacing Bill O'Reilly's name with Ken Burns and it would have been just as wrong. Kieth is a liar.
@Texture2000 since you obviously don't understand the context of the discussion (because keith didn't give it to you), you should understand that the marines at Haditha were accused of revenge killings, which is what happened "after" Malmedy. Bill nor Fox said anything about Normandy. That was an error by Morningside partners, the company that does the transcripts for both Bill's and Keith's shows. Keith knows this and blatantly lied about it. Its about time that Keith was fired.
@bluegsp have to jump in here. "b/c Keith didn't give it to you"? "Don't understand the context"? These are some very weak pieces of ammo you are really trying to shell out. The context is crystal clear, thats why even fox new$ viewers wrote in calling out billo (didn't need Keith) & check your info- Keith was not fired-he gave his res. the day comcast (new$corp) bought out nbc (another illegal move by newscorp hidden by "special lawyers" & pay offs to the FCC) & refused to be under their ruling
@GentlemenPreferHanes Thanks for demonstrating your ignorance. You are obviously one of the leftist morons that are unable to think for themselves. Nothing that Keith said made any sense except to the brain dead liberals eager to believe anything they are told that is negative about their perceived enemies. (just like your inability to accept that Keith was fired). I suppose you believe that the November elections meant that Americans wanted dems and repubs to "get along" XD
@bluegsp He didn't say Chernoge, or Normandy, he said Malmedy. He was wrong and didn't have the manhood to admit it. Please stop embarrassing yourself.
O'Reilly is right in his correction. He misspoke, and he admitted it. But he was referring to an actual event. It IS a fact that many German prisoners were mistreated, executed, etc. during the Second World War. Olbermann seems to deny this.
After listening to it again I think Olbermann is just trying to be funny. Why does he dislike Bill O'Reilly so much? There's enough room for both of them at the top.
Olbermann use to be good when he did sports. He just doesn't do very well with political debates. He really has sunk to a new low by trying to make Bill look unpatriotic. Anyone that beleives Bill O'Reilly doesn't love America is simply a MSNBC sheep. Olbermann is trying to up his ratings I guess.
He didn't say it intentionally, Olbermann knows it was just a mistake, but look at the situation: O'Reilly was talking to some kind of highly ranked war veteran, made THAT mistake, and concluded by saying "That's on the record, and documented". It's called arrogance in it's purest form.
Keith Olberman is an idiot. O'Reilly mis spoke as he explained later. And O'reilly was right about Americans shooting SS members who tried to surrender after word of the Malmedy massacre spread through the lines since it was SS troopers who did it. Regular German soldiers were not shot on surrender. American soldiers also gunned down 500 SS guards of the Dachau concentration camp after they saw what had happened there. And they were right to do so in both cases. Look up the SS if you doubt
If O'REALLY is right about Malmedy on any of this...rinck17...link the info, post the website. If you come back with any other response other than valid information, you are a liar. So prove Bill is right and link the information...otherwise do as Bill says...and SHUT UP.
War is cold-blooded any way you look at it. The germans could have just lacked the provisions to keep the american prisoners, and letting them go was just not an option. It could have been either a massacre, or an act of mercy.
I think you agree that the germans couldn't just let those 90 or something americans simply go. And the only other option could have been to follow them, chained and on foot, without food or water, perhaps for weeks. I'm not saying anything, it's just a possibility because there have been many cases in history when killing prisoners was to save them from suffering.
A lot of people have been trying to defend Billo, I on the other hand have been trying to prove them wrong, but it is very hard to find information on Malmedy. If anyone here would like to tell me where I can find mor information on the Malmedy masscre, please send me a message on my You Tube channel.
Fuck fox news and msnbc arguing with each other, cant get unbiased news anywhere. I first learned of the Malmedy massacre when I was a little kid watching "Battle of the Bulge."
It was murder, from what I've seen O'reilly is an arrogant ass hole, but most journalist are. You have to be, or you don't make a good journalist. But I'm not so quick as other to believe that O'rielly would intentionally say something so untrue, and so documented as untrue. I would have to believe he simply has his facts wrong. Now the second time he said the same "facts", it's his fault for being to self centered to correct himself, or to stupid to lookup facts so many people suggest wrong
I hate Bill O with a passion. He is a horribly biased, wrong-headed douchebag. That being said, I'm sure he simply got his facts wrong. But the issue is not simply that he was wrong about Malmedy -- twice, but that, like always, instead of admitting his mistake, he defended it and lied directly, even though there was PROOF (the previous taping) that what he said was incorrect.
This makes me sick. Fuck you Bill O'Reilly...fuck you up your stupid ass.
