Such a tremendous performance. Before Alicia, the world knew little of Spanish music, now we have performances such as this to savor forever even though she is no longer with us.
Alicia de Larrocha est insurpassée dans cette oeuvre plaisante. Quel style, quel panache aussi. L'espagne telle qu'on la rêve en France. Elle restera dans nos coeurs. Merci Madame
I keep coming back to this video. The composition reminds me of Scarlatti, one of my favorite keyboard composers. Plus, the performance is stellar - sparkling in its clarity, infinitely expressive in its feeling, and brilliantly executed by de Larrocha. I can tell Spain flows through her veins!
No one can compare with de Larrocha in the playing of such music. Horowitz is reputed to have told her to play on, because there was much music in those small hands! I was so privileged to have heard her live in La Jolla in 1988. She played Turina's Sanlucar de Barrameda with incredible flair. Her Scarlatti, Mompou, Albeniz, Granados, and de Falla are magnificent, too.
what a marvellous sound indeed....i couldn't help noticing that this piece is from the same recital as the ritual fire dance, and i wonder where you found it and if you have any other pieces from that set..
Thank you so much for posting Alicia! Do you have more videos from her? You can see how much the energy flows freely to the tip of her finger, effortlessly. She is so inspiring
Best piano video ever! What an elegant lady, wow! Perfect reading, and some element of magic too.

Brilliant! I love it! You're absolutely right! And I love D. Scarlatti. I would have loved to hear Alicia play Scarlatti as well.
RIP Alicia! You've are missed as of the greatest. That enormous Spanish heart of yours is unmatched to this day except by Martha.

With absolutely dazzling fingerwork, fiery perpetual motion and rhythmic swagger, de Larrocha owns this piece, easily, period.

An refreshing, insightful and intelligent comment. I think de Larrocha owns (your word) many of the Spanish keyboard pieces. Thanks.

Very cool playing by Alicia de Larrocha! The piece is from a student of Manuel de Falla - but it sounds like Scarlatti.
