  • HORRABLE

  • What an AMAZING remake to inspire the younger generation. I'm sure God is looking down on you Chris in amazement and feeling gratiful and proud himself!!

  • Woah!!(:

  • Strumstickoe is right- too bad we don't worship a religion, but the real creator of all existence:) praying for you pal, I pray you find the truth, and the joy of the Lord will soon follow:)

  • legendary ~~

  • Those who adopt religion take on terrible chains.

I know there are some who have cast them off and found freedom, but they are too few.

I am trying to make a few more people free, using, as far as possible, polite reasoning.

Once you see the rationale, and feel the liberation it can be wonderful.

The universe is wonderful, but it is not magical. Once you start believing in magic you are on a slippery slope ; life becomes valueless. That's why people kill and die for religion.

  • @majic490 what exactly are you trying to do? no one's going to read your comments and say "oh my gosh these quotes are so true, there is no God!" so i feel like your just writing this to make people mad or strike up arguments. grow up.

  • Take a look at one of my videos. This girl has an amazing voice.

  • AWESONE! Mahalo Ke Akua!

  • Is that a taylor?!

  • 23 people still have their chains

  • I love this song! Singing it in church in a couple weeks. Pray that the power of the words will open the eyes of those who are going to be there who possibly need the Lord.

  • @XxJofdanxX There's no greater blessing than faith in God Almighty, that created everything that exist no matter what unbelievers say or the ugly words they use to discredit God.One day they will open their spiritual eyes & see the truth.sadly for some it will be too late.

  • @maria11bonita There will be no ugly words in this message:

Two of the major problems for religion, (and even some scientists fall into this trap) are the desperate need to find a meaning to life; and a destination for it.

I am here for the same reason as a leaf, or a stone, or a planet, and my destiny is the same as those things.

That makes me happy enough. Despite my importance today, and my sentience, I am no more than a transient happening.

Find peace and clarity here on earth.

  • love how he does it in the same key as a lot of james taylor songs

  • Chris Tomlin please come to Norway and give us in the land up north worlds gratest music..... i just love youre music....... God Bless

  • If you're curious about the book luettem mentions below, there are quite a few people who tried to disprove the New Testament and ended up becoming Christians. Several of the ones I know who wrote books in defense of Christianity after their conversions include Frank Morison (Albert Henry Ross), Sir William Mitchell Ramsey, and Gilbert West and Lord Nyttleton. You can find the titles of their works online.

  • Chris is such a blessing.

  • Yupp

  • I cannot conceive of a God who rewards and punishes his creatures, or has a will of the type of which we are conscious in ourselves. An individual who should survive his physical death is also beyond my comprehension, nor do I wish it otherwise; such notions are for the fears or absurd egoism of feeble souls.

-Albert Einstein (The World as I See It, 1949)

  • @Majic490 rats for him then. Guess he wasnt the smartest dude in the world

  • @Mangi132 It's sad isn't it? To make someone believe and waste their life now for something no one knows about in exchange for a "LIFE AFTER DEATH"

...even major corporations with all their reward systems don't try to make it posthumous....

    -Gloria Steinem

  • "wow, that's beautiful!"

  • Mr. Tam. I dont get mad at your comment. Im a 18 year old boy and I might not understand alot about jesus, but this I do know. I've been addicted to drugs and been in rehab. I've OD many times, and you want to know the one person that stayed beside me? Our lord and savior. Im am now drug free, I have a wonderful child and I know if it was not for our lord then I would be dead. He loves you and is always there for you. I'll keep you in my prayers. God loves you regardless. God bless you.

  • wth is wrong with you seriously...Anyway... he died for you bless you

  • @MrTamimisa

DID U ask him for a blow job are u loyal to him do u believe him....

Jesus cant help u if u dont believe in him u have to let your hearth to him.

I have lot of expereince i pray ask for luck guidence and i did have amazing luck..

  • This song reminds me of how sinful I am and how beautifully gracious God is. God didn't have to get me out of the ditch I was stuck in. I deserve to die. But now he set me free, my chains are gone. No condemnation anymore. He'd pass over my sin and let Jesus carry it. And I'd like to witness to you all, there is room with Jesus.

  • @drolsidog You are not sinful religious nutters have brainwashed you that you are sinful go out and live your life to the fullest and don't let anyone tell you that you are full of sin...that claim is just controlling crap!!!

  • @Majic490 You will never life your life to the fullest denying that you are a sinful man and in need of Christs offer. If we are not sinful then what did Jesus die for. For our selfesteem? Come on! No. God changed me and I'm happy to. You are an atheist I guess? It needs a total believer not to believe in something as ovious as Christs death and ressurection and dying for the sins of mankind to bring us eternal happyness with Him. Still playing in the mud while offered a vacation at sea....

  • @drolsidog I would recommend that skeptics devote even more effort than they do now to understanding the reasons why so many people want or need to believe.

-Murray Gell-Mann (Quark and the Jaguar)

  • @Majic490 If I experience great affection, love and care in a God to whom you say doesn't exist, then there must be something wrong with you I guess. So if 'this religion' would be fake, then I wouldn't care because it carries me through in all my affliction. It brings me happyness when I'm happy and when I don't feel to. This is Jesus the rock my life is build on. It's crap to the mind. But you miss alot man. You are here because God is wooing you. Stop resisting. You can't win this fight!

  • @drolsidog The persistence of erroneous beliefs exacerbates the widespread anachronistic failure to recognize the urgent problems that face humanity on this planet.

-Murray Gell-Mann (Quark and the Jaguar)

  • You are well informed. Did you know that with the second awakening the mules in the mines would not listen to the miners? They where converted and didn't hit the mules anymore. Did you know that the slave trade was called to a halt thanks to William Wilberforce a professing Christian and follower of Jesus? See how AIDS stops in Africa because men get saved and stay with their wifes. The revelation of God in the heart of men is the best problem solver the world has ever known, and will ever know.

  • @drolsidog No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus. Devastating to historians, there occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus......

  • @Majic490 Suggest that you see about a book called "Jesus, the Explosive story of the Missing Years and the Mystery Schools." by Trisha MCcannon. She has some Youtube posts about her book and her research done on the life of Jesus. For in the Bible, there are few if any records of Jesus from age 12 to age 30 or so...& then he was crucified several years after that! He travelled to Egypt, to the Celtic lands by trade routes with his mother and uncle David, and also to India & to the Far East

  • @drolsidog All documents about Jesus came well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: unknown authors, people who had never met an earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings. Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations simply because all sources about Jesus derive from hearsay accounts.

  • @Majic490 You mean the Bible itself is not a historic writing? If the dead sea scrolls prove that a few books of the Scriptures are reliable for over 2000 years and not have been changed, then we may assume that other books so intangled with these books are reliable also. The Scriptures testify of themselves and do not even need dead seas scrolls to prove their reliability. Jesus was cruisified, so they didn't put his selfmade chairs in a museum...

  • @Majic490 I cannot speak for God, but He promises: if you search for Me (in the Scriptures), you will find Me and My Holy Spirit will testify to you of the truth and you will believe. So if you don't want to believe never read the Bible. Because it could be possible that you may get really good things out of it, and end up really happy rejoycing in a God you can't see and rejoycing in the death of the (so told) Son of God, to glorify Him forever and be with Him forever.

  • @Majic490 That will be in happyness unimaginable, in God, expanding forever. The mind will pass away. In 80 years (or two weeks!!!) we will rot in the ground and will be forgotten. If life is evolution and mere survival of the fittest and get-what-you-need in 80 years, then what is in the honor of that? You will never get satisfied (in your search for wisdom).

  • @Majic490 The wisest man ever (so said) wrote this book: Ecclesiastes. Read it openminded, and after that: gospel of John. If you will. God reveals Himself to me (and all His children) through the Scriptures, I believe (therefore know) it is true. Yes it sounds spooky, but oh how I would love to see you embracing the truth and love of God. Only God Himself is capable of inputing truth in our hearts and minds. Apparantly you are searching for something... uch I mean God is wooing you...

  • @drolsidog For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

    -Carl Sagan (The Demon-Haunted World)

  • @Majic490 There is a book written to prove Christ did not exist, the man was a massive sceptic, and spent great effort to disprove in all avenues available that Christ never walked the earth. After several years, this man became a True believer in Christ, and finished his work as to the absolute fact Christ did come to the earth, and in his efforts also found all written of Him is Truth.

  • @Majic490 You seem so able to circumvent Eye Witnesses who went on to their deaths without a second thought. How sad-I suppose those people dont count in some strange twisted way. One died sawn in half, another hung upside down, another flayed alive, but you are far above such people, just a story ---they dont count

  • @luettem

We are all atheists, some of us just believe in fewer gods than others. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.

    -Stephen F. Roberts

  • @Majic490 There's only one god.

  • @arthuroluis Man is a Religious Animal. He is the only Religious Animal. He is the only animal that has the True Religion - several of them. He is the only animal that loves his neighbor as himself and cuts his throat if his theology isn't straight.

    -Mark Twain

  • @drolsidog For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

    -Carl Sagan (The Demon-Haunted World)

  • @Majic490 How do you know he is right? If there is no absolute truth, then your truth is just another truth and may not be true. The scriptures are a very reliable historic source, the Dead Sea scrolls prove. "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible." Hebr. 11:1

  • @Jayvier96 Of all the systems of religion that ever were invented, there is no more derogatory to the Almighty, more unedifiying to man, more repugnant to reason, and more contradictory to itself than this thing called Christianity.

-Thomas Paine (The Age of Reason)

  • I have such a strong reaction to this song. It always moves me.

    love it!

  • I could get angry at this comment. But just so you know, Jesus loves you. He died for you and rose again on the third day. you can except His love now- or find out that God was there the whole time when your life is over. Praying for you,

  • If thus music or this video causes you such anger.......please refrain from watching it. Please don't curse at me....I'm not a b*tch, maybe I was a "wretch", but God loved me right on thru it. If nothing else I wish you peace. To randyharsha~ I will try and make some better sense of the chords for you. He's capo'd on the 3rd and he said what key he was playing in, so that should tell you the major keys. I'll try and work on this and get back with details. Peace.

  • lol

  • I know he somewhat explains the chords used, but can someone kinda put down the order of the chords he plays with the capo on the 3rd fret? Thanks :)

  • You can play the song along with his recorded version (in key of G) using open chords (no Capo) G, C, D, and Amin.

    Here is the sequence:

    Verse: G C G D G C G D

    Chorus: G C G C G C G Amin D G

the Am chord is a quick bridge to the D. also, you can added a hammer on/off to the D to make it a Dsus4 hitting the third fret of the small e string.

Here is the sequence with the lyrics in between:

    .G.amazing grace how.C.sweet the.G.sound that saved a wretch like.D.me...

  • there are very few songs we have today that are like this one...it has withstood the test of time for a reason, because its such a God-inspired song.

  • 9-11 was an inside job building 7 fell for no reason. we have proof and you guys are being "willfully ignorant" as usual.

  • If you don't like it then don't listen to it....ur problem solved...unless ur jelous as he's good and he sings great and great songs.

  • The Apostle Paul referred in the new testament to himself saying something like "oh wretched man that i am in this body that sins" I believe he was referring to the fact that even after 25 years as an Apostle he still had to fight sin inherent in his physical nature.

  • Hey man, no need to be so harsh.

    Jesus will always love us

  • well to tell you the truth ...God said we are sinners...worthless in his sight...if you have a problem with music dont listen to it...to tell you the truth no one really cares what you think...and people who smoke weed and play music are complete idiots because it really doesnt sound good...by the way...God bless

  • i love this song it is my fav song at the moment

  • My Lord gave me life, but no words to describe his awesomeness...or this glorious tribute to His wonderful Love, Grace and Power!! 'Nuff said.

  • THIS IS GREAT!!

    GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!

  • this song explains everything about my cousin which died in feb because of drugs and he was praying as he died and his chains r gone now

God Freed me and he is an awsome God that broke the chains off of my ankles!!!

  • Praise God for this beautiful song and rendition by Chris Tomlin..I'm always blessed by it..Good reminder for all of us who are lost and have been found, in Christ Jesus. Truly amazing!!! God bless us all.

  • One of my favorite songs!!

    GOD is awesome!!

HE IS THE ONLY ONE LIVING GOD!!!!

PRAISE GOD!! I recently got baptized, maybe 2 weeks ago!!!

  • guys chill man. its just a video on chris tomlin. for non-believers, just enjoy the melody. if u come just to criticize, go do it somewhere else and let us christians at least enjoy the video. for my fellow christians just focus on the song and lyrics. we don't have to fight everyday.

  • amen

  • I will pray for u I can tell you life is going to ---- unless you repent and get born again. I forgive your ignorance, and so does Jesus. . I pity u. Pray your blinders fall off and all the deception.

  • really? Judgement doesnt really represent the face of christ..

  • actually Jesus said, when on earth, He judges no man, but in the end He will:2Timothy 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

  • He didnt write it he says that in the first part of the video. He says John Newton wrote it for the slavery. If you watch Amazing Grace it talks about it

  • he wrote a variation of the song (my chains are gone)

  • I know what i mean and don't have to justify it.

  • can someone disable comments?

  • how can you say he took credit? go ask people who wrote amazing grace. NOBODY will say chris tomlin

  • your right he doesnt take the creadt.

  • does anyone have the tabs for this song?

  • don't care he's still getting the majority of the credit for writing...like being nominated for Dove Awards?

  • I have a problem with worship leaders who write a chorus (like Chris Tomlin) and then just take credit for a crazy good hymn.

    Ugh.

  • Bro, he wrote this song for the movie "Amazing Grace". So its just natural that he used the old hymn. In fact, the chorus that he add to it is a bonus and an effort.

  • hey, Chris tomlin did clarified right at the front after Brenton's introduction that he did not write the song . why wld you think he is claiming credit?!

  • Lol. You're missing the point. It's not about who wrote it, but whom it is written about.

  • Exactly.

  • it was for a movie

  • this vid is awsome and verry verry nice keep up the good work

  • AMAZING!!! he has a beautifull voice. it's so cool

  • Amazing! What else can I say?

  • The added refrain to this exceptional song has created a new dedication and devotion to the simple lyrics of how God's Grace encompasses all of us. Our chains ARE gone! Praise God. Thanks Chris ... please continue in all talents you are blessed with. Humbly - Gisele G

  • I Loooooooooooove this song. it's amazing. I am thinking about singing it in church. Its amazing how a few words added to a hymn make the song totallly different! keep up the good work :) God bless

  • I enjoy singing this song, because "my chains are gone and I've been set free" is so true! I believe that. Thanks!

  • I love the add on to this song.

  • im gonna sing this song at church .. its so pretty ..thanks a bunch --
