You're so damn right, man. Music isn't music unless it can make a complete stranger break down and cry. This song right here is an emotional cry, not far from "The Vigil" or "I Fall". Whatever Corgan was going through then is what most people our age are going through, and it's always a shame when that adolescence is lost to adulthood.
It's almost as if growing up means losing a part of yourself.
Oh I don't know about losing a part of yourself. I mean, I'm definitely more level-headed in my 20s than I was when I was in my teens, but I still feel emotion very deeply when I am so moved. It's just that not every single thing is a big deal any longer; I've had enough big deals to know the difference. Someone said that alot of Pumpkins fans have thrived on negative energy inherent in their work, and that Billy being more positive is challenging. I agree; I just now began to like Zwan
Yeah, the pumpkins will always take precedence in my heart. I just got a copy of the Spun soundtrack though, and it's just as good if not better than American Gothic was. I'm hoping this whole Teargarden concept is a pleasant one. Zeitgeist held promise, but was produced terribly. Subtlety is key, I say.
I can't get into post-D'arcy/James/Jimmy. Corgan by himself is okay, but under the SP name, it sounds forced. "Adore" in my opinion was weaker. There wasn't emotion in it, it was a cyberpunk aftermath to grunge, you know? After that, I couldn't listen to Smashing Pumpkins. The magic disappeared. I do like Zwan a lot, though, the emotion is there because Billy Corgan found the Virgin Mary in Florida, hence the name "Mary, Star of the Sea", the Catholic church he attended.
@chrisnoaro1 Yeah, you're right. After hearing "Ava Adore" for the first time in a long time, it doesn't sound as cold to me anymore. I guess I just connect more to the first three albums and the early stuff because it feels real to me.
@chrisnoaro1 Yeah, hope I didn't sound hostile! I grew up with music that closely resembled 'Adore' - English new wave/synth stuff and it was Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie that were initially hard for me to get into! I imagine it might have been the opposite for you, you loved their rock-based stuff, then they go and take a sharp change in direction - can be a painful experience when your favourite band does that!! Cheers
@ImTheOneThatIWant123 You should listen to some of the Residency songs. TONS of emotion in those songs. Check out Owata, Promise Me, 99 Floors, Peace and Love. All VERY good songs. They are all on YouTube as well.
never heard this song before..omfg why didnt they release this? its the bomb! it could compete with any of there stuff..wow im totally blown away..my new fav sp song..
i completely agree with you on the pastichio medley songs. some of them are in the 666 video, but now that G.L.O.W has come out,i'd love to hear Zoom in its full form.
@bberger13 Dude thats how the early pumpkins were man, every single thing was to make them into gods! Just try and find apathy's last kiss or egg or jennifer ever. The list goes on, so find a fan forum and get someone to send you it all, its like 200+ if you want all the b-sides and demos from MCIS and back... Thats like cake, icecream and pie all for breakfast!
@CONMURDER dude i dont know if you heard it but there is a package around called mashed potatoes that one got some bad ass sp tunes i like everything the did before mellon collie ( like MC and the other touthg but not as same ) And fuck zeitgeist
my heart is pumping to the sound of it :)

I would piss myself if I heard this one live. I know they STARTED to play "Spiteface" when they first reformed, and parts of the crowd went ape.
This music is simple and unpolished, but it just feels so pure. I wish Billy would realize that his best music was his most fragile and vulnerable.

I think some aspects of being a teenager should never be lost, but what do I know, right? XD
Zwan is a good band, but for me, it'll always be Smashing Pumpkins, until I get out of this petty teenage petulance.

oh by far. this wins...but even this seems strange by the familiar "mellon collie and siamese dream" that we all know and love...

Fankly, this song sounds a lot like a cross between machina and Adore.
Adore is his soft voice and guitar effect, while Machina is his riff and the way the song moves. Nevertheless, it's an amazing song.
