The Soviets were afraid to let this man travel in the years before 1991 when Lithuania was under Soviet rule and Noreika was in his prime. What a shame. He would have been world class and internationally enjoyed and renowned. I heard him sing with Violeta Urmana in Lithuania in about the year 2,000, and becuase of his technique and care of his insfrument he was still terrific. What a memorbale night that was. Che bella voce!Noreika is a superb lirico-spinto tenor.I believe he ranks with the best American and European lyric tenors of the 60's and 70's.Its a pity he isn't better known in the West.Grazie mille baritonas for sharing this great piece with us.
