  • This song, it sounds like it was made to tribute Swan Lake which was the theme of 1931 Dracula.

  • meh it's alright

  • i've gone through the first 455 songs thus far, and this is the first i sopped to listen to the whole thing.

  • Pure Michiru Yamane style: Rythmic with a sad vibe that become mysteryous.

  • 007 meets castlevania.

  • this game had an excellent soundtrack

  • Very mysterious and luring song.... I love it! Thanks for sharing.

  • Charlotte!...

    Jonathan!....

    Charlotte!...

    Jonathan!...

    [bis^n]

  • @Witsarunemitea Lol I just saw another guy put the same style comment on another of PoR theme .

    I didn't copy him I swear :s I saw the video after!

  • @Witsarunemitea Pushing the L button to listen to this is so fun =D

  • Charlotte's eyes looks like a child staring at something that's so new to her, her eyes got that large.

  • I...LOVE...CASTLEVANIA...MUSIC

  • excellent...!!!

  • The bassline is really interesting both to listen to and play.

  • charlette is pretty

  • i love this theme and killing the monsters about the sound the big Golem give me your Item xDD

  • Jonathan!... Jonathan!... Where the hell did he go?

  • can i have the picture with charlotte ?

  • It fits well with the gloomy prison theme.

Though hear me out. I wish POR showed more of the world. I could totally see Johnathan and Charolette exploring say the depths of the Bermuda triangle in a submerged cave amongst wrecked vessels with this theme playing.

  • @shenloken2 I would love to see a proper shipwreck appear in Castlevania. not just some random section of ship. I mean, like, crooked beams, slanted floors, etc...

  • This song has always held a significance with me because while I was listening to this I found out a friend of mind lost his battle with cancer.

  • @newerajj I feel bad for you but why put other people with what you went through. I've lost a lot in my life but I want people to be happy.

  • a lot of the music in this game reminds me of Golden Sun

  • Whoa heavy james bond indeed!

  • My current favorite 2D Castlevania is Order of Ecclesia, followed by Aria of Sorrow. I think I'd then put SotN.

  • Man I wish they gave Charlotte the high jump, the only use she really has is the fact she casts spells....

  • Though PoR was a slight disappointment for me (still incredibly fun), the music is great as always. Is there a CV game with bad music?

  • @calvinsora101 I liked PoR, much better than DoS in my opinion. There are so many more areas to explore than in DoS - still not that awesome to compete with SOTN, but it gets close.

  • @calvinsora101 LoL nop a castlevania with bad music doesnt exist lol even the NES castlevania have epic music

  • does someone know where i could find the artwork of POR ?

  • Can I please get a download link please

  • charlotte <3

  • I ...honestly don't like this song as much as most people here say.

It feels...bland compared to the previous work? =/

  • @TheRealVordox yes....you are.....right

  • @newnature Doesn't mean it's a wonderful piece, just that it sounds not as unique as most other Castlevania songs.

Not sure why, but that's my opinion.

  • @TheRealVordox I hear ya', it's no Iron Blue Intention or Bloody Tears....yeah, kinda blah. But I do like the music from this game quite a bit, the one from the Egyptian themed level is awesome (Hail for the Past?)

  • @newnature That one rocks. ^^ It's the one that makes the sound of hail hitting a roof or something with a more accustical Xylophon being the instrument?

  • @TheRealVordox

    I blame the comparinson... heh

  • @TheRealVordox The area is bland and doesn't fit this song well, but this is a nice flowing song.

  • Wow, that is so great. I WISH I HAD MY DS AGAIN... it was stolen from me -_-;

Anyway, this is one of the best tunes in the Castlevania franchise... and this tune is my favorite of this game.

In fact, I do plan on doing a "Top 20 Favorite Castlevania Tunes" pretty soon.

  • Wow, what a great soundtrack. It´s calming and mystifying, just the type of music I like^^

... Or, well... I like most other types of music as well, but right here and now while listening to this soundtrack, mystifying is my favourite. Nough said.

  • Try "Hidden Curse" and "Jail of Jewels" of Portrait of Ruin, it is the same style :-) .

  • Right, got it. Thanks for the tip. I must say that this has alot of feeling in it...I feel soothed somehow.

  • I'm so nervous about the new Castlevania game. I hope it's as good as all the others. I loved this one, even though it gave me headaches. x]

  • where to download this song? i couldn´t find them. please let me know about it, where i could find them please tell me.

BECAUSE THIS IS GREAT AND I WANT TO PUT IN MY BEST SONGS I AM FAN OF CASTLEVANIA. Thanks i will regreat you.

  • I personally enjoyed OoE more (i got somewhat obsessed with it, to be honest =D), but PoR, although I never completed it (played on a friend's copy), was still an awesome game. And lets face it, most Castlevania games are.

Oh, and the music's great. XD

  • so that i can get the code and post this into my profile plsss........ make this for me ...

  • Ah yes, I remember this song. Pretty good choice!

  • Is this the same composer who worked on the soundtracks for Golden Sun /GS: Lost Age on GBA? It sounds awfully familiar...

  • No, this is Michiru Yamane, and GS was done by Motoi Sakuraba. They're both good at what they do, though

  • Dang, I'm surprised. The moment this started, I thought it was definitely Sakuraba. It sounds just like his work in Tales of Symphonia and Golden Sun.

  • I sure had fun with this game.

This song just makes me miss it more, lol

  • Which is better. Portrait of Ruin or Order of Ecclesia?

  • Order of Ecclesia.

Portrait of Ruin is a rushed games with bugs, and a clear lack of polish. It runs with so many ideas...and does none of them well.

The rehashed paintings, lame co-operative elements, the pointless subweapon grinding, it all adds up to a package that tries to be a jack of all trades, but masters none.

At best, look at PoR as an anniversary game, with references to older games. Looking at it as a fresh, unique game will probably lead to direct disappointment and fury.

  • Not to mention, adding a non Belmont Heroes actually was a bit brave move, but it also adds more depth in the storyline(John Morris' son, for example, following the Book of a certain author's opinion and perspective of Dracula.)

And another hottie never fails, even if it's a bit childish.

It had it's good point, not many, but nonetheless a good game worth getting.

Ps: What's NEW about Castlevania franchise?

    (Please don't say Judgement.)

  • What's new is the fact they're making so many spin-offs.

Radio dramas, fighting games, novels, slot machine games, first person whipping games. Those are new to the franchise ;3

  • We will see how that goes. ;)

  • Storywise = PoR

    Characters = PoR

    Gameplay = Ecclesia

Innovation = None(Same as Dawn of Sorrow sort of system)

Personal Opinion = Both are above average, so equal in it's own rights.

  • I think PoR was the better one imo

  • Castlevania music is always somber enough to fit the mood but at the same time upbeat enough to keep you going throughout the game.

  • A solemn yet upbeat piece that fits CastleVania all too well. POR still has great music.

  • Good song. But I'm still waiting for "The Hidden Curse" to get on this list.

  • Sounds like it came from Final Fantasy! (That's a good thing)

    Awesome song!

  • Nice art you found there, Supra. :D

I already finished this game, sadly only two caught my ears, and that's Iron blue Intention, and the ....Gah I forgot the name, I'll try and find it later next time I play it, it's a quick paced song though.

  • If I had to take a guess, I would say "Crucifix Held Close", "Victorian Fear", "Bloodlines Bequethed", or maybe "Jail of Jewel" (least likely) as that "quick paced" second song. I agree that the remake of Iron Blue Intention is great though.

  • Crucifix held Close!

    Thanks =3

  • every day there's another reason that this is my favorite subscription

  • Love this game. Got up to the final boss (or pair or bosses) but haven't beaten them yet, Damn this game for making you fight Dracula and Death at the same time lol.

  • Tried on Hard level 1 yet? :P

  • No, after I beat it I'm going to move on to Dawn of Sorrow which I am more than halfway finished.

  • Have fun, it's really good. :D

  • The sound bank reminds me of FF4's.

  • 1:53

    James Bond anyone?

  • lolol

  • lol, i always though james bond at that part of the song

  • @badoujobeale lol

  • @badoujobeale Hahaha, that made me laugh.

  • @badoujobeale lol yeah.

  • @badoujobeale

    Good ears!

  • One of the game's more subtle tracks, but nonetheless, it is a very good one.

Unless you've already done so, I hope you'll upload some music from Order of Ecclesia. Ebony Wings is one of the best from that game.

  • Nice!
