  • we have that snare at my school and its great

    sweet video very helpful

  • thanks

  • nice snare

  • you should consider playing metal with those skills

  • Metal doesn't require that much skills. It would be a waste..

  • Some of the best drummers are in metal bands..

    Solid controdiction.

  • Ordinary and mediocre metal sure doesn't. Any metal that's worth listening to certainly does.

  • nice snare bro, what heads do you use for it and what is the snare made of and snare measurements? thanks!

  • bonham triplets man!

    My favorites!

  • Nice teaching. Just thought I'd say your snare sounds fucking good.

  • at first im thinking like dats waay too easy, but then u showed how u could use it at the end and dat actually quite in handy, nice job ^_^

  • Soooo, that's it?

I just came from Eric Moore, Aaron Spears, Thomas Pridgen. A different level, entirely.

  • when you move it around the kit, are you doing KRLKRL or KRLKLR?

  • KRLKLR - he says in the vid

  • Dave Weckyl pioneered this idea by starting out with KRLKRL, and then learning KLRKLR, then same combos with hi-hat foot. Then...!... KRLKLR, and then KLRKRL. Cover's the main combos, and switches up the sound a bit!

  • Work on your left hand strength.

  • yo my bro has those sticks too there nice man....good job but work on it so it sounds a bit cleaner...but nice man i luv it

  • ripped it up bro im gonna try that out tommorrow

  • I got those sticks

  • Is that a firecracker snare? It looks about the size and has the sound but I could be wrong.

  • nice!:D

  • wow! I've been playing that for years but never put it around the kit like that! awesome!

  • where did u get that set from

  • whats the name of that drum set

  • yamaha stage custom standard

  • All those gospel licks are just triplets. Just really fast.

  • somewhat agreeable depending on the count signature of the songs

  • @spacitydrummer4JC no not true..

  • Your snare sounds sickk

  • thats awesome dawg, keep em coming

  • That last bit just makes me smile! There's something very cheeky about pulling something off like that that just makes grown men grin for no reason whatsoever!

  • im not slaggin it doesnt sound bad, but bthe snare sounds like a coffee can, ya kno wat i mean? just reat tight

  • Funny I was just practicing that lick and trying to better understand it. Thanks for the break down and tom fills.

  • welll. ??????????/ lol

  • thanks thats a nice lick keep em comin.

  • man that lick is sweet!

    -God Bless

  • I like this but I usually do it with my right hand as the down beat....basically the Bonham Triplet is what I learned it as

  • yup. bonham was the first to pioneer that. and it was therefore named after him.

  • If I remember right, Bonhams big thing was the RLK sticking pattern and not so much the KRL pattern. They're fun, but yeah, as you said he pioneered them.

  • siickk thanx for explaining your self of how to mix them...cause I wasn't really if it was single or double pedal.. :)

  • thanks i got that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • NIIIIIIIIIIIICE lesson man!

  • thanks cuz i wanted to learn how to do it ima do it wen my church shout sunday it dont seem dat hard

  • you're awesome bro..

    great vid.

  • keef, when i went to brazil and practiced wiv a bateria samba school called beija flor - they used the exact same triplet u use for their "paradinha" whats a little fill played on a tight drum like a timbal. boring - i know. but its my life!!!

    peace 5000

  • NICE!

  • what kind of snare is that

  • you freakin rock at the drums

  • Aquarian studio x

  • Like how you broke that down!!! Some cats like myself are kinda slow!!! lol

  • cool man check out John Bonham for a different feel. Dennis Chambers ,Tonys triplet stuff and Steve Gadd and Steve Jordans takes on this type of licks. Then Philly Joe and Buddy Rich for an even different feel on the same kind of licks. Then for even more flavor ZZ Tops Frank Beards 8ths and 16th triplet ideas. A triplet feel a million ways my friend. U must do Earl Palmer too, he created some of this back beat stuff with trips in the fills. Marvelous stuff. Have fun researching

  • cool lick, however, you're not playing it as a triplet. it's a repeating pattern of three 16th notes.

  • double the bass and it sounds a lot better

  • cool not so fast as possible but still very cool!

  • use this lick with a doble pedal, add another bass lick and make a paradiddle.

  • You killed it aT THE END!!! At first i couldn't believe someone would make a vid of this simple trip fill. Then you owned it at the end NICE!!!

  • 2:30 to 2:53 is sick as sushi on the go!

    nice man !

  • he to hood for the drums

  • great drummers use simple rudiments well Nice

  • love that snare sound

  • yo! u wanna show dat crossover shit again?!nice chops bro!

  • Man I can hear your snare resonating from here :(

  • 2:38 man, thats where its at dayum

  • lol yo this dude was funny."and everybody going to be like ooo how you doing all that stuff" lol good lick...

  • Fam u know u snapped off at the end u had to smile yo self keep it up doc

  • Haha. I enjoyed your camera personality. I hate being on camera on my lessons. Nice lick.

  • you motherfuck...lol. that was awesome but quit being so fucking modest...your a badass dude.

  • nice drumming dude, just to point out so people dont confused, that aint triplet your droping in the shout beat, 16ths, so its a 3 over 4 lick. Ofcourse it works more naturally as in a triplet subdivision being a group of three, but that aint gospel, gospel is all about the 3 over aprently, not that i would know anything about that style of drumming. Great drumming again.

  • i like the style of your hands and arms.

  • sick lick man!!!!

  • Man. The 2:35 was cool, and your snare sounds really great

  • those are the trilok gurtu (sp).....man that snare soundss great

  • beast omg ur right it sounds hot in the end

  • THIS GUY IS FUNNY.LOL

    and GOOD

  • whoa! crackin' snare you got there!

  • Would you happen to know any nice licks for 3/3 0r 6/8 timing

  • 3/3? you meant 3/4 right?

    coze 3/3 doesnt really exist

  • Yeah my bad 3/4 is what I meant.

  • Ok thanks alot. So eager to try it in shout music at church but I'll wait and work on it til (hopefully) I get as good as you at it! (Ha ha ha)Preciate the the advice. I'll have to get a metronome I dont have that yet.

  • That was definitely hot! But 1 question! Ive tried this lick and do it preety good with the constant RL. But it sounds so much cleaner with RL LR. That where i struggle and get completely lost! How can I get better at this? Is it a practice til perfction thing? How much time should I spend on it? How do you determine when your ready to speed up?
