  • Terrible images...unwatchable

  • @MPL029

I know it's not the best VQ, but I thought I'd share it anyway. I wanted the show's fans to see it, and the chances of this show ever airing again are beyond slim.

And believe it or not, I have some stuff that looks far worse!

  • @supersaver87 Nobody asked him anyway; for being original broadcast (and also 25 years old) it's great condition.

  • Scott looks kinda like Billy Joel

  • I think the snowy picture that used to be seen behind the wrong tube game answers used to spook me.

  • Time Machine was a game show on NBC, why does the Tube Game have the ABC and CBS logos promently displayed? I thought NBC banned shows that showed the logos of the other networks from airing on their network.

Love the way the Tube Game is played.

  • Until the 1990's, networks could not produce their own shows and had no control over them. Tube Game was possible because of that rule. NBC only aired the show, the independent company produced them.

  • The bonus round win isn't very exciting...the reveal needed to be a lot more...dramatic instead of just "all of a sudden" like Davidson did.

  • So what do they do with the extra time at the end of the show if the niether contestant gets the year on the nose?

  • No clue, sadly...only two episodes with that bonus round are on the circuit, and both have a contestant hit it on the nose.

  • I think I know. There was a sweepstakes in TV Guide during their premiere week where you could win a TV Guide watch. On one episde without the bonus round, they just revealed one of the sweepstakes answers.

  • OOPS, I meant a Time Machine watch.

  • The NBC announcer always interuppts the music.

  • I'll take that over squeezed credits that we have nowadays...

  • Hmm, I noticed that while Rich Jeffries did the announcing for most of the show, Charlie Tuna did the "Reg Grundy Production" announcement (without the drums and jazz snippet). Perhaps Tuna was supposed to be announcer all along...

  • He was. And that is why he announced Scrabble when Jay Stewart was replaced.

Once you work with Reg Grundy, you're in the clear.

  • Oh, man! How could he forget the shows that aired on the three networks in 1958? I could name them all right by myself!

  • Same here.

  • Nice bonus round win!

  • I forgot even the bonus round changed format so dramatically. Thanks again for posting this.
