No, Amuro is just an okay newtype who is also a great pilot.

Amuro's actually a very good Newtype. Not the best, that right is reserved for Camille and Camille alone, but by the end of the One Year War, the Gundam was an outmoded piece of junk. I mean, Gelgoogs were at least around its level of power and the Zeong was more than a cut above it.

But it was Amuro's Newtype talents that let it continue to be a deadly tool for war. His skill grew to the point that even though it should've lost against so many superweapons Zeon had, it still beat them all.
