No it's not high at all. If you play the game normally as a single player and loot everywhere, it's perfectly normal. And doing this part without a merc is not about showing off but rather showing that it can be done without a merc for those who don't like playing with a merc. I usually kill my merc off right away as soon as it gets granted to me.
@MajorSlackVideos The best merc is a defensive one from the 2nd act. I have him on level 80 with my sorceress level 81 and they both kick ass. The defensive merc gives you an aura to boost your defense a lot.
@baconfromhell666 Yeah, if you go through all those quest-irrelevant caves(e.g. The Crypt in the Rogues' Burial Grounds) you'll be level 15 before reaching Andariel.
Oh yeah I forgot to add slack, if you do hit 24, this is perfect for durry though, due to the frenzy helping to equal out the attack speed loss due to holy freeze.
As for YOU Majorslack, good job man ^.^! Hitting level 24 is pretty hard to do though. Double swing works just fine for the job. Just equip two multisocket flails, one with tal runes, and one with ith runes for damage.

Put points into charged strike and all the rest into power strike. Use charged strike to waste Durry. Trust me, I did it on single player set to players 8 in about.... 45 seconds or so? Charged strike is great for killing bosses. The reason for putting points into power strike by the way is to power up charged strike as a synergy. And done! ^.^

@BeastZidane no offence but you cant kill it without dying with that crappy build sorry. but if you really want to try it out, Try to make tp as fast as you go in, switch to fire wall. Do as much damage as you possibly can and go back to town through portal. heal up, drink mana pots. go back and make tp etc etc...
How do you beat Duriel with a Druid? I still can't beat him, I'm level 24, I keep dying in less than 10 hits, he easily kills my dire wolves in 2-3 hits.
Duriel is a hard boss if you are low level yea.... small chamber.. the cold damage... ofcorse with a lvl96 char what i have it's very easy.... but for lvl24 nice done man..
so i just got the game again after years of not playing, I didnt even remeber what anything was and have extremly low vitality. Am i screwed with only 200 life at lvl 24
Nice guide. This is how you should play the game, adventure and do the quest and eventually complete the game. I don't see the point in getting someone to rush you to hell and then kill baal 5000 times to get to lvl 99.
Once again your walkthrough videos amazes me. I've killed Duriel with the Amazon and the Sorceress but I never got that far with the Barbarian. Nice job killing him that easily with a melee class. I always wondered how it would be done without slamming your head into your desk over and over.

alright, it's kinda unrelated to the video, but i just made it to nightmare mode on my barb, he's frenzy and about 80%+ of my attacks miss, i'm level 36 right now. is that too low of a level to start nightmare mode? baal wasn't too hard, i only had to town portal once for him, but it seems like i should be able to do something to increase my hit chance against even just the normal enemies in the starting zone on nightmare
Thanks a lot for this, I have pretty crappy gear (except my mainhand weapon) and I'm level 21 and I just used Concentrate and stacked about 10 thawing potions and I killed him in about 20 seconds in the middle of the room, he didn't knock me back at all so it was all good. It's really difficult without the thawing potions but it's sooo easy with them. I only had to use 2 health potions and, considering my crappy gear, that's not too bad.

The merchant (I forget her name) in Act 2 has them. You have to check frequently as they're somewhat rare. But if you check the merchant's weapon list diligently every single time you go back to town, you'll always find some.
Sorry I don't remember where I got the runes. I haven't played this game since I did this video. As for the full rejuvenation potions, you can't find them. You have to make them using the Horadric Cube. I think the recipe is 3 health potions (any kind), 3 mana potions (any kind) and 1 gem (lowest quality will do fine), I think. Just going by memory. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

@aikerz07 Mephisto is always the favourite to kill because he has a pretty high drop rate of rare/unique items, and he's the closest boss to a waypoint.
I recently un-retired D2, haven't played for probably 8+ yrs. I'm looking at the gear you have & I have no idea where you got those runes. I'm a L21 Barb, I've never seen those so far in the game but I do seem to remember them from later on in the game, same with the 2 charms.

Your comment once again confirms to me that the biggest population of complete assholes in the world of video games is amongst Diablo II players. Also, if you play the game, do all the quests and search everywhere, you'll naturally be around level 24 when you get to Duriel. yeah i had a soceress, the way i killed it was I used my fire run and just ran away from him the whole time, then i would finish him by going in the corner he comes hand to hand with me, then i use like 10 fire walls on him.
@dhahranksa i tried that but he kept freezing my ass solid. I ended up having to freeze him right back and then set him on fire with fireballs while my partner took care of him mostly, it was super expensive and super annoying :-P I've been playing the game a long time but I still am a noob I think.

well ,it took me a while with a barbarian with messed up stats,yeah i gave him a shitload of dexterity and magic before this point,but when i finally beat duriel it felt like the hardest boss in a game,and i have played houndreds

I dont know why, but i never get socket item.. i usually have the luck of getthing lot of ''yellow name items''... and i usually get to duriel at level 20 (max) cause i never do a place second time, like logging out and logging in to get more moobs... oh and btw i play paladin, the only time i played barbarian, i killed maphisto and then never player hell with it... just unistaled game got tired.. already had a pala and necro with normal done... usually i get tired after that...
wouldn't be better to put some points in a weapon mastery , at least one? I think this would increase dmg more than the bash synenergy. And i would definatelly put one point in iron skin
theres a few things I had noticed almost right off the bat with this video that I find typically makes my experience in this game far better/easier, if you had made better use of those runes (assuming you have other ones at your disposal with a tal or ith in act 2, you possibly have an eth rune) Tal + Eth in the armor would've given you stealth and Ith + El + Eth (with some regen) very good weapon with the bleed effect
you can also to Tir + El in certain weapons for a simple descent weapon
@brae08Phil He uses both types in different attacks. The lightning blast is a life killer, but the fire nova is nearly unavoidable. If you can, try to stay distant. It's a lot easier to avoid his attacks then.
that was a hell of a strategy I never even thought of..... course I always run like a little girl and let my wolves/skeletons pound on duriel and pray they steal his attention away from me... Very helpful. Didnt even know that chilling potions increased your cold resist for a short time.... thats pretty awesome :).

I ended up having to freeze him right back and then set him on fire with fireballs while my partner took care of him mostly, it was super expensive and super annoying :-P I've been playing the game a long time but I still am a noob I think.

@tzouk15 you can get Full Rejuvenation potion by putting 3 minor rejuvenation potions into horadic cube and transmute

@tzouk15 You put three Rejuvenation Potions in the Horadric Cube and transform them. The normal Rejuvenation Potions are dropped by enemies.

well ,it took me a while with a barbarian with messed up stats,yeah i gave him a shitload of dexterity and magic before this point,but when i finally beat duriel it felt like the hardest boss in a game,and i have played houndreds

@TheMrSmakin do you have LoD expansion and those two weapons he used ?And if your damage is lower then using more rejuvation potions should be enough to kill Duriel

I dont know why, but i never get socket item.. i usually have the luck of getthing lot of ''yellow name items''... and i usually get to duriel at level 20 (max) cause i never do a place second time, like logging out and logging in to get more moobs... oh and btw i play paladin, the only time i played barbarian, i killed maphisto and then never player hell with it... just unistaled game got tired.. already had a pala and necro with normal done... usually i get tired after that...

wouldn't be better to put some points in a weapon mastery , at least one? I think this would increase dmg more than the bash synenergy. And i would definatelly put one point in iron skin

theres a few things I had noticed almost right off the bat with this video that I find typically makes my experience in this game far better/easier, if you had made better use of those runes (assuming you have other ones at your disposal with a tal or ith in act 2, you possibly have an eth rune) Tal + Eth in the armor would've given you stealth and Ith + El + Eth (with some regen) very good weapon with the bleed effect
you can also to Tir + El in certain weapons for a simple descent weapon

@brae08Phil He uses both types in different attacks. The lightning blast is a life killer, but the fire nova is nearly unavoidable. If you can, try to stay distant. It's a lot easier to avoid his attacks then.

that was a hell of a strategy I never even thought of..... course I always run like a little girl and let my wolves/skeletons pound on duriel and pray they steal his attention away from me... Very helpful. Didnt even know that chilling potions increased your cold resist for a short time.... thats pretty awesome :).

@bobibobio1999 Alternatively, if you get 3 healing and 3 mana potions, transmute those with a normal quality gem to get a full rejuvenation
